Imagine sacrificing your very soul and sanity to obtain power from some very powerful magical quartz and going all out fighting this one goofy skeleton clown, only to discover the only reason said clown is going slow and easy on you is because it's just trying to watch how you're attacking him and is having a great time doing so.
This is such a great summary of the story and this video. 😄
I love how Skul lore is just a random newly revived skeleton singlehandedly takes out an entire nation without any help and on his first attempt, bonks his father many times, then says "fuck it" and does it again, *but harder* (and in an alternate dimension). And also in 1 attempt with 0 help.
I mean, he does technically get help from the witch, ogre, Druid, and test subjects
@@thegreatkiwibeast2591 Test subjects sure but for lore it's all 1 continuous run so he doesn't get like anything from Druid, Cyclops, or Hunter until Hardmode
Love the fact that, when you found the heart, you've already maxed out the Hand of Glory. But just because it's the combo of having the two to max out the one, it's good just to have in general.
Not only that, but since the heart of the ascetic makes you stay at 50% health, he effectively has less HP now lol

Always great to see. I hope that the thing at the end of the new First Hero fight is an unlockable skull. It's presented in that way, at least.
Did you know that the spirit in between areas has different dialog for every new area you enter in every new difficulty setting? Don't skip out on it cause its digging into the lore.
Been doing this Hard Mode update only for that...
It is enraging to die to the Hero and get the same dialogues AGAIN...
Just realized that Medal Box is actually significantly better in hard mode since it's +1 hero every time. You'd get 4 stacks off of the hero fight in the third area.
love the fact that beelz only looked at 4% per 10hp and not the fact that 30 stacks is max (120%)

I think the bone fragment dark ability is fine, since you only have a chance to obtain it in a run. That basically makes it as strong as a legendary item or skull. And even then you have to forego item and money rooms and not get hit too often in the normal rooms for it to reach its maximum effect in the hero fight
Also, I think shield skull is going to look at hard mode, laugh at it and spit in its face

Beelz, the bone fragment thing is fine. In order to do what you did you have to-
Have at least one legendary skull already.
Have a build that is, if not finished, then close enough to finished not to matter anymore.
Find the bone fragment power.
Find more skull rooms afterwards.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good ability, but only if you find it in the late game on a build that already does what it needs to. It’s a win-more power for people who are good at the game, like you, and a functional safety net for people who aren’t… like me
I gotta say, my favorite parts through all these, have been:
-you pretty much dominating
-the nonchalant "no, die"'s
-and the super country "Is that the heart of...?!"

Love Beelz on hard mode, really fun content. I've never been that good at Skul, so it's nice to have someone who can casually hop around the Hero fight like it's nothing and just observe.
These new enemies have so much personality to them! The Shake Shaker is probably my favorite. And always fun watching your vids

as i saw at the end of the last vid, i'm glad they're giving us the power of choice (even if it's just commons) i hope they'll apply this in normal mode as well after beating a run
It’s crazy, this update is so much fun. I ran it twice yesterday and had very opposite runs, a ghoul run that was tanky enough to withstand the hero’s second phase beating my ass, and a king run that made the second phase disappear like normal. Race you to level 9!
i like how beelz kept talking about destroying ninja in the last shop , guess he forgot you can't destroy the skull you swap with the headless. also that Dad slow at the end was his move not kingslayer. its a dash across the floor that grabs you and slams you in the wall. about 40 dmg total or so. its sick
The missed treasure chest around 20 minutes will haunt me forever

In the last fight you got almost 750 HP with the frags + life, Clown just turned the last boss of the game
I've found archlich's archnemesis... its the tiny slimes. His chains go right over them.
Since we can now select from all common skulls when we start hard mode, wouldn't it be more interesting if skull rooms never dropped them as rewards? They could drop only rares and up
i feel that is an indirect buff towards the bone shield. which did it really is ridiculous how good it is. although it is banking on that you arent good at dodgeing everything
@@tylercunanan8255 Yeah, in that case, they would need to nerf the bone shield. It is already a bit too strong
@@etccte1 I mean, it was strong because he truly didn't need any more bones, and his build was already done, so he didn't need any money or items anymore, otherwise he couldn't have focused into bones as much as he did.
It seems insane, but i truly think it's all about the circumstances of your current run, if you're still maxing out a skull, if you're still looking for items, if you still need money, thats where it's balance comes in, also the fact that it's not guaranteed to show up every time either, and when it does show up its not going to be what you need every time.
It seems like only common skulls but when he chooses one off the machine a bar at the top drains, he might have to charge? it by not taking a skull for a while and it will start giving him rarer skulls, it's all new so all we can do is wait and see or be at Beelz's level.
@@laharlkent It seems its under the same logic as the non mirrored. you can bring in 2 items and skuls with you and seems like only common level for now. i have no idea if higher levels of the mirror allows for rarer stuff

im pretty sure someone must've said this already (or you knew it already and still did it for the memes) but, you didnt really need Heart for the hand of glory combo, since Hand counts current max hp and not "extra max hp", so technically you need 300 max hp to cap out hand of glory (as you can see on the icons below), which you can easily reach by breaking quints and getting the super baby perk, saving yourself a precious item slot

the evil druid npc gives an item that has the inscription sin which changes all damage to physical or magical depending on which stat is higher
Well, that definitely made the Dark Hero look easy--although he didn't go down without a fight, and still tore through a good chunk of your bones!
Goddamn, this update's going to be amazing when it's all complete! I'm hyped to see how much my ass'll get handed to me there! Should prove to be good practice, though. Just try a difficulty way above normal, get accustomed, then head back to normal and see how easy it'll feel in comparison!

