If it bothers you that much use the action replay code to control your party in FES
Even if I started with Persona 5 (and then Royal), I still had a blast playing Persona 4 Golden on PC. While the dungeon design is weak (especially compared to Persona 5's dungeon design), the characters, the story and the music are amazing!

I've been a fan of the Persona series since 3 and it was a fun ride, it's awesome to see new people enjoying the series throughout the years. I'd love to suggest the mainline SMT games and other spinoffs since you already have the basics from Persona, they're totally different beasts that focus on symbolism and choice in their narrative.
P4G is finally on Steam!! I'm so happy I can finally get into this franchise, I've just been waiting and praying for a P5/P5R port to the Switch since I don't have any other consoles.

I bought P4G on PC, and i've been playing through it, i like it more than base P5. P5R though, is better than both games, imo. P5R's just so beautiful to me. It improved my favorite game of all time, and the third semester is just legendary. Something's been on my mind though. People used to shit on P4, but now it's like a legendary game on the leagues of P3, (I really don't like P3. People suck on it's balls too much, it has serious issues. P4 and P5 are WAY better than P3.) I think this is because people have time to look back on P4 and realize it's beauty, and it's strong points. *Some* people also shit on P5 for no good reason, like "it's just kids who wanna gET bAcc at sOCIety, it's So fUccin laMe". I think, down the line, people will look at what this game REALLY did. For example, SPOILERS BY THE WAY When I was going though Mementos Depths, I thought about something, I thought that all of our main characters' Shadows were down there at one point. They were all apart of the masses, which all accept how things go, but, when they get their Personas they break free from Mementos Depths and have their own mindset. Makoto was a puppet of sorts, Haru couldn't do anything about her arranged marriage, Ann was the one that got me thinking, as she says to someone in the Depths that she had the same mentality as them (To just sit there and take everything shes hit with, because it's going to be easier). I also think that everyone that has a palace are just extremely distorted and are more powerful than those stuck in Mementos. Since the people stuck there can't do anything that's why the distorted people rule over them easily, like Shido, Kamoshida, Kaneshiro, y'know. I have no clue about Futaba though, she's special I guess. Hell, Sumire's being crapped on all the time because she's good at gymnastics and she gets *h o n o r* status. She even says in both awakenings she's gonna rise up. In the last awakening she says "I'm no longer the weak Sumire Yoshizawa". (Oh yeah, Sumire and Kasumi's kinda like Luigi and Mario, but Mario dies saving Luigi from some rando Hammer Bro or something.) This entire thing changed my standpoint on the entire game.

