As someone who watches at double speed, I had to go back and listen at regular.
It was about normal for me doing that.
i'm the scatman!
Amazing intro, you should do it like that from now on
AYYEVERYBODY
I don't wanna make assumptions but the intro and this video you sounded so genuinely excited to be playing and honestly it really adds to the entertainment when the video is just exuding fun and enjoyment
Stanford Bridge was where Harold beat Harald, Hastings was William's victory and Fulford was when Harald landed in England and beat up two northern earls
Didn't Harold win the battle though
@@skeptic781 Harold won Stamford Bridge. Harald Hardrada won Fulford which was a smaller battle prior Stamford Bridge.
@@мх.сп Thanks for the clarification, I'm a bit slow
@@skeptic781 Hastings? No, he got shot in the eye (possibly) and his army scattered. Stanford Bridge? Yes but that was against the Norwegians not the Normans. And for Fulford I am pretty sure that was a Norwegian victory.
Okay but what would've happened if hardrade had won the battle of Stamford Bridge?
15:15 "I'm going to go intimidate my vassals."
19:40 "Why am I not making any friends?!"
Also he made a lot of rivals.
But on the upside... this lot of rivalries didn't last long. Specially since he had a legal reason to imprison lots on them.
And a had legal reason to execute one of them.
9:38 the northern earls didn't rise up to put Tostig on the throne, Tostig had actually died at the battle of Stamford Bridge fighting on behalf of the Norweigens (he had a lot of grievences with his brother) but they actually rose up to put Edgar Aethling on the throne, who was the nephew of Edward the Confessor, who was king before Harold Godwinson
I knew I should've refreshed my memory about the conquest of England before recording 😭
Thank you for the corrections!
Eadgar is Count of Warwick in 1066. I love playing as him. Making sure Godwin loses to Norway almost guarantees they establish Scandinavian Elective, which Eadgar stands a pretty good chance of winning when Haraldr dies. Eadgar also has a claim on Ruthenia through his Mother. Making a United Kingdom of England and Russia has always been very difficult, but a fun time.
The intro definitely deserves a like
25:20 The ugly Burger King crown you get as Emperor is actually modeled quite closely after the Crown of St. Wenceslas, the crown jewel of Bohemia. As much as I'm reluctant to admit it, the real version does also look a little bit over the top (they didn't know how to cut jewels back then, I guess, so they just stuck these massive goofy rubies and sapphires on it) but it still looks way better than in-game. The texture and shading of game version really doesn't do it any favors by making it look like spray-painted plastic lol. The game’s version is also WAY too big and tall, which makes it look even goofier, whereas the real thing is more like a very elaborate circlet.
It's very unlikely they'd ever go back to this, but I hope some modder might at some point give it a bit of a touch up so it looks better lol
At 19:27, the war widows sons died for Normandy, fighting on your behalf. They died for your glory, that’s why she was upset.
6:20 Yes, he was called 'William Rufus', or just 'Rufus', because of his red hair. I think he's called 'Rufus' and not 'William' in Total War Medieval II.
It's debatable though, his face easily turned red and he has blonde hair, like Kevin de Bruyne, who also being called red for some reason
@@clucknbell4613 strawberry blonde idk
19:00
They were Norman because they fought on your side and all died in the battle
Minor correction: Tostig Godwinson allied with Harold Hardrada and was killed at Stamford Bridge. Earls Edwin and Morcar *hated* Tostig with a passion and were even the ones to usurp his seat of power after a large rebellion in Northumbria before 1066.
Rappers been real quiet since the intro dropped.
Can confirm the French like cheese
5:12 emperor Caligula also gets his nickname "Caligula" from little boot.
I think in fact that William is the direct descendant o Chales Magne, what a twist, i would never expect that!
19:10 Who said they were fighting on King Phillipe's side? She just said your battle caused them all to die. They could have been your loyal dudes who died for your cause, and then you ignore their poor woman.
Great job on your William the Conqueror video! Your presentation was informative and engaging, and your passion for the subject really shone through. You did an excellent job of breaking down complex historical events and making them accessible to your audience. Keep up the fantastic work!
I need a new ck3 RP series from OPB.. :(
100% agree
Seconding this! I absolutely love his storytelling and the way he thinks from characters’ perspectives
Yep, would so love for him to continue where he left off. We were right at an awesome moment as well!
I love that you have three Excaliburs... all authentic.
I'd watch an entire 3 season roleplay of this I swear.
All William's sons had nicknames:
Robert Curthose - short stockings. Probably relates to the little boot quip.
William Rufus - the Red. Probably a redhead who also went redfaced a lot
Henry Beauclerc - the good priest. He was considered a good debater and theologian.
Robert was always annoyed he didn't get England from his father so when William had a little forest "accident" he claimed the throne. Henry had church backing, got the throne instead, and imprisoned his brother. He may also have been responsible for William Rufus dying.
"to day we are going to check out the most interesting start " your start was exactly that. XD
16:37 That laugh, when OPB see wounded child... Are you feeling good? 😆
18:09 I will amend his face! 😆
OPB practicing for his rap carrier in that intro.
I'll have you know my pond is both spacious and cost effective!
Wonderful video big lad, but would have been 2% better if you played as Haesteinn 🐒
I think the isle of wight is kinda fitting as the capital of the Angevin empire because it's between Britain and France
this was awesome!! i missed your ck3 gameplay vids
This was indeed the ideal William the Conqueror playthrough, loved the video
I even can't imagine what would come out of this time line...
But i'm sure the Angevin/ HRE empire rivalry would be epic
I'm not familiar much in european history, but didn't the annexation/assimilation of Hungary with Austria happens much much later IRL? Since it happens now, HRE looks very bloated.
