One of our favourite episodes so far! Bakugoat is really starting to shine as a character. We’re up to episode 4x11 over on Patreon for anyone wanting to get early access! www.patreon.com/carlie_and_ange Thanks for watching ❤
4:30 That right there. "Why was I the one that ended All Might?" That was the most heartbreaking thing I never expected out of Bakugo. It shows how much he really admires All Might, but he blames himself for getting caught, not being strong enough, ultimately leading to the fight between All for One and All Might, and All Might being drained of the last of his power. Bakugo of course didn't know that the embers of All Might's quirk was going to fade eventually anyway. But yeah, ugh that voice acting too! It really hits you in the feels!
It's episodes like this that really make me appreciate Nobuhiko Okamoto, the voice actor for Bakugo. He's the same VA for HIMMEL! I haven't seen range like that in two shows I love since Yuki Kaji's Kenma/Eren combo. Love it!
Crazy part about Bakugo and Himmel is that both their sub and dub va's voice the other character. So Nobuhiko Okamoto voices Bakugo and Himmel in sub and Clifford Chapin voices them in dub
@Defektydyeah some va's just end up doing that on coincidence 😅 another example is Mariya Ise voicing Killua (HxH) and young Gojo (JJK) in sub while Cristina Vee voicing the same character in dub
Bakugo is such a well written character. When the show starts out you think he's just going to be some one-dimensional bully character, but with each season he gets a few more layers. When you find out that he blames himself for what happened to All Might it puts everything in a new perspective. Everything he does to be the best is to prevent stuff like that, he's just going about it in the angriest most boastful way (which frankly, when you factor in he's a teenager, is pretty accurate).
Well, initially he was supposed to just be a one-dimension bully character. That's how the creator wanted him to be, but when Bakugou unexpectedly became a fan favorite he redesigned his personality and gave him more depth and redemption.
Lmao both their reaction from 7:03 to 7:31 is priceless. Watching people experiencing Nakamura's animations for the first time is quickly becoming a newfound obsession
When Bakugo said that the incident with All Might would just pop into his head it hit me so hard in the feels. Anyone with a major regret knows that feeling. How it will just appear out of nowhere because you can't do anything about it, its already happened.
This episode also adds some perspective to Bakugo being even more furious than usual at the H.U.C. couple for needing to be rescued during the licensing exam.
This is my favorite episode of the entire series. Bakugo is my favorite character for sure, and this was the first episode that was true. This is the first time we truly see his depth. Almost nobody even clocks that he COULD have blamed himself for All Might. He's so well written. Watching him genuinely grow as a douchy teen into a better and better person is so satisfying. Without spoiling anything, his importance grew to me with every passing episode. Glad you guys loved this episode.
Fun fact: In the post-credits scene, it was actually Bakugo who broke the ice with Deku and gave him (in his own way) feedback on his abilities. It's a small detail, but I feel it does bring a different perspective to the situation. Btw this is also one of my favorite episodes of the series. Even after I finished reading the manga, Bakugo became my favorite character when I first watched this episode, so I'm glad to see people that actually tried to understand him or look beyond what is seen superficially.
You're right about their rivality. 13:27 Part of the narrative point was for Bakugo to be able to defeat him to emphasize Bakugo's progress despite his ever-present feeling of inferiority to Izuku (and only Izuku); and on the other hand, so that Midoriya is motivated to improve even more, because that is the standard for Izuku, the effect that Bakugo has on him. That's why these two have one of the best rivalries in the industry.
The VA of Bakugou went Plus Ultra in this Episode! The part of MHA I love the most was the rivalry between Bakugou and Midoriya. The character development of Bakugou, so good. Much more to come in future seasons, can't wait to watch all the reactions, but do take your time if needed! Was waiting for this reaction since 2 weeks😂
Katsuki's VA Nobuhiko was really amazing in this episode. Bakugo's emotions, his character development makes him my MVP this episode. The fight choreography and animation is peak and my favorite this season.
By season 7 I can honestly say not only is Bakugo one of the best written characters in my hero, he is one of the best written characters in all of anime. And mannnn that scene with Deku spinning to do the kick is the sickestttt part of this episode lmaooo
17:58 That's a really cool take on that whole situation! I never even considered the parallels in regards to this fight like that, so I'm glad you were thinking of it.
theres a specific line from the dub of this episode that sticks out to me so much, when izuku says: all might was my hero, but you were the one actually in my life! it shows their connection so well, and i love how izuku highlights that his symbol of victory is bakugo. i love their story building
I started watching mha in 2018. One of my friends at the time showed it to me and I fell in love pretty fast with the concept. Like most people I didn't think to watch it cause of the young fan base and the cringe that came from it. (Though I'll admit that I was also a cringe kid at one point lol). I knew bakugo was popular but I honestly didn't get it. I didn't like him at all and didn't see the hype. Then this episode happened and I was shocked. Now with hindsight I can fully enjoy him even in the earlier episodes when he was more of a bully. He's definitely one of if not my favorite characters.
I re-watched the show in the lead up to season 7, and you're so right. The early seasons are in such a different perspective once you know more about the character. He's still a bully, no doubt, but his motivations to be the best and be strong make so much more sense now. Easily one of the best written characters in the show.
Bakugo definitely jumped to my favorite character in this episode, as Ange said, if you filter out the way he speaks what he says is usually pretty inspiring lol also, in retrospect, I think All Might being forced to fight All for One again "so soon" was for the best as we are in a situation where All Might was only going to get weaker while AFO was only going to get stronger as time progresses, so dealing with it now instead of later was the "ideal"
One thing to remember as well is Endeavor is significantly younger than All Might (10 years?), preventing them from having the kind of rivalry that Deku and Bakugo are building here
It's sad when you watch some of the prior episodes and see how it was affecting him. Telling the civilians to 'save themselves.' His mum blaming him for being weak, getting caught and causing everyone trouble. It's pretty heartbreaking...
11:10 Same, Carlie, same. Also, Ange's reaction to that was too funny. 😂 I don't blame y'all at all for this being your favorite episode of season 3. It's one of mine for sure, along with 3x4 and 3x11. I was one of the people that started off not liking Bakugo at all, but he grew on me and I definitely liked him by this point, but I think this episode is what made me love him. It's always fun for me when a series manages to make me love a character that I absolutely disliked at first. It's gotten to a point, especially in anime, where when I dislike a character, I think, "watch I'll end up loving them." 😆
S3E4 and S3E23 are the absolute peaks of Deku. That's the character at his very, very best & enjoyable for me. He never gets close to these heights again imo. And S3E22 & E23 are such an amazing set of episodes, not just because of how great Deku is but also because all of the development of Bakugo until now, some changes more subtle, some less, culminated into an explosion (pun not intended) of emotions and development in this episode. Just stellar, and probably one of my top 10 episodes of the entire series. And my god, the voice acting. There are several episodes in BNHA where the voice acting is simply beyond incredible, and this is one of them. Also excited to see that you're already up to 4x11 on Patreon - I can't wait for that particular episode to come to TH-cam. L.
Thank you for your reactions. There are new mha watchers who dropped the show because the Jjk, aot, demon slayer, and Vinland saga fans bullied those channels into dropping mha reactions. I am glad you guys took the time to understand this show. It has heart.
*This was a big step for Kacchan. It makes me really sad that he genuinely blamed himself for what happened, but it’s also good that he’s finally opening up more. This rivalry is more than just that, in a lot of ways, it seems like this is Kacchan’s way of expressing himself. I could be looking too far into things, but still, it’s good that Kacchan is opening up more about his feelings. It’s not good to keep them bottled up, especially since he blames himself for what happened.*
MY SECOND BEST EPISODE OF MY HERO ACADEMIA!!! Always gives me goosebumps the part of this episode when Midoriya yells at Bakugo: "IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT???!!! and Kacchan's scream and expression are priceless. 7:29 From this episode Kacchan became truly in my favorite character of My Hero Academia. And Nobuhiko Okamoto the VA of Bakugo did a fu*king great job he is so amazing. I love Izuku, he's a great protagonist, no matter what people say 15:51 AND YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT Katsuki Bakugo is the best written character in MHA.

