As someone who works a forty hour week, not being able to see my island in daylight for the first month of playing was so depressing, I started time travelling by a few hours so I could actually even play. No regrets.
Same! I didn’t even know time travelling was an option at first, so I just thought the game was shit. Then I found out about it and completely rediscovered it and now love it!

People who care about what other players do in a noncompetative mostly single player game have way too much time on their hands. People wanna time travel then cool if not also fine. And people that actively insult and hate on the way other players play are the definition of pathetic

One thing I don't understand is "TT finishes the game faster" when does the game end to you?? For most people it isn't the credit sequence, that's when the game really starts and everything is finally open to you. Is it when you deck out your home? Get 5 stars? Get best friend status with your entire island? My point is that just like time travelling allows you to experience the game at your own pace, you control the end goal. If you stopped playing because you couldn't find anything to do, it isn't because time travelling shortened the lifespan of your game, but because you didn't know where your endgoal was. This game is incredibly open ended, so you can really pick and choose where to end, it's all about setting goals and the satisfaction of completing them, if you complete every goal you had why are you unsatisfied? Did you not set enough goals for yourself?
Also, people who think time travelling ruins an accomplishment or something... Not playing for 6 hours isn't an accomplishment. Waiting for a building to be crafted isn't an accomplishment... But most importantly, I still have to craft the items, talk to my villagers, and terraform my land bit by bit just like everyone else? What did you do that I didn't?
@Mia Young you're forgetting getting all the items, clothes, and hitting 5 stars. Even than I've redesigned my island twice already, and both times they were sitting at 5 stars and I just got inspired for new areas
I time travel a lot. For me personally, as rewarding as it can feel being patient, sometimes it can feel equally as annoying and tedious. I’ve still put an insane amount of time into the game, and am always finding new projects to do. TT has honestly made it a more enjoyable experience for me.
I agree. Sometimes I just don’t have time the next day or forgot about things and just rather do in one sitting as opposed to waiting for the next day.
I agree with you that you should play how you like but I do believe the right way to play is to play day by day. I think they intended this so you can enjoy the game as long as possible

I almost felt forced to time travel when it comes to the art museum. Redd only coming like once a month and there being 70 pieces to collect? Yet without time traveling or trading you could fill the fossils within less than a season... But the art would take literal years.
Yesterday I had him for the second time, he came once a week or two ago and I got my museum upgrade, but what the sad thing is, is that when he came yesterday I forgot to click “let me take a closer look” and accidentally bought the fake Quaint Painting

I work 12 hour nights. When I get home, I can barely shower, much less play games, so I time travel so I don't miss things, like the candy for Halloween. I work 2 days, travel to the first missed day, pick fossils and talk to people and buy, then move to the next day. I'm glad that for those of us with different lives, time travel is available.
I'd understand if it was a competitive multiplayer game, but this.. really doesn't have an impact on others- the most that'll happen is they get jealous, but the same happens for new players looking at the 5star island

just put the date to 2040, so you can still go back to your regular day without having received all the daily stuff (like projects, Nook items, and so) I only time travel once I've done everything, and then just check for projects. Animal Crossing is a really extensive game, so you can't really do EVERYTHING
@@Star_Pepo Yes, that's what I do, jump like 50 years into the future and spend some time doing all the daily tasks, but then when you come back to the present day, nothing is ruined and you still have your daily tasks to do every day. I did that at first to get villagers to move out, which worked great, and I liked it so now I keep doing it. It's a good way to just grind for materials without messing up the current time.
Tbh quarantine is getting me really bored, that I sometimes don’t wanna wait for something to be complete by tomorrow, so I only time travel for it lol but it’s just my way of doing things ig
I think the reason people keep getting mad at time travellers is because they compare their island with other islands too much. If you time travel you get things faster, which results into you being ahead and have more stuff than they do, getting the better villagers faster ect. Animal Crossing is such a unique game when it comes to pase. It's what's so beautiful about the game imo. It teaches people to slow down, to appreciate the little things and be in the moment. Heck in the older games it even used to be Resetti's job to tell you not to reset because you had to accept whatever you did that day. But we're so used to living in a world that is so fast, with such high expectations, everything has to be bigger and better all the time. It's understandable people start to compare more. It's really a shame tho. Everyone should just enjoy the game for themselves and not worry so much about other people. Wether you time travel or not.
I time travel because the only time I ever get to play is at night, when I'm at work during my downtime, so I change the time to daytime, or if I miss an event I go back and do it (that happened with the fish tourney, and I'm really glad I was still able to do it). So many people are stuck at home right now with loads of free time to play, but that's not me. I'm still working and it's third shift, which basically sucks, lol. But for real, people need to stop with the judging. Let people play they way they want to play. If someone doesn't want to wait for the mushroom DIYs, does it affect anyone else? Nope! Mind your business, thanks.

