OKAY so i think i realize why Kendrick was willing to shoot shots at J. Cole along with Drake ❗️
i think Kendrick was savvy to the trafficking and predation within Drake's camp and told J Cole about it. but Cole's been pushing so hard and so heavy for fame and success that he overlooked it.
so when J. Cole made the single and hit the tour with Drake, Kendrick was hurt, disappointed, and angry.
Kendrick figured he could use this moment, all the hype of Drake's first American tour in 5 years, the creation of that single, Cole & Drake being commercially tied together... to "peel back the layers." he decided this was the perfect opportunity to expose the trafficking, the predation, the circles that he seems to be saying Drake is running in and this is the way it would get the most publicity.
so he joined the Like That track. he prepared some pushes, secured his moles in OVO, and started getting his protection against these much larger and more sinister powers in these trafficking rings.
honestly, it's probably the safety of his family & loved ones that's the reason for any of his delays, his timing on releases. something no reactors or anybody on Genius seems to be highlighting is that Kendrick repeating "Crodie" isn't just a diss to Toronto, Drake, and Drake's cat... but affirming, maybe, that he's made connections or truces with the Crips of his own town, Compton, in preparation for this. it would be easy to say Kendrick was killed by a Crip for gang reasons give his Blood ties, and we'd have a 2Pac scenario all over again
in terms of getting people talking about it, he even masterfully planned it with the Euphoria release on Tuesday knowing (via moles) Drake was waiting to have a full music video that would launch on Friday -- the biggest day for dropping music.
then Kendrick released 6:16 knowing he had Meet The Grahams in his back pocket -- KNOWING Drake was gonna drop Family Matters and KNOWING 3 diss tracks in one day would create more hype than anything else could.
add into that the photo of Drake's belongings and claims of there being a mole, he sowed insane amounts of distrust within OVO while pointing the lens right at them for these alleged crimes.
i might even guess these crimes, if true, have been multiplied in their number or increased in their heinousness since Drake was paid that $400M record deal. that could be in part to his own desire to spend/make money even if it's dirty OR as part of the record deal itself. either is terrifying, and seems possible.
