    To remain unbeaten for 9 years 9 months and 9 days is incredible, every time I watch this video I get some kind of divine energy in me, the greatest motivation an athlete can have, One of the Greatest Athletes that Athletics has produced so far, will inspire generations. God Bless Ed Moses.

    Moses was an athletic revolutionary who continually raised the bar of his signature event, dominated within it for an incredible period of time, and set a standard of consistency that is not likely to be equaled in track and field for decades. Add that level of achievement to a low key, humble demeanor and you have the very definition of greatness.

    He was the Man back in the day!! 44 yrs old now, but can remember jumping over park benches as a kid, pretending to be Edwin Moses. He had lots of class too, and continues to do great things for his sport and humanity. Thanks for posting this.

    He is a pure vegetarian. And that's as rare in athletics, as much as the no. of athletes who don't use drugs. Ed was probably the cleanest athlete when it comes to habits. Later, as a sports administrator, he designed and created the random drug testing of athletes, both in and out of competition. I really admire what this man has done so far. I wish him a long, healthy, prosperous life !

    I suppose the biggest complement I can pay Moses apart from his quite astonishing winning streak record that will never be beaten is that the 400m hurdles has never had a real superstar since that has moved the event on! An absolute genius of track and field

      Greatest 400 metre hurdler of all time. Simply majestic. An utterly world class athlete whose record of 122 unbeaten races will last forever.

    Such a shame that he didn't get to compete at the 1980 Olympics, that the inaugural World Championships were as late as 1983, and the fact that they were hosted only every 4th year. If it hadn't been for that, his medal record would've been even more impressive.

    Taking physics in college? He certainly had abilities and used them to the fullest; He made it sound like he broke the race down and figured his best chance for running the quickest time; Then out-trained everyone; He did seem to take it all in-stride pretty well
    --
    No loses for almost a decade? I'd to see if any other person was touched win streak like that

    It's sad to say that ESPN won't give this man his due when it comes to the most dominant athlete in his era.

    • @simonhill1590
      @simonhill1590 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Indeed that is sad. I don't think another athlete comes close to his achievements. And self-taught too - something I never knew until now.

    1988 Olympic,he didn't get the gold, that was understood,he was past his prime,age caught him
    ..but 1976,(1980should be his gold if the boycott did not happen) and 1984 gold medal proven he was the greatest 400m hurdler of all time...being humble makes him more beautiful.

    I'll never forget at the 1983 World Championships, I think, the track world waited to watch Edwin run the anchor leg of the 4X400 relay but the baton was dropped before he got it. One of the big disappointments of the decade in track.

    10ft strides 4 400metres, amazing,seems to me that stride length wins, bolts the same in his event, the days o the small compact sprinter should be over, the proof is in less strides

    I think the 400m is harde, You have to go almost all for about 4 football feilds, and you need to slow down for the hurdles.