I agree with this and I mostly play at night and I will go back to the day to download a custom design from the able sisters so I can have something to I also mostly tt so I can have my villagers move out quicker so I can have to ones I want and so then I can go villager hunting and so my trees and greenery can grow quicker and then I can see if they fit well with my island
As a mom of an 11 month old, time traveling really helps me play when i can cause i cant just sit and play it whenever i want to. Id rather not TT but like i said i cant play as much as i want to.
The reason why the villagers you're more friendly with leave is because they all kind of have a gage of friendship that gets filled after you talk to that specific villager a lot. Once the gage is all filled up, (and you're at maximum friendship with that villager) they'll decide to leave. That's why your favorite villagers tend to leave while the ones you ignore stick around for longer.
Time traveling isn’t cheating. It’s a way to play the game without having to stop for the day/miss out because you have a nocturnal lifestyle. Most time travelers only move ahead one day at a time. We all have our preferences but playing via time traveling isn’t wrong or else Nintendo would’ve made it impossible to do so.
I mean it’s cheating at the game, it’s not a bad thing to say cheating. I think time travellers are fine, it’s a good way that people without patients can enjoy the game :)

Sometimes I do it just to screw around or to sell stuff at shops, sometimes to be able to buy the Abel sisters clothes etc. also it’s really easy too. I think people should just play however the heck they want because animal crossing is supposed to be a wholesome game solely based off of *you* being happy
Pro time travel tip if you don't want to travel in one day increments; time travel to 4:58 AM of the same day you are in, get the morning announcements, and boom, everything on the island is reset, and this does count for flower growth, I have tested it extensively. The game registers this as a new day, so you will get new fossil spawns, weed, rock and tree branch spawns and message in a bottle spawns. Also, if you have any special characters such as gulliver, celeste or Redd, this keeps the character in loop on your island and your are able to acquire new items each time. Hope this helps!
I time travel a lot, I chose Southern Hemisphere cause all my friends were Northern, so I basically helped my friends got their museum almost completed, though they have five stars and I'm still 3. 🤣

I wish more people would be more open like this to other people’s styles of playing. Someone time traveling has no effect on your own game. For me personally, I time travel as little as possible. The only things I ever really do are set my clock backwards, because I usually play later in the day, and sometimes go back if I miss a day so I don’t miss an important traveler. I like going backwards, but not forwards. The only time I ever went forwards was to move a few houses faster, lol

I just recently started time travelling and I see nothing wrong with it:/ personally, I used to not like the idea of it but once I started doing it, I started loving the game even more:) its easy to get burnt out from it but I fixed that with starting time travelling
Ive had acnh for a year and played nearly 200hours and thought thta was quite a lot but over 300 in a month.... i no longer question my choice to play acnh for 5 hours today lol
I dont care how people play since it doesnt affect my gameplay. In my defense for time traveling, I'm a very impatient person and I just cannot wait a full day for things to be built. I've never used it for money or furniture but I mostly use it for moving out villagers. It's just made gameplay better for me personally
Being mostly a time traveller, there are merits to getting a lot of tasks done just as you’ve said. This time around, there isn’t much backlash asides from the beware of rotting turnips and some of your in game progress may be lost if you turn back in time. For example, if you planned to have a camper move into your island and someone getting ready to move out. Then you time traveled back, that event didn’t happen at all. After you invite someone to replace a previous villager you need to play daily (or travel forward a day at a time) until your new villager is settled; if you travel back or skip a day (be it by travelling forward two days at a time or by simply not playing for a day) you could be stuck with a villager in the wrong house, and the only way to fix this is to kick that villager and invite him/her again.
I really like how you can do the night owl ordinance. I DO work all day, and I usually get home late, but now the shops are open a little longer and villagers stay up a little later so I can actually play when I get home lol.
I wish the creators considered a “night shift” mode for people who work and are on night shift. I’m never up before noon and had no clue I had been missing Daisy for months.

i never play the same game for years i get bored very fast, time travel helps for now and let me experience things i would never have seen without it because i know a 100% i would get bored with playing the game like its supposed to be played, sitting at 550+ hours atm ..
Also, there are duplication bugs in the game that, "ruin the in-game economy," and haven't been addressed yet, so I doubt time traveler's were the main cause of that change. Most likely a factor, but if nintendo wanted to strike the hammer and integrate a static clock into ACNH, they would have done so quite awhile ago.
I was debating doing that too, cause my birthdays tomorrow and I was hoping to get a switch and animal crossing for my birthday, I got my gift given to me at the beginning of May so it was a super early b-day present, but I don’t know if it will mess up my game if I travel back to Easter and the cherry blossoms event
Sure, I tt. However I don’t do it to get money and I typically don’t go past a day later. I really only use it to hurry up and move a building so I don’t have to wait that day, or because of nook shoppings 5 item per day limit. And I always travel back and sync it to my real time once I’m done. I can see both ways

