Kent the double index wrench is a big help but I had no clearance to get the 17mm bolts out until I removed the AC line bracket blocking removal of the bolts.. It took over 3 hours. Replacing the alternator on my Toyotas is 10-15 minutes. Terrible job on my 85.

You can buy a Bosch AL129X and use a dual pulley. 115 amps
