Thanks for the trip down memory lane (again). I attended the Winternationals from 65'-72', before moving to the central coast for high school. Was a great childhood, what with all the drag strips around So Cal.
Good ole memories, this is the drags I remember, since I was 6 , family raced gas, top fuel then funny car, it was family , friends, and your money, not many sponsors, thanks for sharing this .
This is when drag racing was REAL drag racing. From the cars, the friendly drivers who gave autographs, the food, fries, Coke and 7up the walk along the pits, smell of fuel, the HOT CHICKS who smelled like Copper tone suntan lotion, the sun and the LOUD FUCKIN' FUNNY CARS AND DRAGSTERS that drowned out the rock music all of which gave us the most epic and spectacular sporting event that became a pop culture show we all attended for not much money. And if we couldn't go we watched it on T. V.! Too different today though! Ain't the same at all!!

Have a 63 falcon with 80 over 428 cobra jet-( pump gas) 9's at 167 mph , ssp highway patrol mustang stock) 86 ss monte carlo with 383 stroker-street) 57 Gmc apache truck with 4 bolt main 350-pump gas) mini van for the wife and f450 for me and for our grocery getter another minivan. I can honestly say that today's anouncers don't convey drag racing to the public as well as this guy.
The last time I went to an NHRA event. One of the top teams came to the track with 5-five full size trailers. His racing team had 3 with cars and parts. The other 2 were for hospitality for the sponsor and their supporters. In the 60's when you went to a NHRA event the crowds were huge and the top teams came with a roll back and stayed at a local hotel. NHRA is dying a slow death because they got away from what made them so popular.
@@randylindamood1607 ....Absolutely !!!...I liked all of Roger's cars but my favorite was that Challenger and the Monza. The Challenger had the best "Still" look ever !
This must have been a promotional film comissioned by drag race sanctioning bodies to bring more sponsors into the sport. It talked a lot about demographics of the racers and fans and about how many dragstrips and events were put on during a year. The kinds of things advertisers want to hear.

They still sell out at many tracks. I miss the old days too,but I still love nitro today!!!!