You can obtain a second ultimate form for your party members. You can obtain costumes through various activities. The audio ducking works better when coming through a vita speaker. You can go to the coffee shop to essentially take certain abilities from your persona so you can do things like giving Izanagi Salvation and maziodyne for example.
I started with Persona 3. Also head some spin off games and an anime Series was made out of it. To me Persona 3 has the best story of all of them (maybe because it was my first Persona game) but I also love ther Series as a whole. It is one of those games you play because of the story and maybe also if you are into Japanese (pop) culture.
the P4 cast feel like actual friends whereas the P3 and P5 casts feel more like friendly colleagues. P3 they are on a team working to defeat shadows and don't actually genuinely bond till the end of the game. P5 is basically the same. The whole game needed so much more of what Royal added to P5, scenes like Joker and the boys out at a food festival thing. Just teens being teens without Ryuji shrieking "WE'RE THE PHANTOM THEIVES!!!!!!" every 2 seconds. Almost all of P5 plot was Phantom Thieves. There was no downtime
Admittedly, Strikers does more of what Royal did for P5 in the character bondings and executes the thematic story of P5 more effectively by not having to worry on constantly introducing new party members with each du dungeon nor suffer from MakotoFutabadoeseverything Syndrome of P5’s story where characters like Ann, Yusuke and Haru are overshadowed plotwise by Makoto and Futaba. Kamoshida Arc versus the rest of Vanilla 5’s Arcs feels weird when compared to them because of how Ryuji and Ann are depicted there compared to how they’re portrayed onwards outside of their Confidants along with the execution of the ruler’s sin and the ruler in question. Kamoshida Arc Ryuji acts more like a well-meaning dude but his emotions can make him act brash before rational thinking while Kamoshida Arc Ann seems similar to her later depictions but there seems to be more of a pronounced underlying sadness to her being so different from the other students. It’s as if the whole first palace was from a much darker and more developed draft where the ruler’s actions in the real world are depicted in a manner you’d find in a R-Rated movie or a script that’s less leaning on the anime tropes pre-Sega buyout and everything else was done up with the anime tropes after the buyout.
@@rayvenkman2087 the Kamoshida arc is the strongest in the game in vanilla because each party member has personal stakes in what they are doing. Morgana's is the weakest, only wanting the treasure, but Ann wants revenge for Shiho (and herself), Ryuji wants revenge/justice for himself and the track team, and Joker to not get kicked out and thus wind up in jail also didn't help Haru by giving her a terrible case of last/late character syndrome. Why is it that in vanilla P5 Haru doesn't spawn into the game until the Hawaii trip? Why would they not have worked her in earlier. It's so easy to do. The original hideout was on the roof and Haru grows veggies on the roof. Have her find them up there and tell Makoto, Makoto confronts them, they relocate. Start her confidant earlier or at least access her garden earlier so the veggies have better use. By the time the games puts them in you should have coffee and curry so the veggies aren't that helpful. Make them more than sp items. By having her in earlier they can comment on her at the fireworks since her inclusion in the scene is pointless since it's never brought up or discussed. Let the team bring her in to get through her fathers palace and she agrees but has a weak persona since she isn't honest about why she's rebelling. They train in Mementos and are like princess stay in the back you're weak we'll protect you. Morgana goes to take her home but they run into the fiance, the team comes to help. Haru tells them she is going against her father because she doesn't want to get married to that man. Go into the palace, her awakening happens as it does in game. That will allow the stupid Ryuji Morgana drama to be cut and Haru gets to be a better character. Royal added her in the scene when dealing with trash in the park which would have been good if she interacted with Joker, Ryuji, or Ann. Her interacting with Mishima is pointless. I'll never not be mad about how dirty they did Haru
TLDR: IMO, the members of S.E.E.S and the Phantom Thieves wouldn't be friends were it not for the events of the story and the MC, but I think the Investigation Team would have still been friends regardless (minus a few outliers) Without further adieu, I present my TED Talk. I am sorry. In P3 it kind of makes sense for the members to have a colleague relationship, because that's essentially what they were, at least in my outsider perspective (I haven't played 3 yet, so take my words with a bucket of salt). They had a job to do, and there wasn't really a need to become friends beyond a surface level as long as they got that job done. Makoto/Kotone, on the other hand grew in power as they gained stronger bonds, thanks to the power of the Wild Card. So I imagine that their joining of S.E.E.S would have been the catalyst for the other members to actually start caring about each other on a deeper level. Had they not joined, the other members probably would have remained as is until The Fall. As for the Phantom Thieves it seems like a similar situation. These are people who likely would never have even spoken to one another, let alone become friends, were it not for their goal of changing hearts. Once again, Joker would be the catalyst, thanks to the Wild Card powers basically necessitating that he forges strong bonds. In P4, everyone is just a group of small town high school students at the end of the day. Compared to stopping the embodiment of death, or starting a rebellion against society itself, their small town murder case would be pretty minor. They're just the Scooby Gang comparatively. Which is exactly why it's so believable that they would actually be friends outside of their mission as the Investigation Team, sans a the outliers outliers (Teddie, Naoto, Rise, and maybe Kanji for various reasons). At the very least, the other four members would still be friends on some level. Maybe not as close, but still friends. They see each other every day, and most of them already have pre established relationships with one another. Once again, I'm sorry for going on a tangent. I just felt like adding my two cents to the conversation.
Persona 5 and especially royal are my favorite persona games and favorite rpgs of all time. But I still love persona 4 golden. I platinumed it and I’ve beaten it over 20 times😂
@@JhonnyStone100 I prefer 5/5R aswell, but there are some things that 4/4G does better, the school trips, atmosphere and team dynamic for example. Overall I do think that 5/5R is better though, better gameplay and story.

@@moonum4567 Oh, I haven't played 4 yet but it seems to be a very common opinion that 5 is nothing compared to 4. Like, I absolutely love 5 and all of the characters. It made me do a cry multiple times, so I'm hoping I can look past the PS2 era graphics and enjoy 4 even more so.

