Yes for acrylic paint!!! I've seen people use it, but it looked like they were using loads of paint so I thought it would mess with curing but you've shown that you can totally use it and it works!!! Well done, Claire! Can't wait to test it myself xD. x

I love these experimental videos seeing the different results. My fav colour is the mica powder, that muted sea glass colour is just gorgeous. Great outcome. They are still all so pretty even if some didn’t turn out as vibrant as you expected. I actually love the muted ones best but still Love them all xx

Claire- what a wonderful experiment! I just received the Jesmonite and can’t wait to use it. I’m planning on making a square plate and I want to use a green that is a sage color, and then put a birthday card in the middle before the resin top coat. This will be for an October 22 TH-cam collaboration with Aishu’s Crafty Kids Club. The piece I finish will be for a friend’s birthday. I’m going to experiment with acrylic paint, alcohol ink, and a Jesmonite green to see which color outcome I like best. Thanks so much for doing this experiment so I don’t have to. I love your channel, by the way.

My first experiment is using acrylic with jesmonite, the colour turns out great but there'll be tiny white spots for some colours i used. i have no idea the acrylic itself can be mixed with jesmonite straight away! i usually mixed it with some water to dilute the colour first but turns out there'll be more bubbles instead. Thank you for sharing this, Claire! xx

I forgot to write something that the acrylic resin manufacturer in my country told me (maybe it works for Jesmonite too): Chinese ink and water-based inks (such as liquid acrylic) and anhiline for dyeing clothes can also be used as a colorant. I haven't tried it yet but it's worth a try. Here in Argentina pigments are not available in a liquid state and therefore it is very difficult to reproduce an exact color that we are looking for.

So glad you did this video Claire I’ve ordered myself a kit to start experimenting with jesmonite and was wondering if I can use mica powder and you’ve answered my question and saved me time so grateful thank you 😊

Heyyyy Rema .. so glad you found it helpful xx You can use MICA powder and get a lovely colour ... but you really do need A LOT !! to get that colour come through x

I would say the acrylic paint was the closest in color. The Jesmonite Pigment was very concentrated and vivid, but did not look like the bottle. I wonder if just adding more of each would get them close to the represented colors. And how much of each type can be added before either it does not set or cause it to possibly break easier.

Hey Mos .. that is such a great point to make ! I never add that much Jesmonite pgment to any project .. I like paler shades but yes the acrylic paint was the closest match x

Very helpful thanks! Can you use the jesmonite directly in a silicone mould before pouring the jesmonite paste over it? I have a giraffe mould & want to try doing the patterns in various yellows, brown & white. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Briony .. yes you can fill the mould with jes... and paint it after. With Acrylic Paint

Sorry, I didn't word that properly, what I should have said is can I put the jesmonite pigment directly in the mould to make up the pattern & then pour the jesmonite mix over that into the mould. Anyway, I tried & it picked up some of the pigment & the rest stained the mould. 🙈 So you learn 🤣🤣 Thanks for your reply Claire, love your videos!

@@brionyholloway8454 ohhhhh .. sorry 🙈🙈 no you cannot pour the pigment directly in the mould it will be very sticky like a glue when you de mould. I mean ... you can it .. but the oigment on its own doesn't act good

Hi Claire, I’m one of your recent followers, I really like your videos they are very helpful.
I’m a beginner to jesmonite and today I made 2 coaster of jesmonite by following your tricks and tips. Problem is that there are some many tiny holes on the surface. How can I get rid of them and what can I do so it’s doesn’t come nxt time ? I wanted to share pic of my project with you , where can I do that.
    Thanks

Anyone coming to Claire's video in 2023, just FYI Resin8 (the final test Claire did) went into administration earlier this year. I only know this because I tried to get a refund on products that had leaked terribly in transit, and found the website had a notice from the administrators on the front page. Hmm... 🙃
The Jesmonite pigment definitely gives you best bang for your buck, alcohol ink will always pale in comparison because it's a dye, not a pigment - think sugar in water (dye), as opposed to mud in water (pigment). I bet *Golden Acrylics* would give you an _even better_ result than the Arteza. They're pricey, but for a reason - they're the most intensely pigmented acrylics I've ever used - a little goes a _very_ long way!

Hi Claire, loving your Jesmonite videos. I was wondering if you have ever dusted a mold with mica powders and then added the Jesmonite? I have a lovely large seahorse silicon mold and i want to be able to colour different parts of the mold with mica powders and chameleon micas. Kind regards Tink.

brilliant video Claire, i’ve still to crack open my jesmonite kit 🙊😂 but i’ll do so soon. This was great to watch, i’ve also seen another video where they added the mic to the powder first, and the “wet” colour mediums to the liquid part before combining the two. I’d be curious to see if that made any difference 🤔 Maybe i’ll try that some. I bought retarder the other week, i’m fortunate to live around the corner from a jesmonite supplier. yay. As always, loved your video.⭐️

Heyyyy lovely .... yes Mica powder does work but you would need a Tablespoon of it to show any colour so I just had to do it in equal measures but it definitely can show up with a lot more colour than this did. Xx
