Logitech z906 are great . No frills. 500 watt (RMS). 5.1 surround. Control hub and wireless remote to control that beast of a subwoofer and volume and if you keep an eye out you can get it for a steal of a deal at $200-250 USD.
***** as I said not even comparable. That's like asking if you prefer a road bike or a Ferrari. Neither are comparable, and is in a completely different price bracket.
Building your own setup is normally preferable as far as 5.1 goes. However, Swan makes some very good 5.1 systems. (Their multimedia range that is. Unless you want to spend >2k on a system.) Swan m20 5.1 mkii as well as the m60 5.1
Hey Jonathan, my dad has always been obsessed with his audio systems. He has his expensive record player, amplifier and so on. His favorite speakers that he will never replace are martin logan speakers which new can be pricey, but can be found often online for used for cheaper in great condition form other audio lovers. They are absolutely fantastic speakers and you should definitely keep them in mind.
When it comes to hiding cables, get some grommet plates and run them through the wall. I do sound and video for a living and that's really the only way you're going to get a clean setup minus the nasty cables mucking everything up :)
***** and if you can't do that, then get some rounded trunking in white. Doesn't look nearly as good but much better than having cables running everywhere
For desk cable management, I would recommend a desk mounted power strip. You wouldn't appreciate it until you get it, but having room to do whatever your feet want under a desk makes such a difference.
Dude, use zip ties to manage those cables under your desk! Super easy and cheap and you can make everything organised and neat and you'll know what cable goes to what.
Hi Jonathan. To hide your wires u have a couple of options. If you want the super clean wireless look get an in wall power kit. It allows for anyone to install a power outlet behind the TV so that the power chord can be plugged into it and hidden. Also the kit allows for you to run wires (HDMI) in wall so that you can connect all your equipment. If you want a quicker and cheaper solution wire track molding works very well. You can get that at any Best Buy or Home Depot. Quick to install... Hope this helps.
I always enjoy watching your setup tours because you pay a lot of attention to audio and video and I always get great ideas from you to add to my setup!
That TV is tiny... It doesn't even matter if it's 4K when you're that far away and the TV is that small, it probably looks identical to 1080p when you're sitting on the couch in that room.
I'd recommend getting home theatre separates. This means a 5.1 speaker set and a home theatre amplifier. Always much better than any all in one systems, and more reliable/easier to upgrade
Awesome setup you guys have! Now I have to come visit.. Maybe when I am settled in the new job I can drop some coin on a flight and come buy you guys a real dinner!
Jonathan I recommend Sonos individual speakers. they are sold each separetly and can be merged to play a single audio and have equal volume around all your house. You can little by little buy more and more until you have enough for the whole office.
I like the industrial look of your space. As far as TV cable management, the cleanest way (if you are not going to sit something under the TV to to hide the cables) is to cut an opening in the sheetrock behind the TV (and they have a lot of cable faceplates that can make the hole in the sheetrock nice and clean) and a hole in the sheetrock down below your stand that you sit your components (PS, XBox etc.) and that way there are no cables showing at all on the wall.
Just a suggestion. That wall is so big. Bring the TV back to its stand. Get a gloss white or black entertainment stand (IKEA), helps hide wires. Look into Cambridge Audio 5.1 theater speakers which come in white and black. Yamaha, Onkyo and Denon make some awesome AV receivers!
I have the bose V35 home entertainment system and I really like it. The remote learns all of the other devices remotes and that way you instantly get a unifying remote that works like a charm. Speakers are great and it's also 5.1. As for cable management, we managed to put all of our cables through the ceiling and have made it possible to have the least amount of wires visible (which I personally like to do for all of my setups as well).
As for the audio setup. You wanted a 5.1 surround sound system. In that case i'd recommend the KEF E305. It comes in black or white. Also go for a good AV receiver that can manage your 4K feeds from the Xbox, PS4 and other perhipicals. In that case the Denon X2100W or 3100W would be highly recommended. These receivers are packed with features, including bluetooth, airplay, wifi, 4k scale-up, etc.
