Thanks for watching! These types of shoulder season trips really put into perspective how important it is to have a game plan before going into the backcountry...as well as a plan B, C and D. Let's all stay safe out there and respect these amazing places!
That turn around mood Dave pulls off at 29:20 is pure gold. That is the look of a man that shoulda only burned a halfer but forgot to put it out and burned the whole thing. I know that look well.
Oh man that was fun. A ballsy creek crossing. We could feel the satisfaction of making it to the cabin, especially after that night in close quarters. Some great terminology in this one like "scream barfing."
Scream barfing was coined from screaming barfies which is a term used for when your hands warm up after being extremely cold and it hurts so much that you want to scream and barf at the same time. Also learned this one from Mr. Greene ha
I am from Ingonish and I have been in the highlands throughout the year. I have seen it snow every month of the year. Had my dad fishing on July 4 and we had 6" of snow. Staying dry is important. Good trip. Thank you and have fun.
What a spot. So awesome that there’s people that will put places like that for others to use. Makes you really want to leave it better than you found it out of gratitude. Awesome trip boys. Stay safe!
Although I've lived my80 years in Ontario, Cape Breton is one of my favourite places. Especially the west shore on the Northumberland Strait. Great people & wonderful beaches. Thanks for the reminder. Stay Safe & thanks Brian 80
Just had to rewatch this from a year ago! Would love to do this trip. Unfortunately those days are over for me... In my younger years I did many trips like this in the backwoods of Guysborough County, staying in old cabins or building lean-tos to sleep through a winter night!
You captured our motel at the beginning where the sign welcomes you to the Cabot Trail the second you turned off the main hwy..... come stay with us on your next trip 😁 We would love to meet Osa!
I stayed at a motel outside old orchard Beach and don't regret it. It was family owned so it was really well decorated and stocked. My room even had 2 recliners. Place was spotless and I got to watch a hot air balloon take off from their front lawn.
And to think someone hauled all the stuff out there to build that cabin and a wood stove, it was a haul just to walk back there. Thats badass for whoever did it.
That was the best film I’ve seen in awhile! Great job guys! I hope the cabin builders get to see this and how much it was appreciated. Im sure they’re great Cape Bretoners!
That was a tough one Noah! Awesome. The trip in itself looks challenging, but filming the whole thing takes determination. Thank you for another great adventure.
I stayed in the older cabin up there with some friends back in the early 90's. Nice to see they built a new one. Never went all the way to the Franey trail on our trip though. Just up to the cabin and spent a week there and back down the hill. Great journey. 👍
Great video showing what can really happen on a trip. It is hard to plan on all that happened to you guys. Love the duck tape fix. Now go out and buy some new pants. When we left our cabin for the winter we always left it stocked with wood and food and warm blankets just in case some one needed help.
Really enjoyed watching this. I am a three season camper and now I know why! I would much rather be an armchair adventurer on these winter treks. Props to you three for pulling this off though, that looked pretty tough at times. But that makes stories even better after the trip is over.
Awesome trip guys. You have to like the weather in Nova Scotia. Give it 10 minutes and it will change. Thanks for taking along with you guys. Have a great 2021 and I'm looking forward to more adventures. Cheers 👌
Cool video, great trip. I watched the video while cycling on the home bike... and with you guys, I could cycle longer than ever bevore. (I started cycling at 7.1. at home office, to break a little bit my day)
Great work. Those creek crossings in cold weather are not fun but part of the experience. Back in Alaska we had similar freezing cold crossings in spring and summer. Freaky as it sounds, we typically stripped down, put on sandals we bring for the purpose, and gut it out. Cold wet legs and feet are better than cold wet clothes, socks, legs, and feet.
your river crossing on the way in was sketchy. the cabin looked strong. the music you played at @35:00 was kinda spooky. wow that hike out was dicey! glad you guys made it out ok. what a relief!
wow what horrible weather you guy's and dog had to deal with some tough cookies you are . as is the dog, love the cabin how nice . nice adventure loved it Sue , Ontario
Oh my God. Peanut butter and jelly and butter baked in bacon grease! That has got to be heaven, and full of hiking energy. Wow. I can't wait to make my first one.
Hey guys, Impressive hike!!! I live on an acreage in the Highlands and never go into the forest in winter, so was very cool to see. I was also super impressed with the cabin, cheers to the people that made that happen, good on ya.
Great video!...must have been hard to leave that nice comfy cabin and head out into more horrible conditions! .... thanks for sharing and stay safe guys.
Awesome trip guys . Can’t wait to get back in there again, been through from chetticamp lake and Benjies lake but haven’t been out the Frany trail yet . Still a A frame camp at junction of Sunday lake , no door or stove but sure was nice in hail storm .
You guys had to have heard sounds that you couldn't explain.....thats sasquatch territory. Beautiful, amazing video guys....love to do something like that.
I’ve only been there in the summer but I do remember the heaviest rainfall I’ve been in back in the 1960s as a kid. My Dad and I were fishing and we got soaked even with rain gear. I’ve been to a few jungle places that came close, but Cape Breton rain still holds first place for a downpour in my 70 years.
Unbelievable to find a quality cabin out there....Awesome trip....am waiting for the chance to come up and explore a bit of NS. Oso is so chill...lol Nothing is worse than getting wet...
You should come visit the east coast of NL. We've got way more tuckamore (low scrubby spruce) and the weather is at least as bad! The scenery is worth it though.
Wow guys o yeah you did mention your names at the beginning I just forgot them all sorry. But I watch a lot of outdoor survivalist documentories this is by far top 5 on my list and then science where the long hair heshan put bacon on the baked peanut butter sandwich with his expretion after he ate it was hilariously priceless . thanks to all three of you guys .
Another stream crossing technique: 2 people, one faces upstream and one down, with arms locked. Move 1 foot at a time. Shoes on but no socks or pants so they’re dry on the other side. Worked really well in a flooded stream with strong current/heavy packs. Love your videos!😊
This trip is hardcore, and the persistence you guys show is impressive. The dog, she looks kind of a Swedish Elkhound? Thank you for sharing, this was a great one!
Thanks for watching! These types of shoulder season trips really put into perspective how important it is to have a game plan before going into the backcountry...as well as a plan B, C and D. Let's all stay safe out there and respect these amazing places!
You're welcomed.
Dogs like, “no thanks, I’ll stay in the truck!”
That turn around mood Dave pulls off at 29:20 is pure gold. That is the look of a man that shoulda only burned a halfer but forgot to put it out and burned the whole thing. I know that look well.
Dude looks like he’s not even in the same time zone as the rest of us lmaooo
Lol 😂 I skipped ahead to this timestamp to see what this was all about . He is blitzed 😅
There's a fine line between challenging and foolhardy. I'm a fan. Be careful.