When I started playing I said I wouldn’t time travel, however after starting terraforming I decided that it was much quicker to move buildings/bridges. That’s the only time I will time travel as I enjoy playing the game normally as it’s just a wonderful and peaceful game!
I just want to travel back in time because I missed most of the fall season (I even missed the Halloween event). I think I just want to set the time back to September so I can have what I missed and maybe keep my island permanently in the fall because it's my favorite season. Not to exploit the shops, fast-forward construction, or capitalize on interest.

More information about if you time travel: Your villiager will wake up with messy hair that they'll tidy it up back to the hairstyle they had before. Villagers only move out if they have a bubble above their head and you talk to them and choosing if they move out or not, meaning they'll NOT move out automatically like in new leaf. If you time travel too far then you may get one of the seasonal recipes early before the actual season comes. Also you can participate in new years early but you may feel bad for the choice you made since some of the NPCs that host some of the events are not in the game yet.
Agreed. I am glad they added casual to FE because it saves me a lot of effort of save scumming since I would be going back to the beginning of the level anyway, this just saves me a lot of time and frustration.
I’ve literally never time travelled. I don’t care that people do, it’s just never been natural to me. It’s always added to the tranquility of the game to take things slowly and I love being excited to see what’s different with each day, and with seasons! I love seeing the change in seasons ☺️
I started time travelling when I was like 5. I got easily bored in the game, so I skipped ahead and then set it back. Never looked back. I don't ont have new horizons yet, but in new leaf I'm in 2022

I only plan to time travel in Animal Crossing on Christmas because that's when I get my switch and only have a week to play before school starts again. I'd like to take it back a week so everything is set up and I can grind without having to worry about not having a house to store things or not having the museum.
i have ADHD and i time travel just so i can remember wtf i was doing. if i’m building an area of my island and i need to order items i go forward to collect them from my inbox and come back because if not i would wake up the next day to deliveries like wtf was i doing with these? same with moving buildings/building bridges and inclines. i’ve gotta strike while the inspiration is there bcs once it’s gone it’s never coming back and i’ll never remember what my plan was. also when a villager asks to move i’ve got to travel forward if i want a villager i actually like bcs if i waited for the empty plot day in real time i would completely forget and end up with chops or something. similarly with amiibo campers, there’s not a chance of me remembering to do it 3 days in a row so i time travel until the agree to move in and then return to real time. i never go forward to events, only back if i missed it because i couldn’t play that day or it slipped my mind that it was even happening. i completely agree with kora about the changing of seasons too. i love watching them change as they’re scheduled to so i always to manipulate what days i’m travelling to and from so i run ruin that fun for myself. i tried not to time travel for the longest time when i first got the game but i just ended up getting stressed and frustrated at myself. the ways my disability made the game hard were the same ways it makes my life hard and that just ruined the escapism of animal crossing and i gave up. i totally understand nintendo doing things to stop people time travelling to exploit elements of the game like bank interest and i like not travelling forward to events bcs we all experience them at the same time but if they were to somehow ban time travelling entirely i just wouldn’t be able to play the game anymore and that would be super sad bcs it’s been a huge rock for me recently. like kora says everyone plays the game differently and that’s what makes animal crossing great
I got the game quite recently. Like a month. And I was really against time traveling. But as I was playing I saw what other people have, like recepies and all the events I missed. So ive been time traveling to be able to experience those. I dont like time traveling to the future though. Just the past.
I’ve thought about doing it after seeing some of the cool things coming from other videos, but I’ve loved the organic experience of doing everything myself (even though it takes longer). I only time travel when trying to move buildings, and I mainly play towards the end of the day so I like to go back a few hours so I can do stuff. I did it a lot at the beginning because that's all I wanted to play and I ran out of things to do each day, I had a rule however that I was only allowed to go up to a week ahead and then go back so I didn't spoil the different seasons and stuff. But now I don't do it unless I wanna actually play during the day.
I’ve time traveled since the first animal crossing. To me it feels like a free to play game if I don’t. Like having to wait real time for a building to be built, etc. When NH first came out during the pandemic and everyone was playing, it was fun for me to let time go normally and kind of experience the game along with everyone. But pretty quickly I got bored of spending an hour every day doing what I could and then having nothing let to do. I wanted more! So I started changing the clock and never looked back. Like you said, who cares how anyone else wants to play? If you’re having fun with your game, that’s what matters. Good video as always❤
Honestly, this is why I have 1k+ hrs on Stardew versus my noob status on ACNH: because I felt *pressure* to play every day and guilt when I missed a day, as opposed to the in-game time set by Stardew. I may be scarred by previous Animal Crossing games where my favorite villagers (*sob* Purrl) moved away when I took a break, but I love how Stardew picks up whenever I do, and feel tempted to move the game forward on AC when I'm done with a day.
I'm 3 years late but this was well said especially the part about losing interest after finishing your house. I started New Leaf a few years after it came out because I fished and caught bugs on my brother's game. The very first night I stupidly time traveled so I could catch a full inventory and sell them and advanced to the next night. By the end of my first play session I had tens of millions of bells and had to do nothing but talk to Tom about expanding my house and pay off the loan the next day. In 2 weeks my house was maxed out, I had more bells than I could ever spend, and my desire to play the game had already greatly waned.

