My controller went bad on my 1070. I was still under warranty.. I may try to clean up the old one and keep it as a backup should it go out after the warranty is up… thanks for the video
Great video man! I really like how you explain everything in detail. My dad's grill broke yesterday, and I diagnosed it as a bad button for the temp control with your help! Just gotta get the parts after Christmas haha. Thank you and keep up the great work!
@@beccacardwell6743 I'm no expert on these, but I found this in Google. It states it's either a power failure or an overheat code depending on the grill you have. I'm assuming you've done the reset based on what you said, so maybe a power delivery issue? I would try a different power outlet that's not tied to the one you're using or run a different extension cord to a different outlet on a different circuit. If it's the older one and it thinks it's over heating, my guess would be a bad/biased temperature sensor, but I'm not sure where there located or if you can replace them. Might be something you can get from the manufacturer directly. 1. Press the power button to clear the code and turn on the grill. Does not advise turning off the grill by unplugging it. Please press the power button and allow your grill to switch off properly as recommended in the user manual. 2. If the grill is tripping your breaker or GFCI outlet, check the power source if it is working or not. 3. Check to see if the GFI Switch or Breaker is flipped 4. Check extension cords and outlet. If there is a problem with the extension cord or outlet, buy a new extension cord and outlet. *If you are using a previous generation REC TEC brand model without WiFi, it is the other way around, the ER-1 error code means that the grill is overheating.
Is this by chance a vertical controller instead of a horizontal mounted one? If so, I have seen one that is a really early version and the power button would not clear the Er1 error. Most of these will, but on this old one I had to cycle the power to the controller. Of course the Temp issue must be corrected before it will truly clear. I have a more recent repair video on that older controller repairing the ribbon flex cable and I do discuss this and the ohm readings or range so you can check your RTD as well. Hope it helps! th-cam.com/video/SfXvj8pfLTs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ovtDEY7LvUn4vytM

Will this help if it's leaking current to the auger
I doubt it. It may be either the triac or triac control optocoupler if the auger is turning all the time.
