Sometimes I think about the real Emily Dickinson and Sue Gilbert. Imagine life as it was in the 1800s. Women were oppressed and didn’t have the luxuries that we do now. Imagine the lives they lived. Wanting to do more and be more, but never being able too. Imagine having so much love for someone and never truly being able to give it to them fully. Just imagine their lives in that society. It breaks my heart to know that they couldn’t do the things we can now, especially love each other openly and fully. At least, they new the meaning of love and felt it close to each other. Sometimes knowing love is enough.