I think when it turns autumn I’m probably going to time travel so I can keep the look of the trees and grass. I then revert the time back to normal once events start.
My brother doesn't care about it very much so he let's me time travel on his console then I go 3 days at a time and collect between 100,000-350,000 bells by selling fruits that aren't from that island, I then give 35% of earnings to him and throw the rest on the ground to be collected at a later date. It takes about an hour opposed to a few minutes with other methods, luckily I have no life and am a very boring person. I have paid off every loan except the last one bc I refuse to act as though I will have that many exterior changes since all that does is make those free Ye idk what the purpose of this comment was..
My opinion is that the developers nerfed every single aspect of the game so much that it becomes frustrating to play. Why can I only place or demolish one incline or bridge at a time, and why does it take a whole day for it to be done? Only certain fish and bugs come out in specific times of the day. And special events are so fast and fleeting, if I wanna go to do the event (like the fishing tournament) I have to make sure to clear off my real life calendar. I don’t wanna work my life around a game... I want a game to work around my life. So I will always and forever time travel.
I once tried time traveling, I forgot how many years I traveled and I forgot why I did it, but when I went back my mail was stuffed with tons of things from mom like birthday cakes and other things from mom that I shouldn’t have gotten yet. I felt so guilty so I just hid them in my storage and never time traveled again. I regretted it
One reason I contemplated getting ac is because I didn’t want to just be “done” with it... by that I mean, having millions and millions of bells in the bank, thousands and thousands of nook miles, filling up my museum, having my dream villagers , etc. then I would probably bully myself into deleting my island... that’s why time travel seems kinda “meh” to me.. but if you like time traveling, that’s okay! You can play your way and I can play my way.
So with the Lockdown I wont use any time traveling since I got the time of day to enjoy the morning and afternoon hours of the game but once the world is more stable and i am back to work I will sort of time traveling but not day to day but by the hours just so I can exspireance the mornigns and afternoons that I wont beable to get. It wont be fun to play when its only dark outside.
I'm personally not a time traveler, but I do time travel when it's absolutely necessary (ex: accessing the able sisters' kiosk) But once I play the game for about a year or until I finish my critterpedia, I'm thinking of time traveling through all the months and times to get the bug and fish statues from Flick and CJ. Also here's another note when time traveling backwards: If you time travel back a few hours after watering flowers, they'll reset making you have to water them again. Speaking from experience here.
I work nightshifts and due to my job I have no time in the mornings to play as I'm sleeping, I have very few daylight hours to play unfortunately 😕. That's why I time travel, the shops aren't open and It ruins the experience for me, essentially my days are flipped lol.

I honestly. Think of animal crossing as a game of patience and hard work. Time travelling just takes away from the game. I mean you can do it if you want but it’s like an easy mode for impatient people.
You’re literally just taking the spaced out day by day playtime of the game and condensing it. You’re just playing more of the game sooner. Don’t try see how waiting in real time equates to hard work. It’s not like your village will develop itself into a masterpiece because you timeskip.

