Is Sevarog The One True King Of Brawl? Predecessor Gameplay

Before this match took place I was told that I was already giving our team a guaranteed loss by picking Sevarog. I was told he was a terrible character and that I should quit. Little did this foolish mortal know the power Sevarog wields. As you can see from the thumbnail all who oppose the one true king pay with their lives!

I never play Sev is he like a hard but slow hitter?
I just see his low attack stat and the collecting souls mechanic and that turns me off.

He does take a bit more to consider than others but his ability to control situations and intimidate multiple opponents simultaneously makes it worth it. Sevarog's transformation is a sight to behold. At first he seems frail and weak and doesn't hit very hard however after he collects his souls he gets a large spike in damage and is almost indestructible.
