I'm not here to suggest for Disney, but Sinbad, Arabian Nights, Atlantis, Easter, Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, Quest for Camelot, Black Cauldron, Wonderland, Neverland, Mulan, Swan Lake, Thumbelina, Annie, Oliver Twist, Pied Piper, Jack Beanstalk, Emperor's Clothes...
Awesome!!! So glad you choose this as a platform. When I say to some younger people, "You know Disney didn't write these fairytales." They are shocked. It just tickles me how many people don't know the stories are not Disney originals.
When I was a kid, I saw the dark version of "The Little Mermaid." I cried when I saw the cartoon and asked my dad why it was so different from the Disney version. He said, "Tales are narrated in different versions." I was so confused; I thought stories should be told in truth. Later, in my little grandma's library when we moved to her island, there I read the tales Disney improvised.
It's no different than foot binding, removing rib bones, squeezing your waste so much that your organs are moved out of place and you can not longer stand up without supports, injecting your face with goo that turns out will never "disolve" and just moves around your face, etc etc.
I was 6 years old when Disney's The Little Mermaid was released. I was obsessed with that movie. Then I started school and discovered the original Fairy tale in my school library. I borrowed that book so many times, they might as well have just given it to me hahaha. Anyways... it fascinated me so much that there was this alternative version where the mermaid had pain while walking and never ended up with the prince. It kind of broke my heart... but I couldn't shake the sense that this version was closer to how real life works. I still love Disney's version - but in some weird sense I believed in both versions. One of my mom's best friends worked for a publisher and she gave the rejected books that couldnt be sold to the public, to us. Some of it included the old fairy tales in original form. So I grew up with the darker themed stories and you know what.. I think it helped shaped my intellect. I'm glad that I got to read this stuff as an 8 or 9 year old. I think it helped me understand life with more wisdom.
People trying to protect people with their view of the world. All while harming people. There's a reason these stories were told the way they were. We need to go back.

My mother read the original stories when I was a little girl and I loved them! On the Cinderella story; Even as a kid, I always wondered how it was that if the prince was so infatuated and in love with her, why did he need the slipper to find her again? Wouldn't he know her by sight?
Typically, not really due to the fact that her identity was always hidden for a reason. So the slipper was necessary for finding her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have found Cinderella.
I grew up with the story of The Little Mermaid in which she spared the prince and became one of the fairies of the air. That's my favorite, and when I first watched the Disney version, I scoffed at it. Life is harsh, you don't always get what you want, but if you treat people with kindness, sometimes you're unexpectedly rewarded. I will say, I also loved the live action version and all the positive messages in it - especially about being heard, and differing peoples coming together to learn about each other and begin to appreciate what each group brings.
So sad that the Disney Company abandoned Walt's original vision. People everywhere are still suffering from the hardships of life and still need stories of hope, overcoming, and magic.
I LOVE THESE! Thank you so much for bringing them to us so beautifully and with excellent observations. Since childhood, I have adored Hans Christian Andersen, and have been fully aware that his amazing stories have been reinterpreted in multiple ways, seldom faithful to the original versions. My vote is for the darker versions, please! It's great to be happy and to find hope in this challenging, changing world, however we may have had enough of the sweet stuff that puts us to sleep. When we face the reality that lives between the darkness and the light, we are free from both extremes to find the truth that lives within. Once again, my gratitude, please continue your excellent work.🙏❤🩹💕🤩
There are so many versions of these stories. Disney is always about making things more uplifting. I love Disney's animated little mermaid no question. But my favorite movie version will always be the 1970's anime that follows book more. Yes, it's more depressing, but not everything in life is sunshine and rainbows. And that's okay too.
According to literary analysis, the original "Little Mermaid" story by Hans Christian Andersen is widely interpreted as a metaphor for unrequited gay love, with the mermaid's longing for the prince representing Andersen's own feelings for his close friend, Edvard Collin, who ultimately married a woman, leaving Andersen heartbroken and unable to express his love openly in that time period.
Why does everyone assume Disney was the creator of these stories.. the Grim Brothers are the ones who traveled the world to put these stories together for a book
the stories were modified past the depression, it's been decades since and we may need the next generation to realise the grim realities than keep them in a fairy tale of a life that really isn't.
I prefer Disney's original Little Mermaid because I just love the songs and colors. It kicked off the Renaissance era. You just can't beat that. Back when we didn’t even realize how good we had it.
