When Starlift played Penny Lane in that wonderful pan show for Taste Of Carnival, it brought back so many beautiful memories, of Carnival long ago. Take a bow Starlift and the genius, Dr. Holman.

I heard Ray play an impromptu solo in Alaska (of all places!) and it was impeccable! I don’t recall hearing a single sour note. He would sing, too!

Oh the memories!! When I was a child, the Government Broadcasting Unit used this as its theme song every weekday morning at 6:45 a.m. I do not remember one thing about the GBU programmes but I love this music up to today.
It reminds me of a gentler, kinder Trinidad and Tobago. It also reminds me of going to piano lessons on Piccadilly St by Mrs. Thomas.
Thank you for posting it up.

I remember this as a child on the radio.... it was so good!...
I realize now, that so much of Holman’s Music accompanied programs on the radio....... this is the early ... well 70’s period!...
    Great piece!....

This arrangement always makes me wonder how come i personally keep hearing # ( Junior Pouchet) all over this arrangement even thou Starlift was Ray Holman. There was only one person in T&T with that sorth of phrasing in the melodie line, and the change of key in that fashon even the bass reminds me of Junior.Dont get angry with me people, I hear some of Junior Pouchet music footprints in this from start to finish..Anyway its beautifully arranged an i play it almost every winter..
