I don't know where all this packer fan hatred of Watson came from, he hasn't been as good as last year, but a lot of that is the fact that he doesn't have someone who can through an extremely accurate go ball, even the jump ball criticism feels a bit wrong as both of the examples have been under thrown by a good amount, and I like Jordan Love as well its just they aren't on the same page and I don't think its Watsons fault really
@@TobyElmendorf I think Lafleur just isn't using Watson the right way, using him as a contested catch weapon is not how you play to his strengths. Don't go trash talking Love just because Watson hasn't been playing great though, every other reciever Love targets is way more successful than Watson. A great wide reciever makes the qbs job as easy as possible and a great quarterback makes the wide recievers job as easy as possible, I think we are starting to see Love and his recievers meet in the middle.
@@lukebowman7513 yea I’m not trying to trash love necessarily. I 100 percent think a lot of it is on lafluer, like Watson is insane with the ball in his hands and we haven’t given him 1 jet sweep, 1 end around, and he didn’t running the shanahan scheme routes like crossers 24/7 to get him in space
Regarding Jameson Williams, the guy doesn’t come off as a hard-nosed smart player from the outside but he clearly loves the game of football and studies it well. Dude took snaps as a gunner on punt return defense for Alabama while he was the star receiver for the team and that says a lot. It’s a big reason why Brad Holmes targeted him specifically in the draft, these are always the players the Lions have coveted. Ofc some of it is Dan Campbell’s culture rubbing off, but Jamo’s always had it in him as a player to play hard and contribute to the team outside of having the ball in his hands.
Absolutely agree with your take on Lions vs Chargers. That game felt like a prime example of good vs bad coaching on display. The Chargers DL was getting driven back 3 yards on every run snap while everyone on the Lions offense was blocking their asses off for the RB. And when the Chargers were forced to commit more to defending the run, they got absolutely torched on play action. Kellen Moore called a fine game, but it was clear to see how much more reliant the Chargers offense was on talent rather than the Lions who had their offensive plays schemed up perfectly by Ben Johnson.
Have you jumped into O’Connells film at all? He’s actually playing pretty damn well, makes some great throws. That Jets defense is no joke, a lot of elite QBs have played really bad against them this year.
As a Commanders fan my take on Seattle v. Washington and what takeaways I have for the Commanders: I have finally come to an understanding about how wrong I was about this defense. If I did a 80-20 prediction before the season like what is the 80%th best outcome for this defense and what is the 20%th best outcome for the defense, I may have said the 80% outcome was its the 3rd best defense in the NFL and 20%th outcome was it was the 12th best defense in the NFL. Instead realistically, they have been like the 28th or 29th best defense in the NFL. A couple big issues are the amount of big plays they are giving up. I believe they given up the most big plays in the NFL. If you look at success rate, they are bad, but like 20th bad, but when you throw in big play given up they drop to like 28 or 29 out of 32 defenses. All three levels of the defense have disappointed to some extent but the miscues in the secondary I think are most responsible for the big plays. This was kind of in the nature of a Jack Del Rio defense but at times it goes away. But I was really wrong about the defense. My argument is that the defense should be considered a borderline top 5 defense on paper going into the season. I think last year they 3rd best in yards allowed per game, 7th best in points allowed per game, and 5th best in defensive EPA. They lost Bobby McCain (who I still think was replaceable, though they arguably failed to replace him) and Cole Holcomb (who missed the entire second half of last year), but got back Chase Young from injury and added first round picks Emmanuel Forbes and Javartius Martin to the mix. This year they have mostly been healthy on defense. Starting free safety Derrick Forrest got hurt in week 5 against Chicago and hasn't played since, but all the other starters have more or less been healthy (though some of them are playing through injuries as happens on all NFL teams, for example, Jonathan Allen has plantar fasciitis), yet they have been terrible. The big plays are the biggest reason why they have been so bad, but even on a down by down basis a lot of defensive players have been slightly worse than last year (that may be just natural variance. Long story short I drastically underestimated the downside to this defense. If you told me in the preseason we would be this bad I would have been very suprised and assumed we were decimated by injuries which has not been the case.
34:00 Yeah that was Sting's first game back from IR (Hamstring, missed 7 games) He's having a great season but he's a guy QBs just dont ever target so he's not able to get the stats ppl look for in young DBs. Along with the fact that our corners don't follow receivers so he's not able to completely shut guys down like Sauce does. more so shutting down whoever goes on that right side to face him.
Packers could have virtually stayed where they were at 53 and 59 and drafted Pickens and another quality second rounder instead of trading up for Watson. Some Vikes fans hated Kwesi "giving" Jameson Williams and Christian Watson to their division rivals. Don't think those folks are too upset now.
