You know that card making is a hobby, right? I have all these things, so do other people that are into card making. It's for beginners in the hobby. Would you get upset about a woodworker posting a "simple wooden box" and get angry because he used a saw, sandpaper and a hammer? "But a hammer costs $15, and I could buy a box for $5." Yeah, you could, but its for people to practice, and get good at. It's a hobby, just like any other hobby. Its not to own a card at the end, it's to be able to MAKE cards. For fun. I seriously dont understand how so many people don't get that. Painters have paint and paper. Model makers might have an airbrush and modeling glue. Card makers have stencils and stamps. I guess most people just don't know that it's a hobby? It's a simple DIY for card makers.

I mean the first time to get the tools sure. after that though all ya need is the card stock, and occasionally some ink. Doesnt change that its entirely to much work for something that most people i would give a card to are going to toss after reading it however.
But there's no joy comparable to doing this all by yourself, taking your time indulging into it, such a great way of passing time while if you have nothing left to do 😅

My easy birthday card as a kid was a A4 piece of paper folder in half, with happy birthday messily drawn on the front with some love hearts and stars. And a hand written note inside. This isn’t easy 😂
I would fold a piece of paper in half, and then cut a line half way through the centre crease, then fold it in so that it became a pop up when you opened the card, and I would draw a different weird face or animal on it every year like that part was the mouth and it would look like it was saying stuff when you flapped the paper open and shut cuz I was creative as f*ck as a kid y’all lol 😂
oh man so much craftsmanship.. precision and detail.. all for something i wouldn't even use as scrap paper to scribble a random number on during a phone call
I wouldn’t really consider that easy, but what I do is, I go to the dollar store and get double sided tape, I have some leftover card stock that I’d like to use to do a outer and inner layer and then I put another smaller piece on top of the inside layer everything is glued down and then I fold it all in half. Any other features on the card are usually hand-drawn.

Simon has really taken the stamping concept to another dimension by having the background stamps come in 3 pieces allowing us to stamp as much or as little as we wish. Love it.
Oh this takes me back. When I was little and before my mom had to get a job again, she had a hobby out of scrapbooking and card-making. I loved looking through the stamps, the patterned papers, the ribbons, the fancy shaped scissors, and all manor of supplies she had!
I like how everyone's talking about how this is "easy" when it actually is. You don't need all of those special tools, you can do everything by hand, like I do.

This is so satisfying to watch. When I was a kid, my stepmom did scrapbooking and had all kinds of cool stamps, glitter, etc., like this, and would have us make cool thank you cards for every present we got for our birthdays and Christmas, and we would hand-write each one. I wish personalized cards were a thing again. I love getting mail, and there's something nice about creating and sending or receiving personalized cards for holidays or for saying "thank you", "get well", etc.
i feel like if you’re gonna make a handmade birthday card it has to look handmade to be nice and genuine, if you go out of your way to make gradients and perfect pre made prints it’s gonna feel like a store bought birthday card ☹️

I believe that with a little instruction that a clever person having the right tools can do many things. I've seen those clear stencils at the craft store and thought that you needed a special machine to use them.
Its so perfect that it doesn't look like a DIY product anymore. And including cleaning all the tools it probably takes more time than just drawing and painting it by hand ... 😅

I will continue to use printer paper and Crayola markers. My mom loved them when I was five, and she still loves them now that I'm an adult.