As a person who hasn’t watched the full video, here’s my view of pros and cons (and do & donts) Pros - How long everything takes : Trees growing, new island visitors, museum, shop. They all take 1 or more days, pretty time consuming? Time travelling is the only way to do things quicker, so if you’re doing a speedrun, time travelling is ideal. - Seasonal : Let’s say you had a burnout over the summer, and come back in autumn to fish some sharks. Bam, they’re not there until next year. Or you’re trying to fill that museum with seasonal fish you only get in March, and it’s April IRL. It’s either wait another 11 months, or time travel. - Closing Times : After 10PM? Everything closed? The only solution is sleep or time travel. I’d time travel, *I don’t love sleep.* Cons - Turnips : If there are turnips anywhere on your island, and you time travel.. they rot. They’re worth practically nothing, and you wasted your bells on turnips. - Villagers : If you time travelled back to like January 2020 when the real time was Spring 2022 and talked to villagers, when you eventually go back to real time, your friendship points will go down when you interact with you again. They’ll say “Oh, it’s you! I haven’t seen you in 2 years, 3 months!” or something like this. I’ve experienced this many times, probably why I don’t have my villager photos. I don't mind time travelling or not, but what's really mindblowing is when people time-travel to get everything and then complain that there's nothing left for them to do, and instead of acknowledging that it's because they time travelled, they accuse the game for being lackluster or that they should hurry up with updates.

I've put a ton of time into the game playing both ways, and I think the game is far more enjoyable with time traveling. Waiting just isn't a fun game mechanic in my opinion.

My Nook's Cranny was selling turnips for 450 bells when I time travelled to a Tuesday afternoon. I gave out my Dodo code to people to let them sell their turnips (it was physically on a Sunday afternoon, so people just bought their turnips). I wanted the turnip selling to last longer, so I time-traveled back to earlier that afternoon, and I reset my turnip prices. I couldn't get that high turnip price even though I time-traveled throughout September and October (I stopped before Halloween since I didn't want to spoil the event itself). I use time traveling for good, but sometimes greed can hurt.
As someone who works a forty hour week, not being able to see my island in daylight for the first month of playing was so depressing, I started time travelling by a few hours so I could actually even play. No regrets.

One thing I don't understand is "TT finishes the game faster" when does the game end to you?? For most people it isn't the credit sequence, that's when the game really starts and everything is finally open to you. Is it when you deck out your home? Get 5 stars? Get best friend status with your entire island? My point is that just like time travelling allows you to experience the game at your own pace, you control the end goal. If you stopped playing because you couldn't find anything to do, it isn't because time travelling shortened the lifespan of your game, but because you didn't know where your endgoal was. This game is incredibly open ended, so you can really pick and choose where to end, it's all about setting goals and the satisfaction of completing them, if you complete every goal you had why are you unsatisfied? Did you not set enough goals for yourself?
Also, people who think time travelling ruins an accomplishment or something... Not playing for 6 hours isn't an accomplishment. Waiting for a building to be crafted isn't an accomplishment... But most importantly, I still have to craft the items, talk to my villagers, and terraform my land bit by bit just like everyone else? What did you do that I didn't?

I time travel a lot. For me personally, as rewarding as it can feel being patient, sometimes it can feel equally as annoying and tedious. I’ve still put an insane amount of time into the game, and am always finding new projects to do. TT has honestly made it a more enjoyable experience for me.

just put the date to 2040, so you can still go back to your regular day without having received all the daily stuff (like projects, Nook items, and so) I only time travel once I've done everything, and then just check for projects. Animal Crossing is a really extensive game, so you can't really do EVERYTHING
@@Star_Pepo Yes, that's what I do, jump like 50 years into the future and spend some time doing all the daily tasks, but then when you come back to the present day, nothing is ruined and you still have your daily tasks to do every day. I did that at first to get villagers to move out, which worked great, and I liked it so now I keep doing it. It's a good way to just grind for materials without messing up the current time.

I think the reason people keep getting mad at time travellers is because they compare their island with other islands too much. If you time travel you get things faster, which results into you being ahead and have more stuff than they do, getting the better villagers faster ect. Animal Crossing is such a unique game when it comes to pase. It's what's so beautiful about the game imo. It teaches people to slow down, to appreciate the little things and be in the moment. Heck in the older games it even used to be Resetti's job to tell you not to reset because you had to accept whatever you did that day. But we're so used to living in a world that is so fast, with such high expectations, everything has to be bigger and better all the time. It's understandable people start to compare more. It's really a shame tho. Everyone should just enjoy the game for themselves and not worry so much about other people. Wether you time travel or not.

I time travel because the only time I ever get to play is at night, when I'm at work during my downtime, so I change the time to daytime, or if I miss an event I go back and do it (that happened with the fish tourney, and I'm really glad I was still able to do it). So many people are stuck at home right now with loads of free time to play, but that's not me. I'm still working and it's third shift, which basically sucks, lol. The reason why the villagers you're more friendly with leave is because they all kind of have a gage of friendship that gets filled after you talk to that specific villager a lot. Once the gage is all filled up, (and you're at maximum friendship with that villager) they'll decide to leave. That's why your favorite villagers tend to leave while the ones you ignore stick around for longer.

