    Just a tip for your followers about the buses Steve.....if you get the £21 Euro ticket it is for 7 days and includes all buses ...even night buses and you can use it over on Gozo too. Other wise individual journeys are £1.50 euro in winter, £2.00 Euro in summer and £3 Euro for the night bus. I highly recommend the weekly ticket....as it is a great way of seeing the island by bus!! Or you can buy the 12 single journey card for day use for £15Euro.....hope that helps xx

      yeah, but that doesn`t mean you`ll have buses passing by every 15 minutes. I was there at Christmas 2019 and I`m glad I hired a car. Very long queues at all the bus stops, not to mention at the most popular spots on the island. It sounds good but the reality may be another matter...

    • @EnglishmaninMalta
      @EnglishmaninMalta  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alanmichaelfarrell2003 yes alan its a thing i would not do. Hiring a car is always best if you have the money. But for budget travelers its a great option...it always baffles me why they do not put on extra buses on busy times and routes ..surely they would make more money !!

    @9:07 ~ 9:32. Gold, Steve, gold! You’ve a perfect grasp of the local linguistic/cultural nuances and colloquialism!! They’re saying, “you aren’t allowed, however as you look harmless and trustworthy and I’m a good fella and I’m having another good day, I’m going to look the other way. However....if you get caught....I know nuthin’, I see nuthin’ “. Classic Maltese officials.

    Oh I know and love this site, from now 8 times visits during a few years! Last time for 7 weeks til after, this New Year! And we do miss "our" little red cat which came every morning and sat waiting til we came out in the yard in, Danish owned, Mellieha Vacation Park! A really nice place to stay, I may add!

      @@EnglishmaninMalta Well both my wife and I have passed 72, so we have all the time left to be able to travel when we like it, and coming from mostly more "Cool" Denmark, we like to go down to the sun and the warm weather! So we hope to be able to come back again, when the present crisis has, hopefully mostly ended!!

    • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188
      @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did manage to go down a 9th time, but late Covid, Entrance trouble to Malta made it a not so fine experience, and because of a luggage-trouble, when going back (A bag too much filled on our plane) we missed our ordered Handicap Transport for my wife, when coming to Cph, and that also added to the cost!
      As now both 75 my wife don't like to travel that far any more, so I must admit that I hardly think we will come back again? And we sadly never found our cat again!!
      But still we fly directly down from Cph. with Faroese owned: Atlantic Airways, and a Danish speaking crew! They have an Official Representative on Malta, as the one, (Malta living) Danish Guide also have made a "Danish Speak" for the Airports loudspeakers, when we are to board our planes for our return flights. 😃

    My first experience of Malta was in July 1981(I got engaged at Santa Venera) and when I arrived with my then girlfriend (now my wife) and her family, it was at the old airport and 3 planes arrived one after the other and the 3 sets of passengers were all in the arrivals hall at the same time and we were crammed in, shoulder to shoulder, with sweat running off me with a couple of fans on the ceiling and and no aircon, with only 3 officials checking and stamping passports. Once through security, we had to wait for the bags to arrive. They were brought in, in wheeled cages and then they were offloaded onto benches for us to sort through. I am so glad that i don't have to go through that anymore. We never have any problems at Malta international airport, and everything seems to run so smoothly. I have probably been to Malta somewhere between 25 - 30 times now and always feel so relaxed there and it feels like my second home. We normally stay in Bugibba and my Maltese football team is Hamrun Spartans. My wife is Maltese and she came to England when she was around 4 years old in the late 60s. She was born in Saura St, Marsa in November 1964.

    Hi Steve, thanks for a great video. But greater thanks for warning foreigners and tourists about how dangerous driving in malta can be. I am a maltese living in the uk and whenever i visit malta i take extra caution when i walk on pavements, cross roads and drive. Traffic and driving regulations do exist in malta but some selfish drivers disregard completely. No wonder that malta has one of the highest (if not the highest) per capita road traffic accident rate in europe. So many senseless deaths of young people on maltese roads. Please Steve do not reply to my entry in case some sensitive soul gets upset. Keep up the good work!!!

      @EnglishmaninMalta  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have gone passed caring what some think or not think, I say as I find, it has improved greatly, but now with mobile phone users while driving , there are more problems, crossings are a place to take extra care, not always the pedestrian, sometimes thay are placed in poor positions, parked cars, poor lighting, there are a lot of factors, Malta's driving is more aggressive to many countries I have driven, really sadly to say its almost a must if you want to get out of junctions or get anywhere, i have been driving in malta from the 70s and theres a marked improvement, but also far more road rage , and far more cars on the road ....lol
