Welcome to an Ehler-Danlos Person's nightmare... I didn't want to count how many dislocations would be happening but his hypermobility is terrifying. And LORD, YOU DON'T WANT THAT FLEXIBLE S**T... I feel like crying 😂😂
ETA: Ehler-Danlos is the name of a collection of genetic defects on the primary collagen gene (C1A1). This means that every cell in the body has 'brittle' bonds, but it shows up most in connective tissue. In people with the condition (aka hypermobility Syndrome Spectrum Disorder) the rubber bands that hold joints in place are faulty and if not caught in childhood and treated with life-long physiotherapy, those rubber bands degrade and remain stretched out of shape permanently. This leads to joints literally falling out of their sockets until relocated, normally by the person with the condition who have learned how to effectively manage their joint issues because unless a family member has it, getting diagnosed as a kid is rare. Like super rare. To give you a run down of what I managed today, I woke up with my left hip and knee dislocated, so I relocated them manually. Later my left hip went another time, both knees repeatedly and my wrists and shoulders.
Not only is this condition one of joint pain and problems, it also has many co-morbid conditions like a heart condition that means if you stand up too quick you pass out or, even more terrifyingly, some people are ticking time bombs and could die any moment from the walls of the main aorta from the heart or vein into it can rupture and that's instant death. It can make your brain protrude from the base of the skull as a Chiari Malformation and that's only marginally better. Diagnosing the condition takes years in many cases, the symptoms commonly becoming problematic as you hit your teens, and I went 14 years before someone took me seriously. Fourteen years of not knowing the symptoms you experience are abnormal as no one points it out to you unless you ask the right questions. So, being flexible like all kpop idols and millions of dancers around the world are, this level of flexibility isn't normal at all, not even as 'aquired' or 'trained' flexibility found in dancers.