My favorite is the remake, where they make the songs lack any romanticism, so the prince won't take any non-preconsensual liberties like all typical toxic male sexual predators would, and the seagull rap with awkwafina makes my ears bleed in the best possible way, and even inspires a new name for the little mermaid: Aquafiniqua which works so much more perfect than dumb ol' Ariel, with her paste face. She looks so much prettier with down-syndrome eyes on the side of her head...which helps her see predators better, and virtue signalling dark skin which would camouflage her better "under the sea" where the remake is accurate in its depiction of the ocean bottom being dark and colorless. Who wants colorful scenery? That just makes one's eyes hurt. She has her red hair still, which shows Disney's ability to be sensitive to all peoples and races, so that gingers don't feel like their culture is being appropriated. What a great movie. What a great remake. Maybe the best movie ever. Disney totally won't have an apology disclaimer before the movie in 50 years like they do now with Peter Pan and Dumbo. Seriously, being completely Seriously serious in saying that whomever made this movie should be given an award and not beaten to death with stones. The original animated Little Mermaid is good, but nothing compared to the sheer eye-rotting spectacle that is the remake. Way to go Aquafiniqua! Way to teach kids they should have princesses same color as them because they shouldn't ever ever relate to or sympathize with people not the same color as them, especially white people.
I would like to see someone make a Cinderella remake that’s actually like the original Brothers Grimm version. Has anyone done that? They should have by now they’ve made a million other remakes.
There is,but it’s fully in German and called Aschenputtel ,most of the remakes were familiar with are based on the Perrault version. You should also check out the musical “Into the Woods “ either the movie or stage version, Cinderella is based on the Grimm version there .
I like the original mermaids story because the reason she wants to be human is to be immortal and she achieves that. I dont think it is dark but it is really christian as immortality comes through sacrifice and pain
Great to see you made a video about the original version of The Little Mermaid. 😊 Maybe one day you can make a video about The Juniper Tree. That is one creepy fairytale.
@HeavenlyCreature. I love The Little Mermaid, I just had to do it.😊 I saw Juniper Tree show up a few times when I was doing research for this one. Very dark and definitely would make for a good video.
@@MystikManor Before Disney's Mermaid came out, I remember watching the anime version of The Little Mermaid-- which was spot on the original Hans Christian Anderson fairytale all the way down to feeling like her legs were being pierced by needles whenever she danced and her sisters selling their hair for a magical knife to kill the prince and his beloved wife (who was never romantically interested in the little mermaid anyway and already engaged when she arrived) to spill their blood on her legs so she could turn back and not die by turning into sea foam... FYI I was born in '82 and we never could afford the theater so I never saw the Disney movies until they were either debuted on TV or bought on VHS 📼😅😅... But even as a very young child I found the anime version much more captivating and magical and mysterious... The Disney one was good fun and all, but I guess being exposed to the original fairytale FIRST with the heart-rending ending of self-sacrifice for the happiness of the one that you loved was somehow more POWERFUL to me even as a child....
@ambertypereiraty3627 Oh, trust me, I remember the VHS all too well!😅 I wish I would have kept some of those. I've never seen the anime version but that's great that they tried to stay true to the original. It definitely hits different. The weight of the original story’s bittersweet ending stays with you in a way that’s hard to forget. It’s amazing how kids can pick up on such deep and emotional themes. That's one reason I love covering stories like these. They're very powerful and relatable.
I agree with you the little mermaid animation is beautiful it looks so real. The prince she rescued from drowning is handsome they made a pair. Ariel she's so gorgeous with blue eyes. Everything looks Real I believe Mermaids do exist.
We shouldn’t be shielding the kids from the real world. It sets them up to fail. They’re already smarter than us so when we lie to them it makes them not trust us and hold resentment toward us later. Authenticity is key.

I grew up in the Philippines, and the bedtime stories I heard as a child were not fairy tales. They always had a moral lesson for children to learn common sense. In the real world, there are no Disney happy endings, even when you find love.
Yes he created a world full of magic and less hardship, but there is still a lot of dark symbolism in almost all the Disney movies, and in todays films they push alot of sexuality themes at children. I grew up watching Disney movies, so it’s safe to say over the years I’ve watched as they changed. Now I’m disappointed and disgusted by Disney and their agenda aimed at children.
