      Kusal Tharudeepa I'm teaching English in a private language school in Spain which didn't require a degree. It also didn't require a TEFL/ Celta qualification (perhaps some places do though, so maybe considering one of these is a good place to start- my tefl.org 120 hour online qualification wasn't highly expensive either). Online Tefl qualifications aren't the preferred option, a) TEFL is sometimes not as well regarded as CELTA and other more expensive qualifications and b) it's all online haha, no class practice. But to study grammar and show you've studied it, and general teaching knowledge, it's nice. Also consider volunteering in a local school as a classroom assistant, that will give you free experience to perhaps help you find a job. Best of luck! Just remember for this job a degree isn't necessary :) I have one in an unrelated subject, it hasn't served me much yet.

Madam can you help me to migrate to your country?????????? CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME FOR THAT....??? I Know it's hard but this is only a request.... and I like to do a invitation to you.... if you like to visit my country please let me to be your assistant :) Because I like to help other people to make their journey successful and I think it would be helpful to me to get the blessings of the God to fulfill my wish at least in my next anima ego :) again thnx for your advice madam :)

    I teach English in China and you're so right. I work 2 days a week and travel about 3 times a month (this month I'm hitting Hong Kong, Vietnam and Cambodia-catching up on your past vlogs for tips 😉). For the most part, Asia is so easy and cheap to travel, and side jobs are so easy to find here (and pay so much more than they would in the US). So it's ideal if you're both trying to save money and travel a lot.

      Choke the Label Amazing! What the procedure to come there and teach ? please suggest

    • @Lunamward
      @Lunamward 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Nadeem, a lot of jobs ask you to have a TEFL certificate--which you can get through classes. (Mine was offered through my university). However, some of my friends who teach here don't have them. You can find a job posted online-a lot of the bigger chain schools will post there. Otherwise, I know a lot of people who came here with a tourist visa and found a job/work visa while they were traveling China. Hope that helps!

    • @Lucas-qr7ul

      It seems cool but I believe native speakers are preferred in this kind of jobs...

    • @Lunamward
      @Lunamward 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's true--most ads will ask for native English speakers and some parents are really strict on it if you're tutoring personally. But, a ton of my friends who teach here are not native English speakers. I think for many companies as long as you are fluent you're fine. Also, while English may be the most common job, I often see jobs for tutors/teachers of other languages as well.

    Spent most of my working life as a musician on cruise ships and hotels. The better you are at reading music the more openings you will have. Depending on your status your port days are your own, sign up as a tour escort for the passenger tours and you get the best of all the ports, over night stop are a real bonus. Good luck.

    My mom worked on a cruise - Celebrity, which is Royal Caribbean's upscale brand. She said the same thing - they overwork you. You're "on the clock" almost 24 hours a day, and spend your day off sleeping all day.
    I am an engineer, so I don't know what it's like in other lines of work. But whenever I worked for companies that sent me on business trips, it was lots of overtime hours. One time, I got to work on a winery in California for a month. We were working 13 hour days, 6 days a week. Most people slept in their day off. On my days off, I drove to Yosemite, went cave rappeling, and hung out with friends in San Francisco and San Jose. Each of those places was a 2-3 hour drive from the winery, which was in the desert and miserably hot. But usually my trips were to places most people would never visit for fun. Rural Arkansas. Rural South Carolina (seriously, 20 minute drive to the nearest starbucks or mcdonalds). Actually, Arkansas seemed pretty cool. They were doing zombie 5k runs before anyone else. But I didn't really have time to do anything outside of work.

      HelloImElsa not true, I was an au pair in US for a year. Male au pair were highly needed there. A lot of parents realized that their kids need a male role model as well, while they usually have female teacher in school and in all after schools, father is working crazy hours, so he is seeing kiddos once a week or so. Long story short, there is a huge potential for male au pair in USA.

    In regards to picking up freelance work, I would caution people to make sure their visas allow it - For example, in the UK, if you get stamped in as a visitor (for 6 months), your stamp in your visa states that you are not allowed to work. This work includes volunteering, virtual work, and even stupid things like babysitting a friend's kids! Now, chances are you would never get caught....but some people are stupid (hah!) and when an immigration officer asks them "what are your plans while you are here" and you answer "I'm going to write for an online magazine", they're going to tell you nope. I vividly remember back in 2008 when Tim and I were just dating and I was active on forums that were basically designed to help Americans obtain UK visas (work, student, spousal, etc) there was a post from a girl in her early 20s who had been detained for 24 hours and then ultimately sent back to the US.....and the only reason was because she got flagged by the I/O (due to her age and length of time she wanted to stay) and when they searched her belongings, they found her paper diary where she had written in it "babysit for [boyfriend's sister]"...and even though she wasn't going to get paid and she was doing it as a favour....the I/O considered it "work". There also was a story recently about a young science writer who was coming to speak at a convention in the UK and she was denied at the border because she was going to be doing "Work". However, I do think many other countries are more lenient about that sort of thing.

    I got into traveling because of my last job. I was given the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia PA for a project my company was saddled with performing and I was asked to go...from South Dakota.
    Fast forward a bit, and at one time I was traveling 90% of my time, all over the USA, and LOVED IT! Then, the project ended, my manager passed away, and I was returned to the mild-mannered work of replacing keyboards.
    Now I have moved to another company where I literally make 30%more than before, I get "unlimited vacation" and travel about 20% of my time to the smaller towns in the USA, with a couple upcoming opportunities for overseas travel.
    This new position comes from being adaptable and growing off of the base skills learned in my previous line of work, and applying them to emergency management software, and the special tools used in law enforcement. While I don't get free reign on where I go, I always explore where I go and find something interesting.

    I worked on a cruise ship for while and loved it. For the most part its a set route till you change ships so it's not seeing much, but I loved it. I worked four hours in the morning I was off work for about four hours and worked the evenings. I got to see every port. We only had one super long day a week and it was Sunday

    I have taught in Korea, China and Taiwan. What you need to know is hours may be long and you probably won't get much time off. The advantage is that you get a full year visa. I see Choke had a very different experience in China than I did. It sounds like the visa requirements may have changed. Good reason to get different perspectives. I'll do a blog or vlog on this soon, since it seems like a popular topic.

    Good video. Three things I learned about teaching ESOL overseas: Avoid on-line TESOL courses like the plague. Many countries won't give you a visa if you have one, and many companies won't even consider you for employment if your degree was obtained on-line. Ditto for TESOL certs that are under 120 hours. (I’d go for 140 just to be safe.) Lastly, get a copy of Mark's English Grammar Shortcuts and MEMORIZE it. Saves a BOAT LOAD of headaches.

    Nonprofit organization work also allows a lot of travel if you get into the right ones as they tend to have multiple locations whether it's international or just within your own country. I've worked under a USA umbrella non-profit for a while and have been sent to various states for free and was able to easily find a few days of paid work at any local office when I go somewhere on my own. A friend of mine works with a youth hostel organization and she's traveled all over Europe, S. America, and various African countries with almost a guaranteed job wherever she goes. She does pay for most of the travel expenses herself though...

    Being a yachtee (yacht crew) is far better than working on a cruise ship. Also, they won't hire Americans for cruise ships cause no one in their right mind would work for those wages and terrible labor violations. Working for a student travel company seems like a great job. You are basically teacher and camp counselor in one. Requires a bachelors, pays low but ALL accommodations paid for.

    Some sales type work will get you paid travel if the company is trying to sell their product overseas.
    Tech installation/maintenance type jobs will take you to random places that need things installed.
    But you won't be choosing where you're going.
