Thank you Juan! We felt absolutely safe all the time. The road between Villanvicencio and San Jose is in perfect conditions and we saw several police and military controls on the way. We were told in San José del Guaviare you walk around with your iphone in the hand and no-one would steal it and that you can leave you car outside and nothing will happen. War in this area is over and tourism is very much one of the best income sources for the region. We were also on the sideroads "trochas" in the middle of no-where by night... almost midnight and we felt safe. Go ahead and visit El Guaviare, this region became one of our favourite spots in Colombia and we felt there safer than ever ;)