Time traveling isn’t cheating. It’s a way to play the game without having to stop for the day/miss out because you have a nocturnal lifestyle. Most time travelers only move ahead one day at a time. We all have our preferences but playing via time traveling isn’t wrong or else Nintendo would’ve made it impossible to do so.

Pro time travel tip if you don't want to travel in one day increments; time travel to 4:58 AM of the same day you are in, get the morning announcements, and boom, everything on the island is reset, and this does count for flower growth, I have tested it extensively. The game registers this as a new day, so you will get new fossil spawns, weed, rock and tree branch spawns and message in a bottle spawns. Also, if you have any special characters such as gulliver, celeste or Redd, this keeps the character in loop on your island and your are able to acquire new items each time. Hope this helps!

Being mostly a time traveller, there are merits to getting a lot of tasks done just as you’ve said. This time around, there isn’t much backlash asides from the beware of rotting turnips and some of your in game progress may be lost if you turn back in time.
For example, if you planned to have a camper move into your island and someone getting ready to move out. Then you time traveled back, that event didn’t happen at all. It happened to me in game

After you invite someone to replace a previous villager you need to play daily (or travel forward a day at a time) until your new villager is settled; if you travel back or skip a day (be it by travelling forward two days at a time or by simply not playing for a day) you could be stuck with a villager in the wrong house, and the only way to fix this is to kick that villager and invite him/her again.
I really like how you can do the night owl ordinance. I DO work all day, and I usually get home late, but now the shops are open a little longer and villagers stay up a little later so I can actually play when I get home lol.
I wish the creators considered a “night shift” mode for people who work and are on night shift. I’m never up before noon and had no clue I had been missing Daisy for months.

Also, there are duplication bugs in the game that, "ruin the in-game economy," and haven't been addressed yet, so I doubt time traveler's were the main cause of that change. Most likely a factor, but if nintendo wanted to strike the hammer and integrate a static clock into ACNH, they would have done so quite awhile ago.

I really only use it to hurry up and move a building so I don’t have to wait that day, or because of nook shoppings 5 item per day limit. And I always travel back and sync it to my real time once I’m done. I can see both ways

More information about if you time travel:
Your villiager will wake up with messy hair that they'll tidy it up back to the hairstyle they had before.
Villagers only move out if they have a bubble above their head and you talk to them and choosing if they move out or not, meaning they'll NOT move out automatically like in new leaf.
If you time travel too far then you may get one of the seasonal recipes early before the actual season comes. Also you can participate in new years early but you may feel bad for the choice you made since some of the NPCs that host some of the events are not in the game yet.
People who say time traveling is bad are the AC equivalent of Fire Emblem elitists.

Agreed. I am glad they added casual to FE because it saves me a lot of effort of save scumming since I would be going back to the beginning of the level anyway, this just saves me a lot of time and frustration.
I’ve literally never time travelled. I don’t care that people do, it’s just never been natural to me. It’s always added to the tranquility of the game to take things slowly and I love being excited to see what’s different with each day, and with seasons! I love seeing the change in seasons ☺️

I started time travelling when I was like 5. I got easily bored in the game, so I skipped ahead and then set it back. Never looked back. I don't ont have new horizons yet, but in new leaf I'm in 2022

I only plan to time travel in Animal Crossing on Christmas because that's when I get my switch and only have a week to play before school starts again. I'd like to take it back a week so everything is set up and I can grind without having to worry about not having a house to store things or not having the museum.

i have ADHD and i time travel just so i can remember wtf i was doing. if i’m building an area of my island and i need to order items i go forward to collect them from my inbox and come back because if not i would wake up the next day to deliveries like wtf was i doing with these? same with moving buildings/building bridges and inclines. i’ve gotta strike while the inspiration is there bcs once it’s gone it’s never coming back and i’ll never remember what my plan was.
also when a villager asks to move i’ve got to travel forward if i want a villager i actually like bcs if i waited for the empty plot day in real time i would completely forget and end up with chops or something. similarly with amiibo campers, there’s not a chance of me remembering to do it 3 days in a row so i time travel until the agree to move in and then return to real time. i never go forward to events, only back if i missed it because i couldn’t play that day or it slipped my mind that it was even happening. i completely agree with kora about the changing of seasons too. i love watching them change as they’re scheduled to so i always to manipulate what days i’m travelling to and from so i run ruin that fun for myself.
i tried not to time travel for the longest time when i first got the game but i just ended up getting stressed and frustrated at myself. the ways my disability made the game hard were the same ways it makes my life hard and that just ruined the escapism of animal crossing and i gave up.
i totally understand nintendo doing things to stop people time travelling to exploit elements of the game like bank interest and i like not travelling forward to events bcs we all experience them at the same time but if they were to somehow ban time travelling entirely i just wouldn’t be able to play the game anymore and that would be super sad bcs it’s been a huge rock for me recently.

