I disagree. His Aeterni Patris has suffocated the Church and laid the way for anti-religious secular populizers such as Christopher Hitchens. This retrograde handicap has done Christianity untold harm and damage over the past century, visibly so. The greatness of the Church lay with its rich history of theological development and Leo stopped that development.
Karl Marx paved the way for Christopher Hitchens not Leo XIII, so called development of doctrine is the worse thing to happen Christianity, no one takes the Church of Sweden or the Church of England because of it, Bergoglio and the Spirit of Vatican II is leading Catholicism the same way.

John the Baptist would tell the Christain hating Muslims to renounce there false religion, and that there is no salvation except through the blood of Jesus Christ, but the Muslims renounce that Jesus even died for them, or that he is God. How can a "Catholic Pope" ask a saint in heaven to protect a religion that dams people and denies God? The Bible says that other religions are headed by demons, and that false religions worship these demons. Apparently John Paul II believed that demons can save you and send you to heaven, well he has certainly found out thats not the case now.