Golden was my first Persona game all the way back in 2012, 2013? Honestly because i was like 7...? Honestly i was too dumb then, and i couldnt for the love of God pass Naoto’s dungeon, i got stuck on Floor 6 lololol. I gave up, came back, gave up again, basically Chie w/ studying. But then when i finally finished the game(i got the mf bad ending), i actually pushed Namatame into the tv cause i was just so mad that he did that to Nanako and the entire credits, i cried. I bought Royal this year, because when i was BEGGING my brothers to get P5 for me they didn’t, they were like talking about my grades, if i get good grades i’d get it AND EVEN WHEN I DID THEY DIDNT SKSK, but then Royal was announced and we wrre waiting for that and when i got it, i really didnt want to fight Maruki but i did. And lemme just say, i did get a lot of tears but P4G made me cry more. I’ve gotten more used to it because i’ve played through it SO MANY TIMES but i still cry a little bit shhhhh. Persona 4 Golden gave me my friends, gave me the courage to try and talk to people and Persona 5 Royal gave me the courage to do what i want.
I'm really thankful Persona 3 was my first Persona game because I don't think I would have enjoyed Persona 4 if I had started with Persona 5. Also, they were right, Persona 4 will never die.

Ah after playing both persona 5 and persona 5 royal, it is quite difficult for me to dive into persona 4 golden despite trying a few weeks of gameplay.

Hallelujah that P4G was released for PC recently. What a fantastic game; just finished it the other day as a newcomer to the series. Amazing music, AWESOME characters, great story, and a really well-done soundtrack. I really enjoyed the 80 hours or so that I put into my first playthrough and I plan to go through NG+ to try and 100% it, though I haven't 100%ed a game since Dark Souls 1 and who knows if my patience will wear thin. At least I don't have to beat it on the highest difficulty without taking damage or other silly things like that, or grind endless fetch quests. A couple hiccups along the way; the game certainly wasn't perfect - why are Teddy and Yosuke both so unlikeable and creepy?? I get that small town teenage boys can be A Little Much, but those guys had no chill and I didn't have any reason to give a single shit about either of them. At least Kanji was a breath of fresh air and his arc was great - bi men in video games who aren't depraved perverts? Love it! Naoto could probably have been handled better, but I won't get into it. Some scenes were, uh, fucking cringey considering the characters were 15-16 and that beauty/drag contest in particular could have easily been dropped altogether. I do wish relationships had more effect on the story besides a few extra scenes (albeit really great scenes!), but I understand the limitations of file size for old games like this. I started dating Chie in like August I think and seeing just how little relationships seemed to affect everything seemed like a missed opportunity. I just think Chie would have gotten into a fight with Rise for coming on so strong so often and all, or at least said something. Anyways great game 9/10 for sure, not a perfect game (like idk Dwarf Fortress or LISA the Painful or FF9 or Myst) but a Damn good one for sure
Honestly, while Persona 5 is, undoubtedly, the better game in terms of gameplay and polish when compared to 4 (In the same way 4 was a step up from 3 in that same regard), I think the fifth game stumbles with the characters, and I was kind of disappointed Royal did nothing to fix it. There were some good characters or at least ones that I personally liked, such as Yusuke, Takemi, Sojiro, but there were huge problems, most of which were stemming from the main cast. Ryuji was just this comically dumb moron to an exaggerated degree, Futaba's an utterly insuferable "lol, so quirky" introvert with "l33t tech skills" (at least in the main plot; Her social link fares slightly better), Haru and Akechi both had too little screen time for me to enjoy them, and God... Like, Strega in Persona 3 were fairly weak antagonists. Not awful, but not overly interesting. But 5's villains, except for Kamoshida, blow them out of the water in comical absurdity. Like, these guys are just far too comic book-level evil to be credible threats, especially considering the main villain is generic evil politician number 456, type B: Conspiracy leader. Not to mention Royal's main villain, who I see get so much praise, but he's just a dull "I'll save the world, but actually what I'm doing is overall a bad thing, but I have fake moral complexity" villain. Again, with the exception of Kamoshida, none of the antagonists compare to The Killer from 4 (one of my personal favourite video game antagonists, especially after Ultimax.) What I'm trying to say, is I feel the characters of 5 are a huge let-down and for me, characters are at least half the reason I play a Persona game. Hopefully, a theoretical Persona 6 takes the quality of characters and plot from 3 and 4, and combines it with 5's sublime deungeon crawling gameplay.
You just said some dumb shit, so it'll have to be called. You sort of have a point about the villain comic book evil, but that only applies to their shadows, which are exaggerated forms of them. Did you not see the actions the villains committed, did you think about what could happen if you don't change their heart, in fact the game shows what happens if you fail do so and all of it is fucked up. Especially Kaneshiro's. But they're just comic book evil. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what definition of comic book evil you're using. Not liking them is fine, but what isn't fine is not liking them for faulty reasons. Now on Maruki. I'm not sure how he's bland, he's not evil like the other antagonist, he just has an opposing view. So when it comes to changing his heart, it's emotional moment, because he is genuinely a good person. It's just matter of what you think is right and wrong. No other Persona antagonist has made me question if I was making the right decision
The thing about the Ghost Stories Dub is that it's less of a Dub and more of an abridged. The Original didn't do so well in Japan, so the studio in effect just handed it of for localization with a note that said ''we don't care about this do what you want''.

