I saw this match on TV back in 1974. Connors was in his prime, early 20s, while Laver was already at the end of his career at 38. Even with all that the "Rocket" showed glimpses of his greatness. Too bad they couldn't have played while both were in their prime. I would put my money on Laver.
Love the court level view. Shows the pace they hit with even with the small rackets. I try to tell younger people that who look at some other old video.
There’s a story in Jimmys book, if I remember correctly, about the negations behind this match about Rod want the balls opened ahead of time so they would not be so lively. Could have been a different exhibition but I think this is it, not sure.
Thanks a lot for posting. I've seen footage of Borg playing Laver, but this was the first time I'd seen the Rocket and Jimbo having a game.