For your living area audio setup, I highly recommend Klipsch for home theater/entertainment systems. Their Reference series offer great audio quality for a decent price. You can't really go wrong with any of their systems, but the Reference and their flagship Palladium's take the cake.
When it comes to cable management. Your best option will always be to go inside the wall. It's not that difficult, nor takes long. For the power, have a sparky run it up behind the tv. For your audio and visual interfaces, you can do it yourself. I know I'm late, but may help someone else.
Im glad you finally released this video man!! I have been waiting for it ever since you first tweeted a pic of the thumbnail. I think that was even before the New Years. Keep it up :)
Heard many people go crazy about the Vizio sound bar system. For cable management, to not take away from the epic look of the tv on the wall, I would cut a hole in the wall and run cables down through that hole to the entertainment center below.
awesome video Jonathan! my suggestion for upstairs: give that huge awesome storage thing what you have another color. paint it in a light(er) color. I guess that will definately look awesome!
Nice setup man! I think it's better than most of the other setups out there simply because you don't have like 6 4K 50 inch monitors and like 40 tablets lying around just because you can.
How to hide that wire: You have two options. 1. Get some fishers tape, and use that to send the wire behind the wall. (You will most likely want to also get a drywall saw and some other tools to install an outlet inside the wall. (Although technically not to code) 2. Go to your hardware store, (like home depot) and pick up some cable management tubing. This is a very handy tool, as it has 2 sided tape on the back, and just snaps shut to conceal the wires. I painted mine the exact same colour as my walls, so it blends in great. Check them out. (I Don't nessesarily suggest this as the #1 option, because if it is a signal cable [like HDMI] you can run those behind the wall. But if it is a power cable, you should really be installing an outlet behind the TV)
I subscribed when you mentioned you use peppermint essential oil in your salt lamp. LOVE THAT OIL BRO! I feel like I could totally relate to you and your set up.
Hey Jonathan, glad I found your TH-cam page. I have a passion for great setups too. Still putting some things together and I've been taking some of your great suggestions to get the job done. It's funny, before I even saw your video, I was going to cop those white Yamaha studio monitors for my new office desk. WE have great taste! Carry on sir!
Cool bro! I have a suggestion for that cord on the wall. You need the cord management kit. They have those at best buy. But I'm sure they are on amazon as well.
They make tv wall mounts that have shelves that go down below the tv. It makes a cool way to store your consoles and other tv stuffs while also hiding all the cables behind the tv
Great Tour! I prefer a good pair of loudspeakers over a 5.1 system. Because the sound quality is much better, you have all frequenzes in one box and Music sounds really nice too. I have already switched from 5.1 to 2.0 and i like it. Most films i watch don't even uses the rear speakers of my old system. For speakers i like b&w or Dali.
Audio Setup: Sonos Soundbar at the front 2 Sonos Play:3s for the surrounds Sonos Sub for the bass/lows. Yeah, it's costly, but it sounds amazing and it can do so much more than just TV audio.
Here's my suggestions for your surround system: Try Focal on the high end if you want pro audio monitors and sub that are excellent 5.1 or 7.1. On the consumer side I'd go with Klipsch. They're awesome and they have their speakers in a ton of theaters world wide.
Wow man that was awesome Jonathan you definitely inspired me to get to a level where I can one day get a studio great video so cool to see thanks for sharing with us
Sick Sick Sick! You just made most of TH-cam jealous with that one! TV Cable management if you're not renting or are good with Spackle I'd say cut holes for the cables and get some wall inserts to make it look clean. Or just some cable covers/channels painted the same color as the wall. We picked up a Vizio 5.1 sound bar for our game room and like it a lot so far. Center Left and Right on the bar then a wireless sub and 2 rear satellites. I really wanna try the Rokonin Cine lens. Debating between that and the 18-35 1.8 from Sigma.
it would be better if you not tilt em' speakers facing you but straight - to achieve the optimum triangular sound wave effect on a desk. Love those salt lamps - they add a tint of coziness to everything tech. Thanks mate for the video.