I've been a fan of the Persona series since 3 and it was a fun ride, it's awesome to see new people enjoying the series throughout the years. I'd love to suggest the mainline SMT games and other spinoffs since you already have the basics from Persona, they're totally different beasts that focus on symbolism and choice in their narrative.

mm, base P5 has issues that i didn't notice. The translation's off, "Kamoshida was a scum". and alot of other stuff. I bought P4G on PC, and i've been playing through it, i like it more than base P5. P5R though, is better than both games, imo. P5R's just so beautiful to me. It improved my favorite game of all time, and the third semester is just legendary.
Something's been on my mind though. People used to shit on P4, but now it's like a legendary game on the leagues of P3, (I really don't like P3. People suck on it's balls too much, it has serious issues. P4 and P5 are WAY better than P3.) I think this is because people have time to look back on P4 and realize it's beauty, and it's strong points. *Some* people also shit on P5 for no good reason, like "it's just kids who wanna gET bAcc at sOCIety, it's So fUccin laMe". I think, down the line, people will look at what this game REALLY did.
For example, SPOILERS BY THE WAY
When I was going though Mementos Depths, I thought about something, I thought that all of our main characters' Shadows were down there at one point. They were all apart of the masses, which all accept how things go, but, when they get their Personas they break free from Mementos Depths and have their own mindset.
Makoto was a puppet of sorts, Haru couldn't do anything about her arranged marriage, Ann was the one that got me thinking, as she says to someone in the Depths that she had the same mentality as them (To just sit there and take everything shes hit with, because it's going to be easier). I also think that everyone that has a palace are just extremely distorted and are more powerful than those stuck in Mementos. Since the people stuck there can't do anything that's why the distorted people rule over them easily, like Shido, Kamoshida, Kaneshiro, y'know. I have no clue about Futaba though, she's special I guess. Hell, Sumire's being crapped on all the time because she's good at gymnastics and she gets *h o n o r* status. She even says in both awakenings she's gonna rise up. In the last awakening she says "I'm no longer the weak Sumire Yoshizawa". (Oh yeah, Sumire and Kasumi's kinda like Luigi and Mario, but Mario dies saving Luigi from some rando Hammer Bro or something.)
This entire thing changed my standpoint on the entire game.

To me Persona 3 has the best story of all of them (maybe because it was my first Persona game) but I also love ther Series as a whole.

