    G'day!
I'm Jess Van Den - a former school teacher and science communicator - and I've wanted to make a living online since 1998. But it took me another decade to figure out how...
    I started my craft business Epheriell.com as a hobby in 2008 - and in 2010 I went full-time.
    I've been 100% self-employed ever since.
In 2013 I also started createandthrive.com to help other makers turn their handmade hobby into a thriving business via a blog, podcast, courses, membership community + more.
I also love learning & sharing more about health, happiness, plants, and how to be more effective as a work-from-home, full-time self-employed creative - so I have all the time I need to do all the things I love.

This was helpful, thank you! My main challenge is the prices, since I'm using good quality suppliers so my cost price isn't that low. So it'd be difficult to make a profit if I sold the items at 50% retail unless I made my products more expensive than my competitors? My cost prices will reduce if I order higher quantities but I didn't want to order large quantities before I knew what would sell.

OMG--that killed me, when you said "For the love of handmade..." Love that! Thank you for giving me a good laugh today and also, I enjoy your channel and your accent always makes me smile! (I'm in the US).

Talk about timing! I was about to email a couple of shops and know now that I need to tweak my email. BUT “for the love of handmade” I DID include my website and Etsy shop links but I confess mainly because one shop asks for them 😉

This is extremely helpful. Thank you so much! Although I will say, coming from Arizona, I got a giggle out of the idea Americans are more "formal" 😆
