One of the biggest reasons I want into the Air Force. I feel like I really need to 'Unlock' my life. College, work experience, full-time job, killer benefits, who WOULDN'T want that!?
this has been the best TH-cam page for helping me find out about the air force, Kyle gott is okay but he does More on his personal than the actual air force." Wild blue thank you"
As far as money goes, You do have the money, but no where to spend it in Minot! College life does give you alot of social life, dating life. No restrictions and no weird vibe on who you can be friends with and who you cant be. In the military, this whole rank, officer/enlisted dynamics just adds more conscious pressure on your ability to socialize, if you are not socially savvy.
Awesome Video! An added pro with the Air Force is that it gives you time to figure out what I want to get a degree in. I can't tell you how many times I've switched my Major, so having a great job while I find something I'm passionate about is a huge plus for me.
I think being focused on your goal is what military helps with you don't waste time going out at night, build discipline, helps build you to be high value if you take advantage of it.
Finding a job is hard period. No amount of college will fix that. Even veterans have problems with that. Luckily in the military 1.) you already have a job and 2.) you can switch into any job you want and education will help with that and 3.) Completing college will help immensely with getting promotions as well as becoming an officer so as long as you put it on your military record so you can be recognized for it.
Yeah finding a job is definitely the biggest con of going to college, I recently graduated as well and looking for a job is terrible. I'm actually looking into joining the air force as well.
I think that's a really smart move by you. you'll be Making good money and will be a higher rank than everyone else (2nd lieutenant) and you'll make good money. the air force will also pay up to $10,000 of any student loans you might owe.
Just got to tech school after getting my Bachelor. If I had to go back I'd probably join the air force before going to college. If you have scholarships, grants or enough cash to make it though without taking out over 15k in loans then go to school but if you don't have the money and you still want to go to college I'd recommend joining first. You start out with a decent amount of money for an 18 year old, barely any utility bills (I only have a phone bill and car insurance) , free health care (got two root canals and 2 crowns put in that would have cost me 2k on the outside), you get to make connections without spending money to make them and you also get free college education in the future...Can't beat that.
This was a very important video!! Thank you so much, so informative, I'd rather not waste 4 years of my life, $40,000+ dollars, and multiple internships to have a job I might not even love. But what steps should I take to enlist with the Air Force if I want to be a pilot for missionary work, mainly bush piloting?
WILDBLUEYONDER!!!! I have a question to ask (-: my uncle, retired navy said that after the military, like finished with your contract, if you still want to get paid by the airforce you still have to do schooling in order to get paid after your contract is over, is that true? THANK YOU!!!!
You should also mention that the Air Force offers around $9,000 for someone who wants to learn a trade such as automotive mechanic, welder, or electrician. If I remember correctly, you can only use it for one non-college degree/diploma. When I was stationed at MacDill AFB, it was $9,000 it may be more now or they may have gotten rid of it all together.
Wish you weren't so biased towards education in the military. It's not bad but, a lot is sugar coated. For example, a con of education in the military is that you won't finish your degree as fast as you would as a civilian. This is important to me to note, because the opportunity cost of time is high. Getting your degree as a civilian may get you a more satisfying / high paying job faster. Other than that, good informative video. Another con is that most of your military experience won't transfer over to a job that requires a degree.
Steven H the last part is debatable. I can't speak for all jobs but I know some that transfer perfectly fine. First part is a valuable thing to mention. I can only take 2 classes at once and because they're online(limited teacher interaction) even just those are kicking my ass lol
I am a USAF retiree, and worked as a superintendent for many young airmen. We put education high on our priorities. We would accommodate airmen's school schedule as much as we can. How quickly or slowly that degree comes, is up to the individual airman.
Didnt do great in hs. Currently enrolled at community college. I'd like to go into military as officer but because of life dont know if I should pursue going in as enlisted and go to school later. I already have 1.5 years done but not the best grades hoping to transfer to 4 year and get a degree then go into military to help pat off depts and earn benefits of officer ranking. If I go now is there a way I can just get the college experience after I serve or maybe do reserves? Should I just go now or try and grind through school first?
Yo love your videos. But I have a question about schooling in the military. Let’s say I want to go to school for a medical career but I get in the Air Force wt a job that isn’t a medical job. Can I still pursue it? Will the military let me go to school for what I want and help me with certifications?
AFR offers tuition assistance and will pay for your 4-year college if you don't already have an undergrad degree...as for transferring to AD that is really hit or miss depending on your AFSC and the needs of the Air Force.
Luckily in the UK college and highschool is free so we don't worry about payment unless where other 25 then we have to pay we also get GCSES a levels and a degree if you in the military in the uk
