The fact that you kept going and finished it through pain is even more brilliant than the sub 60. Incredible feat, girl, truly inspiring. Keep rocking!
this is so beautiful lucy. i am so so so inspired by you. i’m 17 (newly!) and i had to quit rowing, a sport that i loved so much, because of mental stuff with it. i’ve been lifting and running on my own since i left in february, and i found your channel recently. i was thinking of ironmans someday before, but now i definitely want to aim for a hyrox as well. you are such an inspiration in showing how you can fall and get back up and be excited for the next challenge. keep it going and never stop. 💗💗💗
Congrats Lucy you were incredible!! 👏👏 I understand being pissed about the situation, but like many here have said, you still pushed through and finished. Not a lot of people can do that. Praying for a speedy recovery and I can’t wait to see your journey on the next race 🫶🏻
So proud of you and happy for you! I wanted to cry when that happened to your hand/arm dude. Life is always filled with surprises- handled it like a champ. Thanks for sharing with us
Very inspiring, I think it is just as important to acknowledge when things don't go as you hoped than when they do, particularly as you had put some much effort into the training. Huge congrats on such a determined effort, and look forward to seeing what you get up to in 2025
Lucy I love your videos, you are truly amazing and inspiring :) and usually I agree with your message of doing hard things and not quitting :). However I find it a bit problematic to encourage people to continue pushing through injuries. Long-term health should be more important than finishing an (amateur) race. Everyone stay safe and have fun competing 🫶!!
I wholeheartedly agree that you should never push yourself to injury, and I have noticed that there has been an influx of this toxic hyper-disciplined mindset encouraged across social media sites over the recent years. I've been a victim to it myself and can verify it becomes very unhealthy very quickly. There no longer seems to be an emphasis on the beauty of slowing down and taking in the small magic parts of life (and without it always being made into an Instagram reel, lol!). Instead, this gets dampened by the perpetual goals of "i need to get better/faster/stronger/never good enough etc etc." mindset, and we miss out/forget about those times we slowed down in-between to appreciate the little things, whether that revolves around fitness or not. It's depressing to see this trend, especially in young people who I think are particularly vulnerable to getting wrapped up in this never-ending cycle. I know Lucy herself has spoken candidly about this on her social media accounts several times: she finds it hard to sit in her proud moments before swiftly moving on to another mammoth challenge (even more insane than the last!). Personality and your core values of course play a huge role in this but, as mentioned, it's vital to take breaks from being so goal-orientated 24/7 to just soak it all up, and Lucy has evidenced this, particularly after The Speed Project. In fact, I would really recommend listening to the 9 Lives Podcast by Cassia Tierney Clarke (she also did a podcast with Lucy herself, which I highly recommend!). Her most recent episode (S3,E1) talks about her battle with burnout from pushing her mind and body to the limits just to try and 'catch up' with the fitness influencers around her. The pressure she ultimately put on herself to constantly chase achievements and medals was detrimental to her health, which she is still facing now 7 months later. It's a fascinating episode and made me re-evaluate how I've been perceiving my own fitness journey and future goals. Really opens your eyes to the repercussions of hard work ≠ success and, most importantly, happiness. Anyway, I digress, as Lucy replied below, I can understand she didn't realise she had an actual diagnosed injury, never mind the extent of it, and had documented her rigorous (insane) training block to thousands of us. It would be hard (& extremely dispiriting) to quit there and then so I understand the reasoning in this case, for sure. I will say, your comment calling it an Amateur race? (in a pro event??) makes me think of that Adele meme: "I dunno what you mean by that, babes." Definitely not something the average person could do (probably ever) in their lifetime, but hey-ho😅 Apologies for the essay comment. I doubt anyone will read it, but this comment really got me thinking deep, and it was cathartic to share my view on it all :)
❤❤❤❤ U smashed it! With an injury and still kept going. Biggest inspiration to all! Seriously give yourself grace! Queen Lucy!!! We are proud of you... 💪
you should be so proud of yourself!!! you pushed through it and got it done, you are literally super human!!☺ your my biggest hero, and one day I hope to be as amazing and talented as your are❤, I can imagine how many people look up to you and feel inspired by all the amazing things you do and how much you motivate people to get out there and achieve all the fitness goals that they want to achieve. your one of a kind🥺💗💗
Lucy wow, like I just can say wow. When I saw you with the kettles I start screaming. I never scream like this to a video. I admire you very much, your physical and mental strenght are incredibles.
Lucy - I've said this before, but I'm so, so, so freaking proud of you! You've faced so many challenges over the past couple of months and during race weekend, and you overcame them all. It might not have been the time you wanted, but what it did was ignite that fire inside you even more-preparing you for what could be your biggest, boldest, and wildest year yet. 2025 is going to be wild and transformative, and I’m freaking excited for you!!
You dug deep even in the pain!!!You know how many other individuals may have given up?!?! You are a #Warrior .... You will heal up and then get back in there and be better than the last time.
I just saw your video when you came to Texas to visit the BPN guys. I recognized the spot where you and Nick were running. That's practically in my backyard!!! Anyways love your attitude and work ethic!!! Let's GO!!!!
Your allowed to be disappointed and use it as fuel to your fire for your next race! You only learn and grow by failing (if you can call that failing) it’s just shit when it happens but it will help you in the future ❤❤
You can be super proud! But I get the feeling. I did my first Hyrox and Solo in Open Class. It was really hard. I was hoping on getting under 1:30, but I got 1:38, when during the race I noticed, I got so upset. But my friends were 10/10 supportive. And the most important part was, that I finished🥹
Great effort. I'd never offer advice to someone i don't know. I understand very well that its difficult to quit a race (and somehting I've never done), but if it was me I'd have thought seriously about quitting, especially if you have more races coming up. Probably delayed your recovery by a fair bit. Best of luck, I think you are brilliant, so do my girls.
Good job Lucy you gave all you got this race. You will do better on the next race, and I don't know you train your forearms or not, forearm training will be your best friend holding the kettlebells. I train them once or twice a week helps my grip on deadlifts pulling close to 700 lbs.
OMGgggggg Lucy this video almost made me cry!! I feel you - on a smaller scale ofc 😂 - but there's nothing quite like feeling so ready for a race and then being limited by an injury. Back in September, I had my first ultramarathon trail race (50k) that I'd trained for all summer. I was athletically super ready but 2 weeks out I bombed a downhill too hard during training and messed up my knee. I was gutted but thought that over the next 2 weeks the swelling would go down and I would be fine (no way I could mess up months of training with one bad run....) Long story short, about 18km into the race, my IT band flared up so viciously I could barely take another step. It was definitely a rollercoaster from there on but I did not quit. I limped the whole rest of the way and actually thought of you quite a lot throughout. Anyways, it did not go half as well as I'd hoped to (I'd aimed to finish it in ~5hrs, it took me 7.5...) but it was such a life-changing experience, from battling that kind of pain and pushing through it for hours, to the people who helped me along the way. I don't mean to keep rambling but you are an absolute inspiration to me and it's almost more in watching you face challenges like this that you remind me (and everyone else watching) how strong and powerful we can be if we just. don't. quit. 🙃 I hope you have a smooth and speedy recovery and don't beat yourself up over this. The way I think of it is, if we don't occasionally fail, then we aren't working at a high enough level to grow. It's all part of the journey 💕 (I'm sure you know it better than I though)
I'd like to note that I only kept pushing because the medics onsite told me that ITB syndrome does not cause permanent damage, it just hurts like a mf because that area is full of nerve endings!
I did get that Golfers-shit..... from doing a shitload of pullups.... it just shutsdown my grip...got myself a Rehband wrap for that but still it takes time to heal..... Lucy your look like a Marvel superhero, thats body and the energy makes you sparkle.... you will get that WR.....🔥
I wonder about the cross-applicability to jiu jitsu - looks like it could be good! I reckon I'll get bored of the airbike, dumbbells and kettlebells eventually
Experiment with not hooking your thumbs under on the rowing handle (and don’t hold the handle tight at all) and it might save your grip for a few more seconds on the FC Your erg times are 😮
great job 👏🏻 but lets remember: Things take time. We cannot have everything at once - we are getting so used to people seemingly just accomplishing goals within weeks. No, most things take a lot of time & there is no rush at all. Just take your time and don’t do too much while injured 🫣 it’s your first solo pro race…..
The fact that you kept going and finished it through pain is even more brilliant than the sub 60. Incredible feat, girl, truly inspiring. Keep rocking!
Holy SHIT! I can’t believe you carried on 💪🏼👏🏻

