Hey thank you for the condolences. Yes at least he is not in pain yet and he was a Christian so I'm certain his with Jesus and his parents up there. Thank you again and take care!
Sorry for your loss, Steve. I am very moved by your dad's story. You are strong for being able to share that with us without breaking down in front of the camera. I, however, had to sit back and take a deep breath after watching this. In retrospect, it was wonderful of you to get him the mobility vehicle that enabled him to see the world outside again before his passing. I love that montage of your dad at the end of the video. It was a nice tribute. Take care and God bless.
Hey Summer, thank you for watching the video and your very kind words!! I broke down in between but edited them out😅 Our family just received his ashes on that day so I was really sad that day.. Yeah I'm so glad that I got that car for him. My mum took him out for a drive almost everyday. Sometimes to the seafront and sometimes just driving to random places then coming back. I was never really very close to dad and we grew even more distant when I was married then went through divorce.. it's so sad that I never really got to know him as a person instead of just being my dad. Lots of regrets :( Thank you again for leaving such a kind and warm comment and I hope you'll stay safe if you live in Singapore with the virus spreading lately. Take care!🥰
@@ReddotDiaries Hi Steve, don't be too hard on yourself. If your dad's condition was anything like ALS, his brain was still very alert even though his body was weak. I'm sure he appreciated the things you did for him although he could not vocalize it. One thing you can do for your dad to to take care of your mom. From watching the car episode, she seems like a very supportive wife and loving mom. I admire her strength. But it's great to have your support at this fragile moment so it's great that you're moving back to NZ. I do believe that time is the best medicine. In the meantime, take good care of yourselves.
@@summerc.5369 Hey thank you so so much for what you said. I actually really appreciate it and it meant a lot to me. Yes, I think now I need to take of my mum.. it's been tough times for her as well and last thing I would want is for her to go through illness. Thank you and take care!
Hey Steven! how are you? Thank you so much for your condolences and kind words of comfort.. and I'm so sorry to hear about losing your mom... it must have been very difficult for you to have her go through a difficult illness like that.. but like many people have said on this page, let's believe that they're in a better place and make the most of rest of our lives! Take care and thank you so much!
I found this video after watching your upload on about your last day at work. Mate, keep your chin up, life indeed is short and thanks for inspiring me to think differently too. Best regards from Korea!
Hey Charles! Thank you!! I'm doing much better now.. sometimes I feel guilty for living on as if nothing happened but I think dad would rather see me happy and motivated to move on. Must be spring in Korea now right? Man I miss going there and eating home cooked food at my grandma's place. Take care buddy!
Hey thank you for the condolences. Yes that was just about two months ago and things just got worse very fast.. thank you again and if you stay in Singapore, I hope you'll stay safe in phase 2 with the local cases going up lately. Thanks again!
Hey Steve. I just got onto your channel and watched your videos about living as a Singaporean for 12yrs, giving your best in appreciating the last weeks in Singapore before heading back to Nuzzan for good. I was really touched by your honest, no frills yet warm "dialogues" about your life in the present and in retrospect. Though it was few months back, but I just want to express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family for the loss of your dad. I was really moved by the video where you got your dad the mobility car. And your mom was so delighted that she just drove off with your dad on that long awaited drive out of the house to see the world, which he loved so much. The montage you created in memory of your beloved dad was most touching. I still miss my dad who passed on 5 years ago. Sadly I don't have many shared memories and photos of him. Knowing that he loved life and lived his best (though with regrets too), taught me how precious is life and people. I hope you are taking time to rest, seek, reset and just enjoying time with your mom. We can't dictate the length of our time. But we can make it count for those around us - add a smile and spark in theirs. It's ironically beautiful how our regret also helps us grow and shine brighter for God, for those around us and ourselves. I really hope you're settling in and coping along well. Hope to see you on your next video. Take care.
Hey Christina, just wanted to thank you for your comment. I read it a few times and agree with everything you said. I'm sorry to hear about your dad and can only hope that you're doing better over time... I guess for me I learnt the pain of regret through my dad's illness and death. Especially all the little things that I didn't do like calling him, thanking him, taking videos of him... all of which were so easy to do but I was just being lazy and telling myself "next time". Well I guess there does come a day when there is no "next time" and that's it. You can cry, regret but nothing will change. So for me having this realisation made me look at what I'm missing out now for taking things for granted and being lazy again...which is part of the reason why i also decided to leave my job and come back to NZ. "It's ironically beautiful how our regret also helps us grow and shine brighter for God, for those around us and ourselves." This is so well said and true and I'm going to remember what you said. Thank you for taking the time to share that with me... Take care and see you in my next video:)
Sorry for your loss, Dr Steve. My heartfelt condolences to u and your family. Your dad is in a better place now and he will always be with u deep in your heart. Take care.
