1 critically injured in NC Highway 24 Crash between SUV and Bobtail Tractor

Just after 9 am, Vander Fire Rescue, City of Fayetteville Fire along with Cumberland County EMS were called to the intersection of NC Highway 24 and Whitehead Rd for a vehicle crash.
Units arrived on scene to find bobtail cab of a tractor trailer and a Lincoln Navigator had collided in the intersection.
The driver of the Lincoln was pinned inside and had to be extricated by removing the driver side front door. The responders were providing CPR to this person as they were removing the driver and starting transport from the scene. This person is listed as critical with life threatening injuries.
The truck driver was out of the vehicle walking around but did get transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital with injuries.
NCSHP has arrived and is currently investigating the crash.
Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has arrived to conduct photos (Protocol when there is a potential for a fatality)
All outbound highway 24 traffic is being diverted onto Whitehead Rd to Downing Road and reenter Highway 24.