Aging looks like it'd be OP on Mage's Necklace Magic Skul
Since some of the translations are not perfect, one cursed dark ability is crazy powerful but misspelled. The one which says 45% amplification on "alternating skills" is actually "alternating skulls". So if you swap right before you enter a room, then swap into the skull you want you get a 45% overall damage amplification boost. Its basically a must pick every time.
Yeah, it did appear on previous video before this one. Beelz kinda guess that it's activated after changing skulls from the ability icon.

With all the excessive options for shields, damage output and life I am guessing the enemies(at least the bosses) are going to start ramping up their damage and life after all the new enemies are introduced. Maybe by Dark Mirror 5. Or you will have barely a pixel free to stand in because the screen will be filled with so many enemies.
You could make an entirely offence items focused Shield run and still have a huge hp pool and amount of shielding using the quartz hearts. It's so fun looking!

Sort of, when I still did speedruns you often deliberately get hurt to maintaining doing dmg. I died more than a few times on decent runs thanks to Orc etc.

It dawns on me that the 'worlds' behind the dark mirror embody a world in which the First Hero wasn't being lied to by the kingdom of Carleon, resulting in him using the power of the Dark Quartz. Of the 5 main bosses in the 'normal' route, he is the only one that doesn't use the Dark Quartz. Interestingly, he isn't ill on the other side of the mirror. I wonder if the power of the Quartz is what helped him remain healthy in this reflection.

For hybrid runs I typically build into attack speed and crit rather than raw damage.

The hero has become the dark avenger skull.
So with the bone fragment thing, it is 1 bone fragment for 4 damage, but attacks less than 4 damage will still absorb a fragment. So technically the amount of damage it absorbs is a range from the n - (n x 4) where n is the number of bone fragments you have. So still really good but likely not always absorbing the full (n x 4) amount

300 HP maxes out Hand of Glory. Heart of the Ascetic made you have less effective HP, though it was still fun to see you so excited for it.
All it does is double your cap whilst halving how much you have, so it would be basically the same. If anything it's just a wasted sot. BUT the moral of the story is we finally got em both together

Truth to be told, the Bone Shield curse make you take WAY less damage, but you should not think yourself invincible. They can be comboed off REAL fast. But sure you can learn A LOT of the fight.
Instead, the OP one is King Slayer, just less tension for my poor heart.
Did not get to use a curse based on a status effect yet. A pity.

I feel like the bone thing might be silly on dark paladin, since you lose fragments before shields. You get less defensive benefit out of constantly refreshing a small shield, but you're always empowered until the fragments are gone.
PPS: you did not lose that much HP, it counted the loss from the Heart.
I'm curious to see if as the difficulty gets higher if the bosses or the dark enemies get some more extra attacks or effects
Also what the extra spaces will fill with for the dark abilities
Hey beelz, I just found out the most amazing thing ever. I got the two swords the ones that give you physical I got one from the shop and second from the king slime and it made the dawn of the crimson sun its a physical item that increases by physical 100% and creates a crimson light when attacking a enemy its a amazing item

I still am determined they know what they are doing with the revealed leg of the mirror dimension witch-
I have a theory !!!!! Since this is hard mode......And they are introducing new moves with new elites and stuff.........Something clicked when you fought Yiggy !! On your first run at level 0 he didn't do his hand swipe move across the screen even though you waited a long time. And now that this is level 1 it seems like he introduced a new move for this level, the hand swipe with rocks bursting out. It will be interesting to see the rest of the bosses and if they introduce a new move at this level. In theory, since it seems like hard more is going to have 9 levels (at least for now) then the bosses will theoretically be ramping up in difficulty as you reach each level. The devs have more surprises in store for us as we get further into hard mode with even more moves from the bosses ! I hope. In theory each level of hard mode is going to increase in difficulty and by level 9 there will be uber bosses with a whole new move set from the original mode.
Looks like that game change a lot after year, I barely recognize some maps, new mini bosses damn
I was wondering if the power skulls will need the wings to evade some of the attacks that the hero does
I got berserker in my first hardmode run and won it. Also got lucky with the ring, the pod of greed and hopeslasher tho
The bones block up to 4 pr bone, but any damage below that also consumes a full bone, even if you were hit for 1 or 2.
Should you take 5 damage then it would consume 2 bones.
Finally an actual challenge
