Used CO2 fire extinguisher MANY many times for oven fires. Never used an extinguisher for a stove top fire. By the time we arrive, the cupboards are burning also, so we used 1 3/4 “ hose for those.

Is it better to use c02 or powder for kitchen fires ? As many online websites are saying not to use c02 for kitchen oil fires

@@absbse I reccomend CO2 purely because it doesn't cover your kitchen in inedible powder, if you're in the room with the extinguisher as the fire starts you will have more than enough time to put it out before it spreads. Having an extinguisher accessible is important as you'll be able to put the fire out when it's at it's smallest.
Also one thing to consider with a powder extinguisher is if someone would be discouraged from using it because of the mess, if you have children then they might feel they should put the fire out in a way that doesn't create mess so you won't know they started a fire. This isn't an issue with CO2 extinguishers as they leave no mess (besides maybe a few oil splatters), and it will always be the option with the least cleanup.
Most importantly of all is that everyone knows where it is and how and when to use it.
