Thank you for this great information. I’m 2 weeks post op for decompression on L4 & 5 and was thinking I should be pain free by now but the operation site is still painful and I have to take paracetamol and ibuprofen. I’m glad you said 4-6 weeks for recovery, my daughter, who is a nurse, told me my expectations were too high 😂
Impatient like me! I had L3/L4, L4/L5 end of Nov 24. Sciatica in both legs gone immediately, sore internally on the bones they worked on, buy 5 weeks now and I’m pain free, no more OTC pain relief needed after 3 weeks, great mobility. Hope you are fully recovered.
Hi I've done decompression and dyscetomy of L4 and L5 six weeks ago ,feeling much better from the pain able to walk about 3km now..operation done in Netcare Johannesburg
After months of physio and root nerve block, the next option is decompression surgery which sounds scary. I feel more confident in knowing what to expect at the next consultation and what questions I need to ask. Simply having a high level synopsis of the surgery and expectations around recovery has been really helpful. Thank you for the peace of mind and understanding decompression surgery. I appreciate how you made it simple, understandable and informative whilst easing any worries or fear. Thank you!
Go for it, I was worried but it was very straight forward and the relief was instant. Only needed over the counter pain relief afterwards and 1 tramadol on a night before bed incase I woke up. Only took 1 tab (can take up to 8 a day) and only took them for 4 days. 5 weeks post surgery now (Dec 24) full mobility no lingering pain at all.
Recently (4 weeks ago), I had foraminal decompression surgery to relieve the symptoms as a result of foraminal stenosis (L3-L4; L4-L5) in my left leg. The operation was a success as about 90% of the leg pain has been relieved. However, since the surgery, I've had radicular pain in my right leg, but this time in the sciatic nerve. The pain is about as intense as my left leg before surgery. My question is: how common is this contralateral pain after surgery and is it a post-operative symptom or is another surgery in the works for decompression on my right side? (I hadn't any pain in my right leg previously but the MRI shows severe right side foraminal stenosis at L5 - S1 level).
@@GR65330 I’ll tell you what. Last year when I had a discetomy, the pain was tremendous for a while in the same leg. They said it was because of blood circulation that wasn’t there before. It died down after a few weeks but with disc degeneration I’m needing major surgery again. Hope you’re feeling better by now.
Just had this by Dan Fagan, 5 years of bilateral sciatica gone in one go. Never had any back pain, always leg pain. Well worth the cost.
I have a fractured L1 7.5 months ago. Is it possible to heal naturally without operation???

I'm up for another surgery years after my first fusion at L4/L5 in 2018. How are you coming along with your healing?
How is it now? How do you feel?

Has it gone away yet?
@@gimbalair Thank you for your concern. Yes, the surgery was successful. Now I have the same pain in my right leg so it looks like surgery again.
AI Doctor as he never blink once 😂
