Even to a layman (me) at a glance it immediately seems intentionally 'radical'.
The view outside in each panel seems interesting.
(is it just me or are the folds and the shade of red on Mary's clothes and the blue pillows seem familiar? Another religious painting perhaps)

+GabrielKnightz you've been watching too long to be considered an layman.

Amor Sciendi That's very generous thank you, i do have a question though, why is the virgin Mary and even the grown Christ often seen dressed (surrounded) in red and blue ? Is there a significance?
(or is it just my imagination? I remembered what her clothes reminded me of, for some reason, Plato from the School of Athens.)

+Pedro Menchén thanks. This one didn't get too many views, but it's a painting I personally found really interesting

This video hasn't many views because there is no many people having "amor sciendi". But it has many "likes" because it is a very good video. I have videos like this in my channel. Please, visit my channel. I am working to translate to English. Here you can see my analysis on St. Jerome in his Study th-cam.com/video/cVCjQb9ymac/w-d-xo.html

What gets me is the wonky perspective. Not sure what to say about that or what it means but I feel like things in the central panel, like the window, the towel, the bench, all recede and protrude in dissonant ways. I dunno, interesting piece to ponder though.

As always, you present a wonderful line of clear thought on artwork, and the culture and times which have given rise to the image. Even after so much time has passed, learning new ways to engage art from the past can enrich the experience of now. Thanks for your contribution. It's relevant, and makes a difference..

Interesting talk! A "fertile area that is closed off " is sometimes referred to as a walled garden or hortus conclusus.

It's amazing how masterful the textures and colours are, and at the same time how poor the perspective work is. Art history is fascinating, and full of these contrasts in technical levels.

The title has an unnecessary "The" (OCD triggered).