Man Josh Dobbs is so fun. I hope he doesn't fall off, but as someone that watched him become horrible in Arizona, I'm not really sure it's gonna happen. I hope I'm wrong because he seems like a good dude
I don't really think he got bad for the Cards. The Cards have a terrible roster and that had to show up sooner or later. Dobbs was excellent vs the Ravens who destroyed the Lions and Seahawks in the game either side. Dobbs is playing with a much stronger roster now and won't have to do so much for the Vikes.
On the saints... Penning got benched for Peat for not being able to pass protect, the thing draft evals had a bad grade on him plus he missed his rookie season setting his growth curve behind. Peat is now playing tackle but was expected to be a guard this year but as frustrating as he has been he has not been the only problem. The line as a whole has not played up to their pedigree (projected starters coming into the season are 1st or 2nd round picks) due to the combination of injury, lack of development (penning, other young guys) and likely a disconnect in communication (not sure of the root cause to solve). What makes it worse is nothing looks consistently easy or helps out the offensive line in the offensive scheme / play calling outside of the few drives where Carr or Taysom get hot
Kinda disagree about the Packers getting good draft value in the Adams trade. A late first rounder and a late second rounder for the best WR in the league, in the midst of a HOF career, coming off his best 2 seasons is not very good at all. 1st round pick sounds flashy but not when its the 22nd pick.
I know your a packers fan but if your mad that people don't like a qb who sat behind rodgers for 3 years and is in his fourth year his best game through 10 weeks is a 2int 50% completion game that led his Offense to 19 points against a defense that were missing both there starting MLbs and Minkah than i dont know what to tell you Also for that first int if you throw a ball and it hits a defenders hand before your WR than its a bad pass
@@TheDieseI Im not scoreboard watching but him throwing a risky pass down by 5 in the redzone with 4 minutes left in the game on first down just dosent impress me neither does only completing half your passes against a bad secondary
Watch every week of your game reviews for the past 3 years and this video had the best comment. "Frickin' Jets" had to tell myself playoffs not happening this year (again) and just watch to review players (again) I know Rodgers helps but the team feels just like the packers team he left with a shaky injured O line, a play making WR a play making RB and nothing else.
Love the content as always tfg! Something I don't see anybody mentioning when talking about the broncos offense is their rushing TD vs passing TD disparity, which is 1-18. Is it possible at all that Sean Payton is purposely inflating Russ' stats to make everyone think he 'fixed' Russ?
1:35:49 this doesnt feel like the most accurate depiction of what happened with Davante. 1st, he demanded a trade with his Franchise Tag expiring and refused to take the Tag again, so unlike the 49ers vs Deebo who still had a full year on his deal, the Packers had absolutely no leverage. 2, Deebo demanded a trade mostly because he didnt wanna be getting RB mileage on him while still on his rookie deal. Davante wanted to play with his friend David Carr and be closer to his hometown on top of probably seeing the writing on the wall with Rodgers on his way out soon. Different circumstances. And 3, the Packers offered Davante more money than the Raiders and he turned it down. You have to trade him after that. On top of that, you cant possibly expect Gute to maximize Davantes trade value because his trade demand became public. Trust me, Gute hasnt been great but he did about as well as you couldve other than how he used that 1st round pick
Saints fan explication. They had Hurst at LG for the season because Peat was benched. They said they didn’t want to move Hurst and make him switch positions. They said 1 position switch is better than 2. But makes no sense to me either.
I don’t gamble but if I did the 49ers over the Jags seemed like one of the easiest calls of the year. The 49ers are so mentally tough and the Jags definitely aren’t there yet. And for some reasons this year the Jaguars have been better on the road than at home.
The Browns cap is fine, the way they have it worked out is they basically spend 60 million more than the cap. Which basically is equal to Watson having a rookie deal. Also Browns can rework Watsons contract every season he’s on it
Um no? Brett Kollman did a video on Lamar Jackson’s contract situation where he detailed the issues with fully guaranteed contracts. Please explain what you mean.
Tha Jags really should have never cut James Robinson, they had a 1-2 with him and Etinenne and they could at least get home back. He was a viable receiver and a good power style RB

That's 5 years, which is as long of a SB window as plenty of other teams have had.
Houston, chargers, Steelers better then Vikings…. 🤨 Vikings lost a close game to the chargers early on. They’re continuing to get better on defense. And offense. Curious how this all will play out.
The big deal with the Browns Watson news is that they face the Steelers next week which will lead to another bad Steelers team win. Steelers suck and will likely be first in the divison if the ravens shot the bed vs the bengals again
Huh? Why can't the Vikes be the 2nd or 3rd seed? 16-4 in one score games since KOC arrived. They won 10 from 11 last season and are 6 from 7 this season. Folks keep underestimating them - and they are starting to get some players back.
