Hi Al... just wanted to share this experience with you. I recently took on a job playing Solo guitar. Good money, easy gig. ($85 per hour for a two-hour engagement). I put a repertoire together consisting of classical, flamenco, jazz, blues, and R&B. It was like a circus in there!!! Unappreciative people hollering out requests, begging for the microphone, high traffic in and out of the performance area. Halfway through the first hour I told the administrator that this was not working out. Her response was "Kevin you're a little bit too classy for us"... At that moment I recognized that I should only be playing what I love, to who I know will appreciate it, in upscale environments. What I was trying to do was please a group of people in order to fulfill a financial obligation. "Nevermore said the raven"... once again you've helped me to recognize... stick with your passion ( Rich, Exotic, and Sophisticated)... regardless of the outside circumstances, be true to yourself, and be happy.. Thanks again Al.
That's a great anecdote Kevin and something that I can wholeheartedly relate to. Soul destroying but at the end of the day I just taken the money and run.