The dub in general is pretty decent, honestly (I still prefer sub, but credit where its due), but to the dub's credit, Bakugo's dub VA consistently brings it.
Bakugo has 3 main issues, his inferiority complex, his attitude (which involves the way he speaks), and his pride which sometimes blinds him. That´s why Midoriya despite all the insults he received was able to see the best part of Bakugo unlike the yelling guy who was not capable of understanding why the "crybaby" that he considered inferior and weak was ready to jump in and help him.
Im ok with Bakugo having MVP, deku is also very derervant of it since he accepted Bakugo's feelings and did so in Bakugo's terms since he wasn't gonna accomplish anything just talking, clearing out a lot of noise and misunderstandings between the two, they're both the mvps
While Bakugo isn't my absolute favourite, this episode especially was a great example of why I think he has the best character development in this show
It's episodes like this one that makes me praise Horikoshi above a lot of other writers. One of our favourite episodes so far! Bakugoat is really starting to shine as a character.

Dang! That's (4x11) a masterpiece of an episode as well! Hope you enjoyed that one as I did.
One of my favourites as well. Bakugo is honestly one of the best written characters in the show (to this point)
Hope you guys check out Dragon Ball Daima soon🙏🏾🔥
Narutoooooo
I love that after-credits scene, with Bakugo giving Deku pointers. It's the most civil we've seen the two of them, and a huge step for them both.
4:30 That right there. "Why was I the one that ended All Might?" That was the most heartbreaking thing I never expected out of Bakugo. Him in Angels of Death as Isaac Foster was also crazy good.
One of my all time favourite VAs behind Naoya Uchida.
He’s also Nishinoya in Haikyuu.

Bakugo MVP, for keeping the secret, and for that emotional moment where he says it was his fault All Might had to retire
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 😭😭 This episode is a 10/10 for me. I just love Bakugo episodes so much.

MVP Nobuhiko Okamoto for that voice acting
Not the Bertold cameo at the beginning😂
9:25 - Me too. Literally tears streaming down my face every time. All Might is such a good not-dad.
The VA of Bakugou went Plus Ultra in this Episode!

They're proper rivals now. That's great character development over 3 seasons finally coming to fruition.
I’ve been waiting so long for this episode! Such an incredible fight and character development for Bakugo, Deku and All-Might!
That hug between bakugo and all might claimed my heart ♥♥♥
Katsuki's VA Nobuhiko was really amazing in this episode. Bakugo's emotions, his character development makes him my MVP this episode.
The fight choreography and animation is peak and my favorite this season.

Episode 11 of the 7th season really cemented this. His little speech about how he always wanted All Might's autograph breaks me.
@ yeh that episode def cemented it
Carly is gonna need an entire box of tissues for s7 ep11
Having Bakugo finally open up was so satisfying.
