Erotica was such a special era. I don't think current mainstream artists can get away with writing an album where the theme is just straight up kinky sex, now. I was a kid when this album came out, but I remember the news going crazy about her Sex book, the Justify My Love video, and her appearances on Letterman.
This is real?!? How have I never heard this version?!? I’ve been listening to Madonna since the mid 80’s, kept up with the demos, especially the Rain Tapes since Erotica is my favorite album, and I have never heard this! The other versions of You Thrill Me have been around forever, and I have never heard this rendition before. I am obsessed! Considering this is the 25th Anniversary of Erotica, I really think Madonna should release versions like this in some kind of collector’s edition. The Erotica demos remind me of movies with deleted scenes actually worth watching. There is content from this era in the vault worth releasing. In the meantime, I will be downloading this and jamming to it in my car.

I was 13 days away from my 21st b-day when I saw "The Girlie Show" In NYC at MSG on October 17, 1993. My sister took me as my bday present & she loves Madonna as much as I do & if you didn't see "The Girlie Show" Live the dvd (Live Down Under) does not do it justice but no Madonna concert on dvd comes close to the live show & I'm sitting there & when the show started with the big velvet curtain & all of a sudden "Circus" music starts I thought ummm ok !!!!! LOL but so excited the concert started & then The 1st notes of Erotica starting playing & I am screaming like a 12 yr old girl LOL But wait while Erotica starts a a little part of the red curtain opens & well there's a clown/mime standing there so my head goes back to (UMMMMMM OK, I'm a bit confused LOL) & then the spotlight hits this tall go-go pole on which a topless dancer Carrie Ann Inaba performed doing flips & spins ect all the way down this pole that I think was at least 60 FT long & then all of a sudden the queen herself emerges from the bottom of the stage & slowly comes up with this super short platinum blonde pixie cut & a riding crop in her hand with her black mask on & her long black gloves & her sequins little jacket & a black Sequins bra & sequins shorts & these killer boots that went up to her knees & & then when Erotica was done she went into "Fever" everyone exploded screaming & cheering & I will say out of all her 10 tours this opening number (Erotica) is in my top 3 Fav opening #'s.
And if THIS "Love Hurts" TRACK was the official version, while the album version of "Erotica" that everybody knows leaked 6 months ago, you would have said the same thing. "Oh, the demo is better!". Your "imo" is such a bullshit.
I’ve only just learned of the links between ‘Love Hurts’, ‘You Thrill Me’ & Erotica. Having the maxi disc of Japanese mixes of ‘Erotica’ across both tracks there are all these bits and pieces of both these earlier iterations. Just fascinating & revelatory. I’m blown away by a bit of Madonna’s musical journey I had no idea existed! 🤩
This is just so much better than the album version. It’s so daunting. Love each part of it. The instrumental it’s just a jewl. I suspect this has something to do with the collaboration between her and Michael Jackson that never happened cuz of the Remember the Time lyrics reference. This is a gem for fans

I highly doubt that the sustaining musical track as we hear it here is authentic. The vocals for the spoken passages & the chorus are real, but most the sustaining musical track stinks of having been fan-made. I also suspect that some of the moaning & a few brief passages of singing are fan-made as well. I'm really diggin' the extended 'rap', but this "love hurts" chorus is just as mediocre as that "You Thrill Me" version of "Erotica" that everyone was so enamored with in the last few years,