I definitely enjoyed the Brothers Grimm version the best! Reading the gory details was a fascinating perspective I never knew since my original version I first saw was Disneys version.
Even with Mr Walt Disney newly made versions, there were some plots of tragedy & loss, just like reality can make us endure. However, still prevailed into hope & happy ending. So his plots actually had more moral & lessons, which leads into blessing.
And the little mermaid has more to it , the author has some revealing details about his love for another man , a love that could not take place in such a time. The little mermaid is thought to be the author’s alter ego
I thought that most people knew about the original stories. Obviously Disney wanted to make it child friendly. The stories here are beautiful drawn or created!
Beautiful CGI coupled with interesting original stories. Glad I subscribed. You could do some Celtic legends and myths they're quite interesting too. Morgana Le Fey in the Arthurian legends is a compelling figure.
@CLS-m3j Thank you so much! I will definitely be covering Morgana in the future. I made a Merlin video already. Are there any specific Celtic legends and myths that you're thinking of? Also, thank you for the sub, so happy to have you as a Seeker!
I prefer the Disney version of the fairy tales. Life can be tough. Why make it tougher. Life should have some light, enjoyable moments that can be family friendly.
Same. Let kids be innocent as long as possible. They will be exposed to enough in life without ruining their childhoods with the dark, scary, nightmare causing versions of these tales.
Disney needs to go back to the animated films that the company was built on. Stop turning the animation into "real life." I like Disney's versions of both Cinderella and the Little Mermaid to the earlier versions of the stories. They are too dark for me.
Peter Berresford Ellis' "The Mammoth book of Celtic Myths and Legends" feature another cinderella story "Geal, Donn and Critheanach" where the sisters are real sisters and the girls are triplets.
I think I can understand about what Disney did initially, but nowadays to do that? The Hunchback, Scarlett Letter, and Count of Monte Cristo, there is no excuse to change the narrative! If you are going to change it, then leave them alone! I severely did not like what Disney Corporation did!
As a child I wanted the disney Little mermaid cartoon, but to my disappointment my mom bought me the 1975 movie on vhs. I still have it 30 years later and still cry after watching it.
When i was younger, there was a channel that played original fairy tales. I believe it was the Canon tales. But i think i saw original grimm stories and Hans too. But i was able to distinguish those compared to disney. The kids today...forget it
I would read my daughter from age 5 the happy version and then the dark one to the fairy tales. She loved the dark ones more and still has the dark versions to this day. She says she saving them for her kids!
@Earthpet711 Hans Christian Andersen leaves her fate open ended. She has not fully achieved redemption, but she’s given the chance to earn an immortal soul by performing good deeds for 300 years.
I don’t care if that prince in the little mermaid story was a prince. I wouldn’t stay with him. After he found me practically dead from almost drowning, and he had the nerve to put me on the floor on a cushion outside his door!!! He should be on the floor and give me the damn bed! So even in the old times men wanted to be the lady.
I remember reading Grimms Cinderella when I was younger. My mother passed a book full of the tales that was given to her. Too bad it was destroyed in a flood. I really like it. Anyway I was shocked but intrigued by that version. I liked the original versions of fairy tales better than the Disney versions.
Please do a video on Peter Pan. A fascinating Victorian story written to suggest that children who have died have a fun and exciting life in the hereafter, where they never grow up, and never grow old. There is a lot of similarities between the lost boys of victorian time with the poor addicted souls who have lost their way today, and their search for a loving mother.
@jeans.5252 Thank you for the suggestion and context. There’s so much depth to Peter Pan’s story. I’ve actually got something special in the works for Peter Pan coming very very soon...😊
Disney sanitizes everything! They sugar coat everything they touch! That's why I don't like it when Disney buys other franchises like..... Miraculous; Dr Who; The Muppets ..... to name few. Disney changes story lines & characters. Those sort of franchises need shades of darkness & to balance out their story lines & characters. Disney removes the darkness completely. I

Thanks 4shareing 🙏🏾 I really appreciate and enjoy the stroy😢👏🏾🎄🤶🏾🧑🏾🎄⛄🤩
You should do other lesser known fairytales from around the world, Like Adarna, Prince Lindworm, etc
Thank you. The videos are beautiful
I love what you are doing with these Beautifully AI storytelling videos!! Fantastic job!! The Narrator is wonderfully done!!
@angela_somanythings5670 Thank you so much!✨So happy that you like the videos!😊
If you think about it, her name is mentioned. It is Ella.