Biggest victory of your career so far right there. Champions over come adversity and you did that. Takes bollox. Well done 👏👏👏

yes lately it just seems like everyone wants to achieve new goals so quickly and regardless of negative consequences 🫣

We didn’t know what had happened so I wasn’t going to quit ☺️

Lucy coming to cheer you in after she had finished 🥲 unreal effort!! Pushing on through that is INCREDIBLE 💪💖
Crazy inspiring. I torn my ucl partially and even being partial I could not even think about carrying that thing.

Lady, you are a warrior! Most people would have thrown in the towel and walked away! Bring on 2025, you’ll crush it! 🎉
Great work, Lucy!! 💪🏻 now the next one you have to do in your cowgirl boots…
In all seriousness, way to be a bad ass and endure! You’re an inspiration for so many of us
Love the grit
Good luck 👍
Good job Lucy 🙂
Injuries have a bad habit of popping up during the most stressful times, the body just doesn’t heal or recover as well. Good job for finishing Lucy
I love you so much Lucy 💗 😊
Still an impressive time. You are a hell of a runner. Sub 4min after the lunges
Yes Lucy what a race. To me pushing forward regardless of the injury is a winners mentality. Well done Lucy. Literal goosebumps watching that 💪🏻

Just curious, any particular for the grip choice on the sled push?
I have both golfer’s and tennis elbow (from basketball, ironically) and I know how much that hurts. Even picking up a plate is painful.
Take away: Dont quit... Will do