the P4 cast feel like actual friends whereas the P3 and P5 casts feel more like friendly colleagues. P3 they are on a team working to defeat shadows and don't actually genuinely bond till the end of the game. P5 is basically the same. The whole game needed so much more of what Royal added to P5, scenes like Joker and the boys out at a food festival thing. Just teens being teens without Ryuji shrieking "WE'RE THE PHANTOM THEIVES!!!!!!" every 2 seconds. Almost all of P5 plot was Phantom Thieves. There was no downtime
Admittedly, Strikers does more of what Royal did for P5 in the character bondings and executes the thematic story of P5 more effectively by not having to worry on constantly introducing new party members with each du dungeon nor suffer from MakotoFutabadoeseverything Syndrome of P5’s story where characters like Ann, Yusuke and Haru are overshadowed plotwise by Makoto and Futaba.
Kamoshida Arc versus the rest of Vanilla 5’s Arcs feels weird when compared to them because of how Ryuji and Ann are depicted there compared to how they’re portrayed onwards outside of their Confidants along with the execution of the ruler’s sin and the ruler in question.
Kamoshida Arc Ryuji acts more like a well-meaning dude but his emotions can make him act brash before rational thinking while Kamoshida Arc Ann seems similar to her later depictions but there seems to be more of a pronounced underlying sadness to her being so different from the other students.
It’s as if the whole first palace was from a much darker and more developed draft where the ruler’s actions in the real world are depicted in a manner you’d find in a R-Rated movie or a script that’s less leaning on the anime tropes pre-Sega buyout and everything else was done up with the anime tropes after the buyout.
@@rayvenkman2087 the Kamoshida arc is the strongest in the game in vanilla because each party member has personal stakes in what they are doing. Morgana's is the weakest, only wanting the treasure, but Ann wants revenge for Shiho (and herself), Ryuji wants revenge/justice for himself and the track team, and Joker to not get kicked out and thus wind up in jail
also didn't help Haru by giving her a terrible case of last/late character syndrome. Why is it that in vanilla P5 Haru doesn't spawn into the game until the Hawaii trip? Why would they not have worked her in earlier. It's so easy to do. The original hideout was on the roof and Haru grows veggies on the roof. Have her find them up there and tell Makoto, Makoto confronts them, they relocate. Start her confidant earlier or at least access her garden earlier so the veggies have better use. By the time the games puts them in you should have coffee and curry so the veggies aren't that helpful. Make them more than sp items. By having her in earlier they can comment on her at the fireworks since her inclusion in the scene is pointless since it's never brought up or discussed. Let the team bring her in to get through her fathers palace and she agrees but has a weak persona since she isn't honest about why she's rebelling. They train in Mementos and are like princess stay in the back you're weak we'll protect you. Morgana goes to take her home but they run into the fiance, the team comes to help. Haru tells them she is going against her father because she doesn't want to get married to that man. Go into the palace, her awakening happens as it does in game. That will allow the stupid Ryuji Morgana drama to be cut and Haru gets to be a better character. Royal added her in the scene when dealing with trash in the park which would have been good if she interacted with Joker, Ryuji, or Ann. Her interacting with Mishima is pointless. I'll never not be mad about how dirty they did Haru
@@LuminousArc92 Haru should have been introduced in the Kaneshiro Arc. Maybe even join the party there over Makoto or alongside her.
TLDR: IMO, the members of S.E.E.S and the Phantom Thieves wouldn't be friends were it not for the events of the story and the MC, but I think the Investigation Team would have still been friends regardless (minus a few outliers)
Without further adieu, I present my TED Talk. I am sorry.
In P3 it kind of makes sense for the members to have a colleague relationship, because that's essentially what they were, at least in my outsider perspective (I haven't played 3 yet, so take my words with a bucket of salt). They had a job to do, and there wasn't really a need to become friends beyond a surface level as long as they got that job done.
Makoto/Kotone, on the other hand grew in power as they gained stronger bonds, thanks to the power of the Wild Card. So I imagine that their joining of S.E.E.S would have been the catalyst for the other members to actually start caring about each other on a deeper level. Had they not joined, the other members probably would have remained as is until The Fall.
As for the Phantom Thieves it seems like a similar situation. These are people who likely would never have even spoken to one another, let alone become friends, were it not for their goal of changing hearts. Once again, Joker would be the catalyst, thanks to the Wild Card powers basically necessitating that he forges strong bonds.
In P4, everyone is just a group of small town high school students at the end of the day. Compared to stopping the embodiment of death, or starting a rebellion against society itself, their small town murder case would be pretty minor. They're just the Scooby Gang comparatively. Which is exactly why it's so believable that they would actually be friends outside of their mission as the Investigation Team, sans a the outliers outliers (Teddie, Naoto, Rise, and maybe Kanji for various reasons). At the very least, the other four members would still be friends on some level. Maybe not as close, but still friends. They see each other every day, and most of them already have pre established relationships with one another.
Once again, I'm sorry for going on a tangent. I just felt like adding my two cents to the conversation.

Golden was my first Persona game all the way back in 2012, 2013? Honestly because i was like 7...? Honestly i was too dumb then, and i couldnt for the love of God pass Naoto’s dungeon, i got stuck on Floor 6 lololol. I gave up, came back, gave up again, basically Chie w/ studying. But then when i finally finished the game(i got the mf bad ending), i actually pushed Namatame into the tv cause i was just so mad that he did that to Nanako and the entire credits, i cried. I bought Royal this year, because when i was BEGGING my brothers to get P5 for me they didn’t, they were like talking about my grades, if i get good grades i’d get it AND EVEN WHEN I DID THEY DIDNT SKSK, but then Royal was announced and we wrre waiting for that and when i got it, i really didnt want to fight Maruki but i did. And lemme just say, i did get a lot of tears but P4G made me cry more. I’ve gotten more used to it because i’ve played through it SO MANY TIMES but i still cry a little bit shhhhh. Persona 4 Golden gave me my friends, gave me the courage to try and talk to people and Persona 5 Royal gave me the courage to do what i want.

