    Deban's reaction really didn't age well. It's not that he didn't like the song or even that he called it his second least favourite entry Italy has sent since they came back. That's his personal taste. But the comment about obsessed fans who pushed them through in San Remo and would need to find a way to vote for them in Eurovision too (implying they don't stand a chance with an international audience or musical experts) was really uncalled for. "Zitti e Buoni" is in the top 10 of the most successful entries ever in televoting so he couldn't be more wrong. I wonder if he changed his mind after their performance in Eurovision or still doesn't like the song.
    William on the other hand was pretty accurate on his prediction. This would never be a mid-table performance. Their vibe was too unique and Damiano too charismatic for anyone to ignore it. It was either gonna be loved or hated.

    I like very much Deban's directness, although I have to point out again that Sanremo is NOT a selection for ESC, so NO ONE here in Italy thought about "how well it will perform at ESC" or "which song should we choose to win the ESC?". No no no no no no no. The younger generations are starting to get interested in ESC, but among the middle aged (like me) it's just a bunch of not-conventional people who cares about it (me and my gf are the only ones in our group of friends), the old generations remember the 60's/70's editions and still call it "EuroFestival". Same - strangely - for the music industry: Mahmood himself was unsure on going to ESC (imagine that...). Anyway I was expecting your reaction. William, let me say that you're very different from most of your "fellow competitors" doing reactions on ESC: you study the not-english lyrics, you look into the background of the singers, you do a serious job. You're by far the most thoroughly prepared one. You really care and we love you for that! Please keep up the good job. Greetings from Italy.

    Sanremo is overall just amazing, filled with amazing artists.

And the covers of other famous songs were also amazing, especially Colapesce e Dimartino's cover of "Povera patria". If I have one criticism of "Zitti e buoni" It's that it's a little repetitive.

I was scared I was going to have to spend a year hating the current winner. LOL! Now I love the song, and a few others of theirs. The lovely experience that is watching Damiano probably has a *little* to do with it, too. ;-)

  • @saram.8671
    @saram.8671 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I totally understand if the song doesn't please everyone (like Deban), especially if you only can judge by the sound bc you don't understand the lyrics (I think understanding the lyrics makes it way better) but what captivated me at Sanremo was their energy on stage, their costumes that showed their true identity, and especially Damiano's attittude and the way he flirts with the camera. Maybe not so obvious on the first night but the final performance was sooooo good! These guys are made for being on stage. And I really can't wait to see how the staging/outfits/makeup will be at Eurovision. I wish them lots of luck and I will vote for them 🇮🇹🤘

    I still don't understand people complaining that Italy's entry is too "basic" for a rock song but then get super hyped for Finland, as if that song was "original"🤔🤔

    • @lormon9995
      @lormon9995 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      And also, since when has originality been a factor in Eurovision? Like come on, Sweden has been sending the same kind of songs for years and is consistently in the top 10, Cyprus is one of the favourites to win this year and again their song sounds just like any average pop song you'll ever hear on the radio, same goes for other fan favourites like Serbia and Croatia. This year's contest is perhaps one of the dullest, least diverse Eurovisions in years in terms of music genres, yet we're here complaining that a rock song is too unoriginal 🤔😑

    Last year I wrote under yours reaction of Diodato and this year I wanna do the same. As Italian I’m really happy for their winning because this has meant a big change for Italian music and also for the Italian conception of Sanremo’s festival. They are going to bring a beautiful show, an awesome song full of energy but especially full of anger, and I guess that a lot of people is angry and wants to take that anger out. Måneskin are just amazing and in the perfect harmony with what the world is living. In particular way, what Italians lived during the first months of pandemic.
    We just want our lives back, and if to scream a beautiful anger song in front of the the largest number of viewers will be necessary, they will do it, who cares if is too much, who cares if they will be in the top five or bottom five, who cares if they are worst or better than another rock band!
    Eurovision will receive a brand new fashion glam rock exhibition.
    Proud to be Italian because they are going to represent all of our feelings, all of our anger and all our will to go back to normality. Just wait for them.
    I’m so freaking happy to be represented by them🔥
    Forza MÅNESKIN 🇮🇹 🇮🇹 🇮🇹

    Thanks you both for your reaction video! William your review is so enthusiastic, I sense you really felt the song, nice, they deserve some push from EU vloggers 🤩 What I love about Maneskin is that you never know what to expect from them - and they are 21 or something like that,very very young. Couple of years ago they had this huge hit 'Torna a casa', it's like one of my favorite italian tracks ever, and it's total opposite of Zitti e buoni

    The Finnish entry sounds completely like Linkin Park, what's original about that?

    • @magdalena6508
      @magdalena6508 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Right? I like Blind Channel song but it's not original. My first thought was Linkin Park. Maneskin is original, rocky, glam and I wish they would win this year!

      I was listening to it yesterday with my boyfriend, who promptly pointed out that first of all it's Nu Metal (so you can't compare Italy to Finland because they bring two different genres), and two yes, it kind of reminds us of a mix between Linkin Park and some elements from The Rasmus(?). It's not bad, I've always liked Finnish music, but it's just something we've already heard.

      @@ValeMareArt absolutely agree, their performance is great but it's obviously linking park and rasmus mix. And Maneskin is like Beatles went wild and call Freddy Mercury to be a singer. Damiano's vocal and performance is stunning