I got the game quite recently. Like a month. And I was really against time traveling. But as I was playing I saw what other people have, like recepies and all the events I missed. So ive been time traveling to be able to experience those. I dont like time traveling to the future though. Just the past.
I’ve thought about doing it after seeing some of the cool things coming from other videos, but I’ve loved the organic experience of doing everything myself (even though it takes longer). I only time travel when trying to move buildings, and I mainly play towards the end of the day so I like to go back a few hours so I can do stuff. I did it a lot at the beginning because that's all I wanted to play and I ran out of things to do each day, I had a rule however that I was only allowed to go up to a week ahead and then go back so I didn't spoil the different seasons and stuff. But now I don't do it unless I wanna actually play during the day.
I’ve time traveled since the first animal crossing. To me it feels like a free to play game if I don’t. Like having to wait real time for a building to be built, etc. When NH first came out during the pandemic and everyone was playing, it was fun for me to let time go normally and kind of experience the game along with everyone. But pretty quickly I got bored of spending an hour every day doing what I could and then having nothing let to do. I wanted more! So I started changing the clock and never looked back. Like you said, who cares how anyone else wants to play? If you’re having fun with your game, that’s what matters. Good video as always❤

Honestly, this is why I have 1k+ hrs on Stardew versus my noob status on ACNH: because I felt *pressure* to play every day and guilt when I missed a day, as opposed to the in-game time set by Stardew. I may be scarred by previous Animal Crossing games where my favorite villagers (*sob* Purrl) moved away when I took a break, but I love how Stardew picks up whenever I do, and feel tempted to move the game forward on AC when I'm done with a day.
I'm 3 years late but this was well said especially the part about losing interest after finishing your house. I started New Leaf a few years after it came out because I fished and caught bugs on my brother's game. The very first night I stupidly time traveled so I could catch a full inventory and sell them and advanced to the next night. By the end of my first play session I had tens of millions of bells and had to do nothing but talk to Tom about expanding my house and pay off the loan the next day. In 2 weeks my house was maxed out, I had more bells than I could ever spend, and my desire to play the game had already greatly waned.
I'm actually thinking a bit about time travel... Is Redd not coming to people's island anymore because nintendo flipped a switch to fix something or because they got annoyed with time travelers traveling to see Redd.

I think when it turns autumn I’m probably going to time travel so I can keep the look of the trees and grass. I then revert the time back to normal once events start.

My brother doesn't care about it very much so he let's me time travel on his console then I go 3 days at a time and collect between 100,000-350,000 bells by selling fruits that aren't from that island, I then give 35% of earnings to him and throw the rest on the ground to be collected at a later date. It takes about an hour opposed to a few minutes with other methods, luckily I have no life and am a very boring person. I have paid off every loan except the last one bc I refuse to act as though I will have that many exterior changes since all that does is make those free

My opinion is that the developers nerfed every single aspect of the game so much that it becomes frustrating to play. Why can I only place or demolish one incline or bridge at a time, and why does it take a whole day for it to be done? Only certain fish and bugs come out in specific times of the day. And special events are so fast and fleeting, if I wanna go to do the event (like the fishing tournament) I have to make sure to clear off my real life calendar. I don’t wanna work my life around a game... I want a game to work around my life. So I will always and forever time travel.

I once tried time traveling, I forgot how many years I traveled and I forgot why I did it, but when I went back my mail was stuffed with tons of things from mom like birthday cakes and other things from mom that I shouldn’t have gotten yet. I felt so guilty so I just hid them in my storage and never time traveled again. I regretted it
One reason I contemplated getting ac is because I didn’t want to just be “done” with it... by that I mean, having millions and millions of bells in the bank, thousands and thousands of nook miles, filling up my museum, having my dream villagers , etc. then I would probably bully myself into deleting my island... that’s why time travel seems kinda “meh” to me.. but if you like time traveling, that’s okay! You can play your way and I can play my way.