Can you do me a favor & let me know if all the Air Force bases have a community college on base? And how it's paid for (tuition assistance program, gi Bill, or completely free?)
They will give you a book with that information in it, it'll be up to you to learn it. So I would suggest learning it before you get there to minimize stress
I need 13 more credits to get to 45 college credits. Should I finish those first so I can have more benefits in the AF or just come as is? Would it be that much more beneficial for me to do that?
join, in my opinion there really is no point of waiting to join unless you are getting a bachelor degree, everything else besides that will equal out ( I'm a 6 year contract, 12 college credits currently making 1800/month as in E3 in alaska )
hey wby Im shipping out as open mech pretty soon and I want to put a few flightline jobs on my list because I always wanted to work on planes but when I lookup reviews of these jobs all I see is negative feedback..im usually not the type of person to let others peoples opinions affect mine but whats your input on this
Yea sure why not. Every airman is enroll into the CCAF (community college of the air force) sames classes and transfers to university and stuff. Or you can apply to another community college.. i wouldnt see the point but more power to you. Either way if ur going to CC while in the military the only reason being is that your High school grades sucked and you need to get a high CC GPA to negate it i guess..since while in the military money isnt really an issue
So not really about this video but I have a question that I'm not sure if you'll know the answer for. But here it is. What happens during BMT. if you go and you're there on September 11. Do they do anything special or just another day.
Just look up zero week. That should answer a ton of your questions. You could even look up the full schedule if you want. It has the number of hours you will spend doing each activity each week.
I have a question for anyone in the AF. I am in $9,000 in debt, and have 53 college credits and interesting in joining the AF. I heard from somewhere that I can either chose to have my student debt forgiven OR have the G.I bill, but NOT both. Is this true?
Rudy Fardon It's best to do AFROTC in college or go to the academy if you want to become a pilot because like half of all pilots are from the academy and a little under half is from AFROTC. The rest are those who go through OTS, which is a very small percentage
Can you get promoted if your in civil air patrol in jrotc? I am a Master Sergent in cap and I was wonder ING if I would get promoted in jrotc using that.
Wildblue I'm shipping out Tuesday the 9/6 and just finished my paper work for Federal Loan Forgiveness i graduated college and racked up $78,000 in student loan debt. My federal provider consolidated all that debt and said i only need to pay 14 bucks a month for 120 payments and the rest of the debt is wiped clean. Downside 10 years military upside 14 dollar payments. As a civilian i would have to pay 675 dollars for 15 years. The math is simple. I don't think enough Enlisted people talk about the Loan forgiveness act. The Air Force has granted me the the opportunity to only pay $1,680 off my 78k debt and be done with it.
Kris, what was your major and will you be using what you studied in the AF. Example, WildBlue fixes ejector seats or something. I'm not sure what college education you'd need to do that.
+Mick Funny I got a communication degree with a minor in marketing. I'll be going in as cyber transport systems. so it's making sure the bases servers and computers are working and making sure data is flowing smoothly just basically making sure all the computer systems are working correctly. this translates into the civilian world as a systems engineer
Keith it's not to late, call your main student loan provider and ask them about federal student loan forgiveness. what it is, is you gotta make 120 qualifying payments and they wipe the debt clean. The only catch is you have to be in the military for 10 years.
hey T u have ur priorities scrambled: getting ur degree is last!!!!!! u should have a problem getting a job! and Blue Y, i highly discourage this collaboration, don't dumb down man! u r obviously ambitious and driven
WBY!! Would it be okay if I ask you questions through Snapchat? I just added you a few days ago and I was wondering if it would be okay to ask you questions?
forget joining the military. its true that a lot of things are free financial wise but besides that you would be selling yourself to the government meaning you will get deployed a lot. i have a relate who went to college through the military and they wanted to be a lawyer but they cant because they always being deployed.
Isaiah Borum I get the most classes done when I'm deployed.... it's important people ask these questions to people like this WBY guy so they can get accurate info. You shouldn't speak on something you know nothing about.
MiVidaBellisima at least I won't be the one dealing with the VA hospital after I retire and can barely get any medicine. Congrats for selling yourself to the military lol
One of the biggest reasons I want into the Air Force. I feel like I really need to 'Unlock' my life. College, work experience, full-time job, killer benefits, who WOULDN'T want that!?
Good stuff bro. You hit the nail on the head!!
this has been the best TH-cam page for helping me find out about the air force, Kyle gott is okay but he does More on his personal than the actual air force." Wild blue thank you"
very true. I'm on this channel almost everyday. Proud subscriber!
100%
I went straight to college after high school - big mistake. The AF taught me the discipline I needed to excel in college. Wish I had done it sooner.
Awesome vid! It was great working with you man.
u got more vids coming?
Pro for military college, you served something far greater than yourself. Also, Vets will win a jobs over non-Vets. As it should be.
i like the way u get straight to the point in your utube channels . keep the good work up