We call it Swinter here in New England. The cold with rain can be a real show stopper. Glad you guys made it out safe. 2021 will be better!!
That was an epic trip men! Seeing the cabin and it's condition was like discovering the Ritz Carlton!
You all certainly have earned my like and sub. I'm born and raised in Cape Breton and have never been to White Hill. Absolutely amazing video guys!!!!
What a great way to end the year. Thanks for sharing the beauty, hardships, and joy of adventure.
I am from Ingonish and I have been in the highlands throughout the year. I have seen it snow every month of the year. Had my dad fishing on July 4 and we had 6" of snow. Staying dry is important. Good trip. Thank you and have fun.
From baddeck live in st Ann’s.

Just had to rewatch this from a year ago! Would love to do this trip. Unfortunately those days are over for me... In my younger years I did many trips like this in the backwoods of Guysborough County, staying in old cabins or building lean-tos to sleep through a winter night!
Awesome Guys..... beautiful beautiful beautiful country ! Keep the videos coming Noah. Much appreciated.

One thing I love about your channel is that you keep it raw and real.
And to think someone hauled all the stuff out there to build that cabin and a wood stove, it was a haul just to walk back there. Thats badass for whoever did it.
You guys are awesome. I would have been able to make it, but then I’m 71. Thanks for sharing.

That was the best film I’ve seen in awhile! Great job guys! I hope the cabin builders get to see this and how much it was appreciated. Im sure they’re great Cape Bretoners!
Loved the look of the barren landscape. You even had the hound of the Baskerville with you. Well done Osa. Huge efforts by all.
That was a tough one Noah! Awesome. The trip in itself looks challenging, but filming the whole thing takes determination. Thank you for another great adventure.

This is one of the very best outdoor channels on TH-cam.

Mad respect. That was an epic adventure.
You guys make every journey an exciting adventure keep up the good times.
Really enjoyed watching this. I am a three season camper and now I know why! I would much rather be an armchair adventurer on these winter treks. Props to you three for pulling this off though, that looked pretty tough at times. But that makes stories even better after the trip is over.

best video and adventure so far that I've seen.
Best editing ever. Definitive for backcountry tripping. Again, I would have never left the cabin. Call a helicopter!
Cool video, great trip. I watched the video while cycling on the home bike... and with you guys, I could cycle longer than ever bevore. (I started cycling at 7.1. at home office, to break a little bit my day)
Wow.... a truly barren plateau - tricky conditions. Thank you for posting - truly great entertainment & videography 👏👏👏👏🙏

I live the st Ann’s area. Originally from baddeck. The highlands are awesome especially if you ski-doo
Very cool guys, it hasn't been a great winter for this type of thing. must have been challenging.
After that , the truck heater is full hot for the rest of the trip. Good job , thank’s for sharing .

Awesome! Good riddance 2020! Looking forward to adventures in 2021. Be well, everyone!
Wow, what an epic trip. I wish there were places like that in the SE US. Thanks for the extra effort on the videography.
great video. Very well filmed - liked it a lot!
you're opening scene is how I know I am home, 13 times I have driven this great country and that is my favorite sight.
I really enjoyed this TRIP! Again your music picks are really great (Here from Atlanta GA. US.)
You guys had to have heard sounds that you couldn't explain.....thats sasquatch territory.
Beautiful, amazing video guys....love to do something like that.
I don’t like the rain in the winter and we get a lot of it here in Cape Breton. Great video

That's for sure! But it applies to many places around NL too. Some great tuckamore on the west coast. And yes, the scenery is certainly worth it.
They did an epic journey across NL. Paddle trip. Was crazy good.
I would love to visit Nova Scotia such beautiful country.... Do you know bad Chad??
Did they mention what mountain they were climbing? Amazing trip!
Wow guys o yeah you did mention your names at the beginning I just forgot them all sorry. Best video yet, well done.
Another amazing video, Noah. Now I know it’s been a mild winter but a pants off dance off winter?? Not that warm! LOL. Nice work fellas!
Had to bring the New Year in with a bang! No pants style.
Excellent episode, very enjoyable.
Great video guys! Looks like a good hard trip with a lot of satisfaction!
