    I have the BTs version on stable speaker stands, connected to a 10” powered sub, hard wired to my iPad via the Apple dongle DAC into the Line 1 RCA input, playing ALAC files (ripped from CDs) and Spotify. This is my main personal music system, set up in my medium sized bedroom with soft furniture.
    Speakers are placed “optimally” (I watched a number of TH-cam videos on this subject), toe in adjusted for good soundstage. Very, very nice sound! I’m no audiophile, but I’m pretty pleased 😊
    My advice for these is to spend time on speaker placement and do the “sub crawl”; you will be well rewarded for this effort.

      Thanks for sharing your sweet setup, Jay! I'm sure a lot of Apple users will find this useful. Cheers and thanks for watching!

      so without sub is the bass good? or do you feel like you need sub?

    • @gearupaaron
      @gearupaaron  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Depends on how much bass you need. I find it good enough without it, but a sub definitely helps.

      I have 1855db, what do you mean by "sub crawl"

    • @roberthudson4440
      @roberthudson4440 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You put the sub in your listening chair and then crawl around on the floor to see where it sounds best. Sounds odd, but it is simply a way to reverse engineer the best placement for the sub. It works every time.

  • @GoufinAround_
    @GoufinAround_ 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    One thing to change is your title. This is the R1700BTs which is different from the BT. The BT doesn't have an output for a sub and is older and lacks some of the features. Both are available too

      Thanks for the heads-up... I did initially script it that way (with an 's'), but totally ignored it afterwards 🙄 Thanks for watching this!

Worse, the bluetooth takes priority, so suddenly I'm listening to weird music or phone calls through my speakers. I'm getting rid of them as there is no way to override this.

    Buyers BE AWARE of the bass situation. Initially I thought the same "the bass could use a bit more kick" until I noticed that instruments were completely missing with some songs due to the lack of bass. For this I think they are useless without a subwoofer. I have can size speakers with tons of bass, ok not for audiophiles but even my macbook has more bass than these speakers.
