      When I first got my BOB,Cujo my parrot was perched near my bed,I came into the room the torso under my arm and tossed it onto my bed,Cujo freaked out.Twenty years later the bird still wants nothing to do with BOB. Gran kids use him now too.

    Open hands to the head and punches to the body is the best combo, in my opinion.

    Really enjoyed your empty hand training, especially because on the street we may not have a stick or knife available. Very practical info you provided. Please upload more empty hand training. N thank Bob. He's a VERY valuable training partner. Tried many websites to purchase it, but the sellers state they are UNABLE to ship it to Hawaii. Can you suggest a source ? Feel strongly it would have a MAJOR impact on my beginner's Kali training. Feel your instructions are very practical n informative, especially for street defense applications. Please keep providing, especially, for beginners, more videos, etc. to help protect us on the street. Wish you had your Kali school here. Thanks again.

    I really like seeing the application of weapons training to the empty hands. Personally, I'd like to see even more of it in the Kali Center Empty Hands curriculum. Do you, or will you, ever get into things like takedowns and Dumog techniques? I know I don't really see any of that kind of training in the KC curriculum. Just curious. Thanks for the video!

    Great lesson. Thanks, Bob. I've learned so much. The one quetion i still have is can you fight using 2 daggers vs sticks or swords and nun chucks? My primary weapon is a single 5" hunting knife but if im exspecting troule i carry 2 13"daggers. Do i sand a chance against weapons that have longer teach. Could you do a tutorial on mismatched weapons?

    Awesome, would like some more empty hands stuff please. Would it be worthwhile to practice getting too close in a single stick drill and backing that up with a strike from your empty hand? Assuming grabbing/trapping the opponent's stick arm is not an option at the time.

All of this work has muscle memory or close to doing something in self defense. Please lead the way because u tubers don't have the time. Combinning kali and work around the house promotes success & influences HIGH MOTIVATION.

    Nice, but you forgot the most important part of the slap technique...
    When you hit shout "take that, and that, and that." Try it next time, you'll see it makes the strikes better. ;)

  • @spectrealangritch
    @spectrealangritch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should always train both sides equally.. for a few reasons. Most important, no one will be where you train to strike during an attack. Train to attack any angle, any position, any power from any advantage.

    I like the open handed methods, very good for grabbing. But if it really comes to life or death and I have to fight, I'd rather risk breaking a few fingers with punches for the extra damage. Besides, as someone who trained in boxing, Kali's closed fists just flow better with me.

    @beaudoubleday300 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seriously not trying to compare or discredit, I have alot of respect for this martial art. I'm just curious because these techniques look very telegraphed and meaning there are multiple body clues its happening before the strike lands. even the elbow strike has a windup up to it. Just wondering why?

    • @blainestevens6701
      @blainestevens6701 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’re watching it from the side. We *see* all the wind up. But from front on, all a person is going to be to do is block or punch or pull back. There’s such a thing as processing too much movement, even trying to gauge the angle from the windup. If they block, you’ve already gotten the hand to the back of the head, and things are going to start coming a lot faster to them.

    Look... Real opponent is not Bob. He moves, he reacts, he defends himself... Actually, he hits back. E.g. that combination with slap in real life will look like: opponent bloks your slap (it's ve-e-e-ry noticeable) and hits with cross directly to your chin. Clear, you shouldn't believe me... But ask some boxer or kick-boxer personally about this techniques.

    • @Neander0531
      @Neander0531 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kaen Awoken >> It's not too much of a differene compared to a normal punch.
      Try to slap at first to long, at second makes fighter completely opened. Forearm strike also is very long. That means, this strikes could be only second in combination, if opponent already shocked. So what is combination? What is the fight plan? And why he shows us strikes, that make no sence without explanation, how to use it in fight? And do I realy need those exotic strikes, if my opponent already shocked?
