I noticed the contour that he had cut on the legs. I thought that it was just look pretty. Then, upon install, I see he actually matched the existing baseboard trim! And did an awesome job to boot! And the glove tricks! Awesome!!!
So many things to like in this build and a great tribute to JD! I especially like the rounded ends on the dovetails and pins, the stain / oil to make the grain pop and most of all how well you scribed in that magnificent skirting board. Thanks. cheers, David
Very nicely done. I really enjoyed the varying methods for the dove tail cut outs. Learn something new everyday so thanks for that! Also great editing. New subscriber from me - looking forward to the next one.
Jimmy, well done, beautiful job. The bulging dovetail ends are a special touch. Turning a messy corner into a more ordered messy corner is very clever. Well done.
Did Jimmy just say wow about something I built?? Well, that's 1 for me, about 300 for him! ;-) Thanks Jimmy! If you hadn't made your dovetail bench, I honestly would never have thought to build this! And thanks for being such a positive force for the TH-cam maker community!
That and more details in the voiceover version for my patrons! ;-) Sanding the danish oil in mixes sawdust into the oil and fills the pores. This being white oak which is very porous, the end result is a smoother finish. Thanks for watching.
I really like the bench build. And thank you for the tip about putting the brush inside your glove to stop it drying while you wait for the next coat!!! I'm a bit annoyed with myself, I mean how blooming obvious, it will stop me having to find plastic bags from now on!!
I loved the jimmy diresta dovetail bench video ive watched it atleast 10 times or more. Then i saw your bench inspired by jimmy's dovetail bench. Dont tell jimmy but i love this design way better. The out jogged dovetail joints really add to the design. Just beautiful!
I have to say that is thee most beautiful bench I have ever scene. Can you imagine as a kid getting to see that everyday. Only to know 2 decades later how cool and great of a craftsman my dad is? I have been watching your vids for the last two days. Job well done. I don't know if I mentioned it but I did subscribe to your channel. Please keep posting away. I think I have to make a digital woodworking scrap book in OneNote. A Tab entitled Woodworking future projects. This is one of those entries. Will from Akron, Ohio
Nice work! I really like the tip of using your spent finishing glove to seal the brush and container until the next coat. I usually grab a ziploc bag, but will likely be doing this next time.
Brilliant! I LOVE the diresta inspired build and video style..both very well made. You showed mistakes and solutions, and a great touch of humour. Scribing with a pair of compasses/ dividers...why did i never think of that?? A thousand thanks for sharing this..i have learnt and been inspired : )
Very nice result. And don't worry we wont tell about the secret :) Thanks for sharing the small "mistake" and how to fix it. That is how we all learn. Again beautifull result
Been wanting to try one of these myself since I saw the Diresta video. Yours is awesome... just love white oak. Brilliant tip about using the glove to bag the brush! I personally would love to see sawmilling videos.
Nice job. I was just recommended this, so thought I'd take a look. I like the design and the end result... even the little mistakes that add character. Some good tips too. Thanks.
So stoked to find your video! I am setting up to build an entertainment center and am new to dovetails... and wanted to do larger scale/wider dovetails on the front corners to add some style to a big box. Really not any other videos out there showing making thick wide dovetails, let alone proud chamfered ones!! Fine work sir! Thanks again
If one didn't know the shims were in there to fill the gaps, you'd be hard pressed to find them...and people that do are much too nosey and should not be invited back! Great video John thumbs up.
better than jimmy's video, you show different ways to carve the wood. That's what i lookin' for today, to make a Job. Thank you! Do more videos like that, Cheers
Rustic yet so very elegant, you're going to be happy every time you walk past it.
Thank you for this awesome video! I love seeing folks step away from the need for all dovetails to look the same and show mistakes!
well today first time i saw someone almost as good and patient like jimmy and it is wonderfull.
keep up.
cheers mate
The mushroom on the Dovetails really make that bench special. Excellent!
I noticed the contour that he had cut on the legs. I thought that it was just look pretty. Then, upon install, I see he actually matched the existing baseboard trim! And did an awesome job to boot! And the glove tricks! Awesome!!!

Beautiful bench. Beautiful job of making it. And thank you, thank you! THANK YOU!!! for not spoiling it with a music bed! (Love the karate chops!)
Very nicely done. I really enjoyed the varying methods for the dove tail cut outs. Learn something new everyday so thanks for that! Also great editing. New subscriber from me - looking forward to the next one.
Love the way you left the dovetails proud and shaped them smooth.

Jon, this is excellent. The rounded ( mushroom) ends on the dovetails are gorgeous.
I like how you highlight small tricks in your videos. I learned quite a few new things from this one. Thank you!
i am still trying to master his karate chop, so far i have broken my hand 16 times and havent managed to get a clean cut, can someone help me?
I don't have your resources, but that's not gonna stop me from trying something like this. Thx again.
I tried that Karate chop myself - and it was so much easier than using the table saw - great tip. The overall finished product was A+ .
Great job, I like the sneaky fill ins on the dovetails!!!
Always liked pillowed dovetail look. Inspiring work.
Jimmy, well done, beautiful job. The bulging dovetail ends are a special touch. Turning a messy corner into a more ordered messy corner is very clever. Well done.

That and more details in the voiceover version for my patrons! ;-) Sanding the danish oil in mixes sawdust into the oil and fills the pores. This being white oak which is very porous, the end result is a smoother finish. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful wood, stunning craftsmanship! Your ascribing and fitting will serve as an example for my apprentice! Thank you.

Make Build Modify Right!?
I've no idea why, but for some reason it reminds me of the kind of furniture that would be in the house of Winnie the Pooh.