AIFRANCHISE1 thank you for this comment
Hey WildBlueYonder this video really helped me, ur a really great youtuber and I hope u become successful. thanks
I'm also planning on joining the AF once I graduate this June. I plan on enlisting as well and apply for Officer training school in the future.

king jc getting a degree won’t Guarantee officer ranking especially with not the best grades

thank you, Terrell, for this informative vid
Oh snap a collab? Lol Hi Trell! This video was pretty nice
Where are you station now? I just PCSed to Minot for my 91st missile wing job.
If I join the Air Force reserve will the Air Force pay for me to go to a four year college . & once I graduate can I transfer to active duty .
Godfearing. C That is what I'm wondering.
Look at the comment I just made hopefully this helps
AFR offers tuition assistance and will pay for your 4-year college if you don't already have an undergrad degree...as for transferring to AD that is really hit or miss depending on your AFSC and the needs of the Air Force.

The drone never had a chance...
can you do a compare and contrast on active duty and reserves?
"Ooh she's cute"😂 but I'm Air Force and I agree with both sides
Quick question, do they teach you the air and creed and song? Or should you know this before you even go to bmt?
They will give you a book with that information in it, it'll be up to you to learn it. So I would suggest learning it before you get there to minimize stress
just Graduated BMT last week. they give you a book with the Airman's Creed and Air force song within the first few pages.
congratulations
Depends on the person. I've met and know people from ends of the spectrum on both the positive and negative. It's really what you make out of it.
You and kyle are my heroes lol. Shipping nov 22nd
Dude nice, I'm joking the navy I leave in 6 weeks
I leave November 22nd as well!
I need 13 more credits to get to 45 college credits. Should I finish those first so I can have more benefits in the AF or just come as is? Would it be that much more beneficial for me to do that?

+Ramal Bell thank you
what's your Snapchat ?
pual valequez wtf creep😂
+Kyler Yake down
can you do a video on how in shape basic training made you? like a before and after experience fitness wise
i went through basic, i didnt gain nor lose weight but my waistline decreased.
The ref I was 119 ibs in navy bootcamp. When I got out I was 199 ibs. When I went to my A school (training) I gained 30 ibs in 2 months.
Quick question, if I decided to commission as a pilot does my bachelors degree have to be scientific such as a engineering degree??
The Air Force Reserve gives the best of both worlds
So can you get your ba while in enlisted then go as an officer?
hey wby Im shipping out as open mech pretty soon and I want to put a few flightline jobs on my list because I always wanted to work on planes but when I lookup reviews of these jobs all I see is negative feedback..im usually not the type of person to let others peoples opinions affect mine but whats your input on this
Has anyone been in the Air Force and paid to attend a community college ?
100% of them
Tom English so the college and classes airmen will attend are the same ones civilians will attend ?
Yea sure why not. Every airman is enroll into the CCAF (community college of the air force) sames classes and transfers to university and stuff. How can you get your doctorate degree for free? I am wondering how is that possible
I went to college for two years! Got up to 52 credits dept free and I'm joining the navy I leave in 6 weeks I'll be enlisting as an E3
Daley Radford What's it like
I have a question , I want to become a pilot in the USAF . That requires a bachelor degree . How do I enter a college while in the military .
Rudy Fardon It's best to do AFROTC in college or go to the academy if you want to become a pilot because like half of all pilots are from the academy and a little under half is from AFROTC. The rest are those who go through OTS, which is a very small percentage
wait did you say that in the air force academy all your classes are gonna be online?
so what about the rank promotions?
Can you get promoted if your in civil air patrol in jrotc? I am a Master Sergent in cap and I was wonder ING if I would get promoted in jrotc using that.
yea

Keith it's not to late, call your main student loan provider and ask them about federal student loan forgiveness. what it is, is you gotta make 120 qualifying payments and they wipe the debt clean. The only catch is you have to be in the military for 10 years.
+Kris Strong no i mean i wouldve GONE to college first :p no biggie tho, military will pay for my tuition
youre an aircraft mechanic?! what is your specific job name?
for military spouses do they pay for there college as well, or any financial support?
You can switch your GI bill to a spouse or dependent, but I don't think anything else
Is it necessary to get an internship while I'm in college if I'm going into the Air Force?
Artieficial yeah, it’s looks good, get some work experience, and being a veteran would look very good on top of a college degree
At what rank will you be allow to live off base at the government expense?
Senior Airman.
also could be airman or a1c but only if youre married
Ariel Hicks In the Navy, it's a E-5 or if you have been in for 4 years at E-4.
Very helpful video thanks
hey T u have ur priorities scrambled: getting ur degree is last!!!!!! u should have a problem getting a job! and Blue Y, i highly discourage this collaboration, don't dumb down man! u r obviously ambitious and driven
This is a no brainer. Air force for sure. Only if you are in the 30% of people who qualify.
WBY!! Would it be okay if I ask you questions through Snapchat? I just added you a few days ago and I was wondering if it would be okay to ask you questions?
Btw, I saw the SC of this video of you being bored while editing haha xD Funny shit, bro!
+La Haus sure you can ask me questions on snapchat
when do you become a warrior
Tom Burgess in the Airforce? Never
When you say college are you speaking of ROTC❓❓❓
College in general
thank you
I think we should also note that this is from the few of active duty . I'm in the Reserves, and I am also in the military. It is possible to do both
Keep a lookout on my channel, I'm gonna be posting more recent enlistment process of joining the air force!
more collabs

Isaiah Borum cool story, you thought long and hard about that clapback👌🏾
I'm retired but never been to a VA hospital. I get my care from a kick ass medical facility.
Depends on what field you go into. And in College you end up as a debt slave trying to pay off student loans.

Very disrespectful to wear earrings while wearing a USAF t-shirt. Leave earrings for little girls, come on. You're a grown up man I assume.