Such powers rested in these two great empires are absolutely going to accelerate the Great War.
Actually William of Normandy was of Carolingian lineage via Charles the Bold's daughter"s wedding to the Duke of Normandy!
William does descend from Charlamange. The connection is via women though, so he isn't of the dynasty
BEST intro
25:49 Honestly started laughing my ass off at a friggin crusade for Pomerania hahaha
The Koifish reference 😂🤦🏽♂️ I also love his videos
Historically, Norman kings remained the vassals of France from Normandy: CK3 need to fix that that the king cannot be a vassal of another king from some territory.
Before this dlc came out William the conqueror in my game managed to do almost the exact same thing, like he got a claim over France before he won in England then he came back to conquer France as well.
I'm guessing he somehow convinced the pope to give him a claim since the King of France was still a kid at the time.
Watup opb. Love the tt coverage. Cant wait for the wards and wardens vids to come
Is this Ck2 music? haha is this guy for real?
Great video
after the noman conquests angland became england. this played out almost exactly how it did IRL. anglo-saxons lost power sure but the cultures merged over the next few centuries rather than them being wiped out.
The opening sounds like Boomhauer from king of the hill
For a moment I thought it was Winston Churchill speaking...
Whoa they actually made a mod with the bayeux tapestry!!! That's so cool!!! AND I CAN PLAY IT WITH ACHIEVEMENTS HELL YES
24:10 damn, hunt down the freeman reference
Having few big vassals will be really better now for stability
Achievements without Ironman and with Mods? Is that intended? If so that's awesome! Did Paradox say it would be like that from now on?
Yes! It is intended although they only announced it under the radar!
Will it now be possible to unlock achievements with every mod?
omg that intro :D
Is that... A northernlion reference in the end?
Or am I just a crazy kooky man?
Northernlion is bald?????
Wild that you got Eminem to do the intro for you
@oneproudbavarian have you thought about checking out the ck3 mods weight of the crown and cultural armies ? The reason I bring them up is because I have tried them out and they are very interesting. Some wiser coverage would be nice.
I gotta wonder, will we see your CK3 roleplay series making use of the new DLC someday? 👀 I'm still a diehard fan 8 months later!
Are all the mods working with the new DLC? I can't play Vanilla anymore and I can't put down Victoria 3 right now.
Oh, yeah, love the intro. That should always be your intro. :D
I just realized watching the video that the Bayeux Tapestry is part of a mod. I thought it was in Vanilla.
Enjoying this patch a lot now I can wait until it is implemented to overhaul mods.
I mean, all that "old Willie" would likely have to do to claim Carolingian heritage is say that Rollo demanded the hand of Charles the Bald's bastard kinswoman as wife as part of the vassalage, and badda bing badda boom Willie gets his Charlie-meme blood.
Kind of annoying that your allies can see you’re in a war with negative warscore(they didn’t know it was on purpose), call you into their offensive war and get mad when you’re focused on your war first. One you didn’t call them into btw. Selfish AI, lol.
Beautiful intro
I could totally see Laith fanboying over this 🤣
00:00 damn is it Z100 english level? [srry for my eng]
William the Conqueror definitely descended from Charles Martel, if you count female ancestral lines.
eminem's been real quiet since this dropped
how did you overthrow the regent? in my game i dont have the option even though i own the dlc is it a perk?!
I think little boot is a Caligula reference
"if you thought of William the Conqueror as not being a very scheme-minded person, then let me just tell you, you are wrong." Uh idk he did kinda create a real washy claim on one of the biggest kingdoms on earth and then won it somehow, i dont think ck3 deems that a scheme but like... Kinda a lil bit sneeky
Yeah, I agree with you
Florence is a banger OST
If I add mods to an already active ironman game, can I still get achievements?
How can you have the Angevin Empire/Culture if you're not from Anjou?
waiting to get eu4 achievs with mods or without ironman now
im encountering a lot of bugs and I havnt even tried playing with my favorite mods yet.
25:27 Charlemagnon?...
Sorry but the term "angevin" doesn't make any sense in that context. Your kingdom and dynasty have nothing to do with Anjou. "Angevin Empire" is used to describe a period in the history of the kingdom of England when their kings came from the dynasty of the counts of Anjou (and ruled half of France), that is not the case here.
OPB is NOT a koifish?
Aren't you missing out on Longbows if you don't for English?
what mods are you using for this new update? still the usual list?
Where's the end to the greece campaign???
Lore of This New Regency Exploit Is MASSIVE! (CK3) Momentum 100
Thank you OPB!
Engagement comment because i love this channel
That pronounciation of boudewijn. Ou in dutch is pronounced as the ou in house de is pronounced as the the but ...with a d sound rather than the th. And lastly wijn would be pronounced similarly to whine in english. So bou-the-whine phonetically.
Legendary hunts are currently bugged
👍👍
25:38 - Did they like seriously reduce the weight of Jerusalem and Egypt/Syria this patch lol? Unless Jerusalem is already Catholic, why on earth are they targeting anywhere in East Europe lmao
LOVE IT
Willian the ill conceived lol
Why does this guy sound like Pimp from CSGO.
Rap god Bavarian XD
hahahahaha the intro :D wtf
One Proud Bavarian, do you support Bavarian independence?
Now watch the video in 2x speed
It is pretty easy to get the perk in about the same amount of time as the regency
Hmm yes rule Angevina Indeed 🇬🇧 😍👌
I don't get the point of exploiting. At that point just cheat
So much English hate in this one 😂
He is bald
First
I disagree
First
You were second.