So with the Lockdown I wont use any time traveling since I got the time of day to enjoy the morning and afternoon hours of the game but once the world is more stable and i am back to work I will sort of time traveling but not day to day but by the hours just so I can exspireance the mornigns and afternoons that I wont beable to get. It wont be fun to play when its only dark outside.
I'm personally not a time traveler, but I do time travel when it's absolutely necessary (ex: accessing the able sisters' kiosk) But once I play the game for about a year or until I finish my critterpedia, I'm thinking of time traveling through all the months and times to get the bug and fish statues from Flick and CJ. Also here's another note when time traveling backwards: If you time travel back a few hours after watering flowers, they'll reset making you have to water them again. Speaking from experience here.
I work nightshifts and due to my job I have no time in the mornings to play as I'm sleeping, I have very few daylight hours to play unfortunately 😕. That's why I time travel, the shops aren't open and It ruins the experience for me, essentially my days are flipped lol.

I used time traveling since wild world so since I was a kid and now everyone hates on people who do that for some reason. Since new horizons came out the whole community became so hateful.

I honestly. Think of animal crossing as a game of patience and hard work. Time travelling just takes away from the game. I mean you can do it if you want but it’s like an easy mode for impatient people.
You’re literally just taking the spaced out day by day playtime of the game and condensing it. You’re just playing more of the game sooner. Don’t try see how waiting in real time equates to hard work. It’s not like your village will develop itself into a masterpiece because you timeskip.

I like changing the day to always be one behind me to experience holidays in irl and in game and I also set it back a few hours because otherwise I could only play at night

As a person who hasn’t watched the full video, here’s my view of pros and cons (and do & donts)
Pros
- How long everything takes :
Trees growing, new island visitors, museum, shop. They all take 1 or more days, pretty time consuming? Time travelling is the only way to do things quicker, so if you’re doing a speedrun, time travelling is ideal.
- Seasonal :
Let’s say you had a burnout over the summer, and come back in autumn to fish some sharks. Bam, they’re not there until next year. Or you’re trying to fill that museum with seasonal fish you only get in March, and it’s April IRL. It’s either wait another 11 months, or time travel.
- Closing Times :
After 10PM? Everything closed? The only solution is sleep or time travel. I’d time travel, *I don’t love sleep.*
Cons
- Turnips :
If there are turnips anywhere on your island, and you time travel.. they rot. They’re worth practically nothing, and you wasted your bells on turnips.
- Villagers :
If you time travelled back to like January 2020 when the real time was Spring 2022 and talked to villagers, when you eventually go back to real time, your friendship points will go down when you interact with you again. They’ll say “Oh, it’s you! I haven’t seen you in 2 years, 3 months!” or something like this. I’ve experienced this many times, probably why I don’t have my villager photos.
When time travelling, do :
- Fish for seasonal fish not available at the current time in real life.
- Check the shops.
- Catch Bugs
- Dig that day’s fossils.
- Complete any current events on your island
- Look for campsite villagers.
When time travelling, do NOT :
- Talk to your villagers (when going backwards)
- Purchase turnips or have turnips at all.
There you go, my basic guide to time travelling. (Heads up, I did actually finish the video twice before I finished typing this soooooo)
I don't mind time travelling or not, but what's really mindblowing is when people time-travel to get everything and then complain that there's nothing left for them to do, and instead of acknowledging that it's because they time travelled, they accuse the game for being lackluster or that they should hurry up with updates.
New Horizons just isn't as fun as New Leaf
Time Traveling backwards to before your latest save date will not only spoil your turnips, it will also cause every Snowboy on your island to disappear.
I didn’t like the thought of time travel until I got inspired to rearrange every house on my island. New layout was up and running in an hour opposed to 10 days
I time travel for two reasons: Turnip stonks, and faster-paced progression. If I run out of things to do, I terraform to make my island look nicer.
Time traveling has always been there, I did it a lot when I was 12 in WW. Pretty sure ppl who don’t like time traveling are new.
Sometimes you don't want to wait an entire year for that one goddamned fish to complete the critterpedia.

I've put a ton of time into the game playing both ways, and I think the game is far more enjoyable with time traveling. Waiting just isn't a fun game mechanic in my opinion.

I admit, I am a time traveler. But so what it won’t really affect the way u play so why yell at people “WHAT HOW DARE YOU TIME TRAVEL THATS NOT THE WAY I PLAY SO THEREFORE YOU ARE PLAYING WRONG!” But in the end people that play this game just try to find a way to play that makes them happy. So I do agree with this video
My Nook's Cranny was selling turnips for 450 bells when I time travelled to a Tuesday afternoon. I gave out my Dodo code to people to let them sell their turnips (it was physically on a Sunday afternoon, so people just bought their turnips). I wanted the turnip selling to last longer, so I time-traveled back to earlier that afternoon, and I reset my turnip prices. I couldn't get that high turnip price even though I time-traveled throughout September and October (I stopped before Halloween since I didn't want to spoil the event itself).
I use time traveling for good, but sometimes greed can hurt.