Hi! Thank you so much for the condolences.. I really, really appreciate it and like you said I believe he's in a much better place without pain and suffering now. Take care during phase 2 and I think you're coming back next week right? See you then!😊
Hi Norman, thank you so so much for the condolences. I really appreciate it! If you are staying in Singapore, I hope you and your family will stay safe and strong! So many local cases these few days..
Hello Joyce thank you so much for the condolences. I really, really appreciate it. My mum is doing much better now and I think she takes a lot of comfort in knowing that I'll be there soon. Take care during phase 2 and thank you so much again.
My deepest condolences to you and your family Steve... My mum passed away 12 years ago with the same condition as your dad, i understand the pain and it's a blessing for them that they are now free of suffering as this illness had no medicine to cure and muscle deteriorating make them painful, just that they can't talk to us to let us know... i took 3 years to move forward with the loss but time will heal and i am sure your dad is in a better place now. Be strong and take care....
Hey, I'm sorry your mum went through the same condition.. I know it's really awful right..because they can think clearly in their mind but basically trapped in the body that won't work.. It reminded me of the movie Get Out actually.. When my dad had enough strength to use the mouse to type things out, I was so heartbroken because I could tell inside that body was still my dad that I remembered.. Thank you so much and I hope you'll stay safe and take good care also..☺️
Hey Sharon thank you for the condolences and warm words of comfort. My mum is doing much better but I'm sure we will both have our ups and downs.. take care during phase 2 in Singapore and thank you so much again.
Hey Daniel, thanks for the blessings and concern bro..! Mum and sis are doing much better now :) Hope you and your family will stay safe during this phase 2!! thanks again and take care!!
Hey thank you so much for the condolences and your kind words.. I'm not sure if you're in Singapore but if you are, I hope you'll stay safe during the upcoming phase 2. Thank you again and take care!
Thank you for sharing your father with us. My prayers are with you and your family. We learn valuable lessons during our darkest moments. And I have no doubt your father is going to enjoy watching this new chapter of yours in NZ. Telling everyone, "That's my boy" ❤❤❤
Hey thank you for the prayers.. and how have you been?!! How is your family? I hope it's getting a bit warmer there now :) Haha yes I'm actually looking forward to that part of going back to NZ to make him proud. How's the covid situation over there? I heard that many people are already vaccinated and won't have to wear a mask anymore.
@@ReddotDiaries things are moving right along. Going to be moving soon as well! Should be around June or July. Not a big move, just a few towns over. Kiddos are about to be done with this school year...they are excited for summer. We are in the awkward stage of needing a hoodie and jeans in the morning but a shirt and shorts in the afternoon. LOL I was finally able to get my first shot yesterday. A lot of people are vaccinated but active covid numbers are still up due to the ones who refuse to get vaccinated or wear a mask. I forsee me still wearing a mask when I'm out even after I'm fully vaccinated. I kinda like hiding part of my facial expressions. LOL
@@trellbell That's great to hear..! Sounds like things are getting back to normal over there. I miss having a change in season like that.. 😅Good luck with your move and hope your family will enjoy summer!!
Thank you so much. I still have ups and downs especially when I visit cemetery but I guess it's all part and parcel of life.. hope you're doing good and take care!
I understand how u felt because my dad had celebral degeneration, too. It was not common disease so my family and I had no one to reach out. I was afraid to find out more about the disease via internet but instead I kept moving forward in finding out what cure is out there? But my dad google and he knows exactly what he was about to go through. He was so brave and was so easy taking care of him. I know he was in pain but he never showed. Next month, he will be 9 years in heaven and not a single day goes by that I don’t missed him. Take care, too 💝
Hey Maria thank you for sharing your story... I think you are the first person I met whose family member had the exact same disease.. and you're right there was no cure for him.. For the first few years we also took him to many different doctors and tried to get his condition to slow down at least but it just slowly took his freedom away. I think for me the saddest part was the he was very much "alive" inside but couldn't express anything.. I can't imagine going through such experience myself and feel so bad that I wasn't there for him much of the time. Thank you and I hope you're taking good care of yourself too.. thank you again.
Yeah and I feel quite bad that I didn't do much for them. I guess now it's time to be more nice to mum (easier said than done haha) thank you and take care!
🕊 Our deepest condolences to you Steve & your Family in New Zealand ! May you find the strength to reconcile with your wife & loving family back together !
Hey thank you for the condolences. It was actually helpful to let it out and I was really overwhelmed with the support from everyone! Thank you so much😊
Hey thank you..! I just looked it up and it is very comforting to feel and know that he will direct my path.. thank you and stay safe during phase 2 in Singapore!
My deepest condolences to you during this period of grief. It must be so heartbreaking not being there to see your dad for the last time. I felt the same way too when my dad died in the hospital and I was no there when he passed away. I can feel your sorrow and pain. May the sweet memories of your dad help you in the closure. May God grant you peace and comfort you and may each passing moment ease the pain you feel within. Praying for you that you remain strong for your mum and her to cope with the loss of your dad.
