Good to see you joined the ProCat club ;) it’s a lovely buggy that body does really grow on you especially once painted up. I’m really liking mine now it’s finished. Enjoy :)
So Glad that you got this on the channel Gavin will be anxious to see how it goes together and also the running of it and huge thanks RDModels for helping out the channel thats just super kind and a lovely gesture , cheer's Gavin thanks for the Video 🙂
I want to get this amazing buggy! Back in the day, I was all about oval racing! When this came out! I just want to build it and just look at that! haha. Yup this 4wd buggy was king then! Awesome video brother!
Hey Gavin, thought you might be along with one of these. Got mine last Monday, but it's staying in the box while I gather some hop-ups and electrics. Already got carbon chassis, top deck and rear shock mounts, and a few more bits in the next few weeks. I'll probably build it over Xmas hols so will be great to see your build so I can see what i'm in for. You can be the guinea pig 😃 I suspect it will be very similar to the XLS which wasn't your fave build 😟 All the best!
This buggy looks REALLY NICE. Not really a buggy fan, color scheme of this car really does the body and the stance of this model justice. I think you can pull this paint scheme off. Would really like to see you do a montage of the masking and painting this body. I don't know if this will help, but planning and writing down the steps? The carbon fiber upgrades are interesting. Going to do a search to see if the rear motor mount /bulkhead assembly is available in carbon fiber. The L1 EVO version is an eye opener! Can't believe I am writing this, Cat L1 EVO looks like it gets everything the Optima mid has built into it but better. The L1 reminds me of a high end touring chassis with an off-road suspension. Getting all the bags and parts trees and body back in the box after rushing home and opening the kit and commencing to roll around in it like a "Cat".... I've got paper road maps that have been wadded up for 30 years sitting next to a Rubik's cube and the instructions to set the clock on a VCR. If I ever managed to get a model kit back in the box correctly I'm afraid it would create a rift in the space-time continuum and form a quantum singularity inside a rapidly spinning neutron star and the resulting explosion would leave me at the bottom of a huge smoking hole looking like Wiley Coyote after an ACME products delivery. My TT-01 CLK kit, the lid will only go back over the carton 3/4 of the way. It's sitting right here on my tool box. LOL you said "D bag" ....
I used to really like schu stuff. Had a fair few 10th elec and ic. I knew a schu team racer and he opened his own shop in Kent so was there a lot, no discounts though!
Very nice! I also got my Procat some days ago and can't wait to build it! But the Mi8 was more important at the moment! 😅 Schumachers will always be nice and fast!
Loving the Chanel and the content mate. This video helped me regain the brain cells I killed off by watching A.N. Other TH-camr smash a traxxas off a ramp flat out then just drive into things while jumping about like a whizzed up gibbon…..
Modern RC race buggy & bodyshell designers: Hats off to you all for what you achieve performance-wise. No complaints. But please, please, please: Can we drop the ugly-creature- what-we-found-living-under-a-rock / amphibious assault vehicle / jedi fighter from planet Hoth buggy design, and go back to making beautiful looking machines like these again? I'm pretty sure nobody would mind, even if it cost them half a second a lap or so. That'd be grand. Ta
Really wanted an XLS as it was closer to cats I remember from back in the day. The procat body doesn't resonate in the same way for me with the wider body. Do you know if it's possible to recreate XLS look with body and narrower chassis or is it more complicated than that?
Cat XLS final answer at the buzzer Johnny that makes missed you Gavin Lucas super smile with that charming face in the chica look at all those cars Eugene a e i o u sometimes why I got to see your face on your TH-cam channel I never knew what Gene look like he had a kinder surprise for me
10x. I really appreciate your various answers for my questions even on all the old movies.... Love your channel so am watching all of the older content as well 😀
Lovely video Gav! Quick question, did you change your lighting in the studio? Was getting really bad light refracting off all the plastic giving it a blue hue at times
Depends what you are looking to do with it. If it’s for 100% vintage racing the Pro Cat will take it. That said working on the Pro Cat isn’t as easy as the Mid. Quality wise the Mid is better and it can take brushless out the box with no expensive upgrade required. The Mid also has the belt tensioner added out the box. If it’s just for a bit of back garden fun and sitting on the shelf, go for the one you like the look of the most.
Nothing contraversal about the body, the XLS looks better 👍 but the procat body is nice when painted. The bosscat is a better looking buggy to the procat imho.
She’s most welcome to come and do all mine lol. I splashed out on some special pliers to do the C clips on the shocks. I’m sick of doing them with old bent needle tweezers
why didn't tamiya do the "each bag is a build"? The hunting for parts isn't a huge deal for an adult, but it's a pain for kids. Tamiya just seems content to continue making profit off of stuff developed 3-4 decades ago.
Don't understand why they use such an ugly body painting on the reedit box, doesn't do justice to the body which is quite nice, deserves a nicer paint Would love a cat 2000 ! Cap is on point 🥳🥳
Glad you decided to get one, really enjoyed the unboxing.
Haven't started building mine yet, have no idea what colour to go with
@rckicks It would be nice if you could perhaps do a build and highlight the differences between the ProCat and XLS?
So pleased you changed your mind and decided to get one on the channel! Mines on its way!
I can’t wait to build mine, it’s gonna be air brushed to represent my GTI CS golf then it’s getting raced!!!! 😍
Good to see you joined the ProCat club ;) it’s a lovely buggy that body does really grow on you especially once painted up. I’m really liking mine now it’s finished. Enjoy :)

LOL you said "D bag" ....
Mmmm, noice! I had a couple of these that I raced in the distant past. Excellent excellent buggies, and the Cougar too.
Very cool looking kit. I do like the XLS more in terms of looks.
I used to really like schu stuff. Had a fair few 10th elec and ic. I knew a schu team racer and he opened his own shop in Kent so was there a lot, no discounts though!
Looks like an epic little buggy! I love that pro cat body! 🔥🔥🔥🤩
Very nice! I also got my Procat some days ago and can't wait to build it! But the Mi8 was more important at the moment! 😅 Schumachers will always be nice and fast!
Great kit, I already have mine.
Definitely would like to see a full detailed build! Awesome unboxing.........I hope that I don't miss the boat on this one!
I think you have a while on these.
Love it. I like the box art paint

Even though you said you wasn't going to get one I knew you was. I didn't think I was going to get one but I did. Haha.

It would be great if you could have a dedicated video on how to paint it boxart for all of us who are having a hard time with painting 👍
I can add more detail on the body painting, sure.
Pro Cat looks awesome Gavin!
You know your go carbon chassis no point fighting it Gavin 😜
Ehehehe
So there definitely doing it in a certain order, guess I'm 2-3 years away from a cat 2000ec then 😿
Sounds about right
I managed to get mine back in the box quite neatly - albeit without the manual or the body lol
Hehehe

I’m not 100% but you might be able to fit the xLS lower chassis plate on the pro cat and swap the body over to an XLS

which tarmac tires would you use on the procat?
Never used them but take a look at Schumacher VENOM 88 Road Tyres - 2.2 Buggy Fitment

Hi Gavin, always enjoy your videos. Would you recommend a Kyosho Optima Mid or a Schumacher ProCat? Thanks in advance. Greetings Tino

@@RCKickschannel Thanks a lot for the detailed reply. I highly appreciated it.

Don’t forget, Cecil’s 10 yo daughter found building driveshafts easy! 😉

It sucks the transmission upgrade makes this a $570usd rc car. I'll pick one up sometime lol

Lol nice to see you go for modern car racing but for sure you do sound like a noob 😂 but we all were at some point 🤷🏻
Yep, we can’t all be experts at everything
