- Finally, a diagnosis. I.g.A Vasculitis.
What is I.g.A Vasculitis?
IgA Vasculitis, formerly called Henoch-Schönlein purpura or HSP, is a disease that causes the antibody immunoglobulin A to collect in small blood vessels, which then become inflamed and leak blood. Nearly all people with IgA vasculitis develop a red or purple rash NIH external link. Some people with IgA vasculitis also develop problems with their gastrointestinal (GI) tract, joints, and kidneys because of inflamed blood vessels in the intestines, joints, and kidneys. In rare cases, the lungs, nervous system, or other organs may be affected.
This journey has been most probably the worst experience that I have had.
I am a Lady with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy. A Brain disease. I cannot take blood thinners as I experience bleeds in the brain. I then needed a Hip Replacement that required me to take blood thinners. Problem number 1. A plan was devised and the surgery went ahead.
7 days later I experienced a slight rash on the legs that escalated to both legs, thigh to toes, crusty, puss filled lesians that were both painful and debilitating along with trying to recover from hip surgery.
Follow my story.
I.g.A Vasculitis was also known as Henoch-Schonlein Purpura.
