I just tesla on the second show of the shock tour in Chicago and it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen!!!! He sounded great and the double guitar work was was excellent and I will go see them again!!!!

I am amazed some of these bands last so long like Tesla with a pretty unique singer and a voice that cuts like a razor and they bang a lot of shows in during the year. First time I saw them was supporting Def Leppard ain Bristol in the UK in the 1980's they blew me away and I still love em.

They should tune way way down, like at least a whole step, to give him a fighting chance. Unfortunately, it does sound like ass and by continuing to put on those sorts of performances he is only tarnishing the memory of what was once an awesome band.
Steven Tyler's old, and his vocal cords have been medically and sonically test and they're still young and he still sounds the same pretty much... 750,000 vibrations per sec...
He always sang with a scratchy voice when he was younger and it always sounded kinda cool and bluesy, but WOW, all that smoking destroyed his voice. He sounds like Daffy Duck singing now. Damn shame.
Probably over 30yrs of screaming didn't help either. I remember when Hatfield lost his voice during the black album tour. He saw a professional and got himself right. Some will lose it from screaming like Brian Johnson, he can't hit the high notes any more.

Then again, what else are they gonna do? All these late 70's & 80's band members(mainly the lead singers, a guitarist can go on longer, for sure) are 50 + yrs old now & if they didn't invest/save their money, so they could retire when their prime is up, they have to keep touring.. most have long hair, still wearing tight jeans or spandex, boots, scarfs, eyeliner & it's not like they can just pop into Lowes Hardware or a manager position somewhere, & expect to be hired, on the spot! The only thing most of them have is their musical talent, so if yours is your voice & those vocal cords sound like a cat in heat now, you're screwed! It happens to the best of em, even if they don't smoke, drink or do drugs, your vocal cords can only take so much & so many years of being overworked! Jeff and I were DJs at a strip club in Sacramento, after Tesla's heyday and I was always struck by his lack of entitlement. I knew that Mtv creates a fiction in our minds about how successful musical acts are, financially and Tesla was no exception to the rule. I first learned this stark reality when Ron Ball, one time drummer for Twisted Sister and touring drummer for many other artists was my substance abuse counsellor when I was 19. I was shocked that someone in R&R would have a regular job, instead of living in a mansion somewhere. Ron also drove a Chevette - granted it was the cleanest and most mint I had ever seen, but still. I think it's important to have some empathy for these guys, in the same way we might expect them to have it for us. I say that because many of these people - whose music we've all loved - owe more money to a record label than we shall ever be indebted.
Man when they came out modern day cowboy in 86 before guns n roses before all those fans out of Seattle no makeup rocking and kicking ass they don't get enough credit they're held in regard in my mind to ban such as Aerosmith more of a 70s band it was refreshing and needed at the time and came it was an awesome time for music and I don't mean guns is from Seattle I'm talking about all the grunge bands that came out in the early 90s these guys were way ahead of them that's the kind of said it trends that you didn't have to be poppy pretty boys to sell records and kick ass