Ah after playing both persona 5 and persona 5 royal, it is quite difficult for me to dive into persona 4 golden despite trying a few weeks of gameplay.
use a guide for the calendar if you must. And yes, it happens. If you can, I recommend giving P3FES a try, it has a darker tone and story/pacing is better.

Hallelujah that P4G was released for PC recently. What a fantastic game; just finished it the other day as a newcomer to the series. Amazing music, AWESOME characters, great story, and a really well-done soundtrack. I really enjoyed the 80 hours or so that I put into my first playthrough and I plan to go through NG+ to try and 100% it, though I haven't 100%ed a game since Dark Souls 1 and who knows if my patience will wear thin. At least I don't have to beat it on the highest difficulty without taking damage or other silly things like that, or grind endless fetch quests.
A couple hiccups along the way; the game certainly wasn't perfect - why are Teddy and Yosuke both so unlikeable and creepy?? I get that small town teenage boys can be A Little Much, but those guys had no chill and I didn't have any reason to give a single shit about either of them. At least Kanji was a breath of fresh air and his arc was great - bi men in video games who aren't depraved perverts? Love it! Naoto could probably have been handled better, but I won't get into it. Some scenes were, uh, fucking cringey considering the characters were 15-16 and that beauty/drag contest in particular could have easily been dropped altogether. I do wish relationships had more effect on the story besides a few extra scenes (albeit really great scenes!), but I understand the limitations of file size for old games like this. I started dating Chie in like August I think and seeing just how little relationships seemed to affect everything seemed like a missed opportunity. Anyways great game 9/10 for sure, not a perfect game (like idk Dwarf Fortress or LISA the Painful or FF9 or Myst) but a Damn good one for sure

I quite liked Yosuke, Teddy not so much.
Honestly, while Persona 5 is, undoubtedly, the better game in terms of gameplay and polish when compared to 4 (In the same way 4 was a step up from 3 in that same regard), I think the fifth game stumbles with the characters, and I was kind of disappointed Royal did nothing to fix it. There were some good characters or at least ones that I personally liked, such as Yusuke, Takemi, Sojiro, but there were huge problems, most of which were stemming from the main cast. Ryuji was just this comically dumb moron to an exaggerated degree, Futaba's an utterly insuferable "lol, so quirky" introvert with "l33t tech skills" (at least in the main plot; Her social link fares slightly better), Haru and Akechi both had too little screen time for me to enjoy them, and God...
Like, Strega in Persona 3 were fairly weak antagonists. Not awful, but not overly interesting. But 5's villains, except for Kamoshida, blow them out of the water in comical absurdity. Like, these guys are just far too comic book-level evil to be credible threats, especially considering the main villain is generic evil politician number 456, type B: Conspiracy leader. Not to mention Royal's main villain, who I see get so much praise, but he's just a dull "I'll save the world, but actually what I'm doing is overall a bad thing, but I have fake moral complexity" villain. Again, with the exception of Kamoshida, none of the antagonists compare to The Killer from 4 (one of my personal favourite video game antagonists, especially after Ultimax.)
What I'm trying to say, is I feel the characters of 5 are a huge let-down and for me, characters are at least half the reason I play a Persona game. Hopefully, a theoretical Persona 6 takes the quality of characters and plot from 3 and 4, and combines it with 5's sublime deungeon crawling gameplay.
You just said some dumb shit, so it'll have to be called. You sort of have a point about the villain comic book evil, but that only applies to their shadows, which are exaggerated forms of them. Did you not see the actions the villains committed, did you think about what could happen if you don't change their heart, in fact the game shows what happens if you fail do so and all of it is fucked up. Especially Kaneshiro's. But they're just comic book evil. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what definition of comic book evil you're using. Not liking them is fine, but what isn't fine is not liking them for faulty reasons.
Now on Maruki. I'm not sure how he's bland, he's not evil like the other antagonist, he just has an opposing view. So when it comes to changing his heart, it's emotional moment, because he is genuinely a good person. It's just matter of what you think is right and wrong. No other Persona antagonist has made me question if I was making the right decision