18:40 love house Cinderella didn't notice all the blood in the shoe. Must have been slippery. 😁😂 Sorry, sorry. Don't mind my warped sense of humor. 😂
And the little mermaid has more to it , the author has some revealing details about his love for another man , a love that could not take place in such a time. The little mermaid is thought to be the author’s alter ego
Thank you for sharing ❤
Those original stories are “ dark “ indeed . I enjoy them.. but I also enjoy Disney’s versions as well.
I always know everything that has magic always end up badly
I thought that most people knew about the original stories. Obviously Disney wanted to make it child friendly. The stories here are beautiful drawn or created!
this is my new favorite channel.
I really liked all the different versions. I had no clue. Well done. 😊
Should have gone a step further and drawn the little mermaid as the way she was described in the book. That would have been interesting too.
Cinderella was another favorite story
Disney needs to go back to the animated films that the company was built on. Stop turning the animation into "real life." I like Disney's versions of both Cinderella and the Little Mermaid to the earlier versions of the stories. They are too dark for me.
Agreed
Peter Berresford Ellis' "The Mammoth book of Celtic Myths and Legends" feature another cinderella story "Geal, Donn and Critheanach" where the sisters are real sisters and the girls are triplets.
I think I can understand about what Disney did initially, but nowadays to do that? The Hunchback, Scarlett Letter, and Count of Monte Cristo, there is no excuse to change the narrative! If you are going to change it, then leave them alone! I severely did not like what Disney Corporation did!
Watching Mickey's club house I noticed mickey casts spells through out, it's right there
In HCA's first print run of TLM, she just died. No daughter's of the air.
As a child I wanted the disney Little mermaid cartoon, but to my disappointment my mom bought me the 1975 movie on vhs. I still have it 30 years later and still cry after watching it.
The dark versions are better because for every action there is a payment made for said action.
I feel like the little mermaid story wasn't complete. Apparently, she was to have a chance at redemption, but what was it? Did she get her redemption?
@Earthpet711 Hans Christian Andersen leaves her fate open ended. She has not fully achieved redemption, but she’s given the chance to earn an immortal soul by performing good deeds for 300 years.
@MystikManor thank you for that information, I still wish you finished it in more of his stories.
@Earthpet711 You're welcome! Too bad he didn't make a sequel.
Original, There's more identifiable situations and more realistic characters than the reimagined versions. The lessons learned are the most important.
I don’t care if that prince in the little mermaid story was a prince. I wouldn’t stay with him. After he found me practically dead from almost drowning, and he had the nerve to put me on the floor on a cushion outside his door!!! He should be on the floor and give me the damn bed! So even in the old times men wanted to be the lady.
wow thats really good i hope they have that as a movie for grown ups ill put that in my grown up section of my book thank you for that idea
I liked them all. Could we see the dark version of Winne the Pooh?😊
@kevinjohnson4605 Interesting, never thought of that one. That just hit public domain in 2022 so that is definitely a possibility.
I'd like to see The Little Red Winding Hood.
I remember reading Grimms Cinderella when I was younger. My mother passed a book full of the tales that was given to her. Too bad it was destroyed in a flood. I really like it. Anyway I was shocked but intrigued by that version. I liked the original versions of fairy tales better than the Disney versions.
Me, too!
I'm sure you could find grimms books if you search
I love the old ones but I appreciate the tame ones for children
Since most ( if not all) of the fairy tales were really horror stories is it possible to bring to light other stories??
I've always hear about the original versions of fairytale. I would be interesting to see full movie versions of them.
DO PETER PAN NEXT!!! 🙏🏽 with your voice
Love the voice of the narrator, love the animation but did not know there's a nail polish already😊😊
Love the speaker voice ❤
Thank you for this I like it ❤
@MariaBrewer-o9f You're welcome. So happy you like it!✨
"I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something than educate people and hope they were entertained". Walt Disney
I love the original stories thank you
Can you do sleeping beauty next?
@callmethecommentcountess9329 Great suggestion! Sleeping Beauty has some surprisingly dark origins, so it's perfect! Thanks for the idea!
This is great love the stories
Once upon a time is that kind of dark original tale I adored!!
Can't believe she would go through this and lose parts of herself just for a man. 😫
I
Amazing 💖
@ZepetoGamergirl Thank you!✨
Are these from real movies...stunning graphics..love it