Hey Mavis, thank you for the condolences and sharing your story. It really felt awful and guilty for not being there in his last moment of life but at least he was with mum and his friends.. and most importantly with Jesus. Thank you for your prayers and I hope you and your family will stay safe during phase 2 and take care...!
Hey thank you! Yeah even though that is very true I often forget about it and end up wasting a lot of time.. even today I've been super lazy and just laying on the floor the whole day :(
Hi Steve It’s a life cycle , birth , old, sick , die - as what you have shared , one day we will be sleeping in the little coffin as well . Hey Joanne, thank you for leaving a comment..! Yes that was one of the things I kept thinking about after my dad fell sick. He had so many plans to finally live his life after his retirement but in the end couldn't do any of it.. so for me I decided why wait? Thank you Mazuin. I really appreciate you saying that and hope you're doing better over time though... I think all we can do is to remember our dads and live a life they would be happy to see until we meet one day again.

Hey thank you so much for your warm words of comfort. Yes we always take things for granted until we realise we'll lose them.. take care during phase 2 in singapore and thank you again.
Hi Steve, don’t be too hard yourself, as I believe things happen for a reason. You have been a son that many parents would have been proud to have. Your Dad till his last days was still thinking of you and spared you the pain in seeing him go. I know from my own experience that my Mum passed and I was in a different city in Australia. You will get over your Dad’s passing and will cherish the wonderful memories of him. Take care and I will be keeping an eye out of how you are travelling via your upcoming videos.
Hey Richard, just want to let you know that I really appreciate your comment. Thank you. Losing our parents is something that everyone must go through yet I was so not prepared for it... I hope you're doing alright too and thanks again for your kind support bro.
Hugs! Sorry to hear that. My condolences to you and your family. At least, you have visited your father the last time. Go ahead and cry if you miss him. It is alright to cry and moan for him. But take care and spend time with your mother when you are back home.
Hey Marie! Hope you have been well. Thank you so much for the condolences and like you said I'm so happy that I at least got to visit him recently. Yah I have cried at times but sometimes feel really guilty for getting on with my life as if nothing's happened... you take care too during phase 2 and hope you and your family will stay safe! She will be affected more than u as she took care of your father 24x7. Be strong for your mother and give her a virtual shoulder to cry on. Take care and till you are back to be with her. I guess for these few weeks, you have nothing much to do as our government has tightened our movement to stop the spread. God bless.

My dad passed on late December last year due to pneumonia. I have one elder Sister and younger sister and only son in the family I understand how you feel. I knew your channel in the episode when you returned to Singapore from New Zealand. I will support your channel. Keep up the good work Steve!
@@Dan-nb7zq Hey I'm sorry to hear that bro... Until my dad passed away, I didn't know that so many elderlies passed away from pneumonia... thank you for your support, I really appreciate it and take good care bro! Local cases going up a lot..
Hi. Just so happen to stumble across this video. I’ve lost my dad a few months back and I understand how it feels to lose someone during the pandemic and not being able to be there immediately as I’m also living in a different city :/ it’s going to be difficult but it gets better as time passes by. All the good and bad times you have spent with him will always be remembered. Take care :)
Hey thank you for leaving such a kind comment! And I really hope that you're doing better now.. for me lots of regrets for things I did and didn't do for him. Like you said I believe it will be difficult but things will get better and hope one day I can look back at good and bad memories and smile. Thank you and take care!!
@@ReddotDiariesyou will! I'm sure where ever he is, he would want you to be happy and not feel regret over the things you could have done. Remember to keep living the life he would want you to have. @@ReddotDiaries Yes i am sure he is ! Thanks for sharing ! Your parents must be proud of you. YOu are a good son! Take care.

Hey, I'm sorry your mum went through the same condition.. I know it's really awful right..because they can think clearly in their mind but basically trapped in the body that won't work.. I hope it's getting a bit warmer there now :) Haha yes I'm actually looking forward to that part of going back to NZ to make him proud. How's the covid situation over there?

Dear Steve, deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your beloved father. Thank you for sharing what has happened the past few weeks. It must have been so difficult to do this, so thank you for making this video. Was worried about how you were coping. The advice “Everyday is important” is so meaningful. I do believe that too. Take care, and all the best for your remaining time in SG and when you return to NZ.
Hi Jocelyn, thank you for the condolences...! I really appreciate it. It was very difficult the first few days especially not being at his funeral but now I'm just grateful and happy that I still managed to visit him few months ago. Sometimes I feel like the day that I wake up to in this able body is something that my dad would have longed for in his last days..so I feel bad kind of wasting it (although I to be honest I often end up wasting a lot of it..) I hope you and your family will stay safe during phase 2! Take care and thank you so much again.