Logitech Z506 for sound, metal pipe to behind the chests and consoles in the chest, get some led strips that change color according to what you're watching on tv !
LOGITECH Z906!!!!!!!!!!!!! So simple and clean and sound amazing! a ton of bass and is 5.1. Ive had them for 2 years and absolutely love them. Just do optical out from the Vizio TV and you are good to go!
You guys asked for it! *Ultimate Setup & Office Tour! v1.0* Definitely hit that like button/+1/share if you enjoyed!
Well bose acoustimass 6 is pretty damn awesome for a 5.1 surround sound!
Logitech z906 are great . No frills. 500 watt (RMS). 5.1 surround. Control hub and wireless remote to control that beast of a subwoofer and volume and if you keep an eye out you can get it for a steal of a deal at $200-250 USD.
***** the beyers WTF. That isn't even a comparison.
***** as I said not even comparable. That's like asking if you prefer a road bike or a Ferrari. Neither are comparable, and is in a completely different price bracket.

Swan m20 5.1 mkii as well as the m60 5.1
Awesome setup dude! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah I agree. Mine won't look close to being as nice as the ones I've been seeing on youtube.
I agree too much awesomeness and I feel so poor. But I realize that if I try to catch with all this tech I will definitely be broke.

Not bad. Not bad at all...
haha thanks!
The Yeti Pro is great for the "Money." Few will get that pun, but I know that you will. :)
lolz
I don't get it......
.
Whilst binging lots of other set up tour videos, for some reason I cant stop comparing them to this video or MKBHD's. Both are incredible!
When it comes to hiding cables, get some grommet plates and run them through the wall. I do sound and video for a living and that's really the only way you're going to get a clean setup minus the nasty cables mucking everything up :)
Nice man thanks
***** and if you can't do that, then get some rounded trunking in white. Doesn't look nearly as good but much better than having cables running everywhere
Or cheerios like MKBHD
For desk cable management, I would recommend a desk mounted power strip. You wouldn't appreciate it until you get it, but having room to do whatever your feet want under a desk makes such a difference.
Taking tons of inspiration from you for my channel. (P.S - Amazing setup and quality Jon, thumbs up)
Wow... I love that you are starting a music and cooking projects! Can't wait for them!
Dude, use zip ties to manage those cables under your desk! Super easy and cheap and you can make everything organised and neat and you'll know what cable goes to what.
Good idea!
I really like how you don't over crowd your desk. I like your setup a lot.
wait so what is the actual desk?
Hi Jonathan. To hide your wires u have a couple of options. If you want the super clean wireless look get an in wall power kit. I'm watching this 2 years later

Your videos are so good, much more engaging than other TH-camrs! The camera work in this video is really on point :)
That TV looks so tiny? Is it because of that huuuuuge as wall or ...?
Wall is huge lol
Your video quality gets better by the day. Amazing job!
YEAH!
YEAH!
YEAH!
YEAH!
yeah !! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Woooo! Breaking Bad! I agree about the cinematography, there's a really original style to it, hard to explain but just totally genius.
So.... you have a kitchen. Linus has a kitchen too aaaand it's a recording set. So now tell me why your kitchen is better?
Can't say that it's better but I cook in mine like a mother effer ha
I would go absolutely crazy organizing and setting up that place. That is one type of project I LOVE working on.
Is it just me or is the TV to small for the room or the room is to big for the TV lol. Mind blown!
big ass room lol
***** lol you might need to invest in those 98 inch 8k TV's just to fill the big ass room lol jk awesome setup.
TrueRay17 That'd be nuts lol
Never knew how broad TLD was. I am amazed and impressed. This video is awesome!
What bout the desk
Its actually a dining table bought from IKEA
Great video!
Both Klipsch and Swans makes killer speakers, definitely worth checking out.
*That is one dope setup to say the least!! **cough**TH-cam moneh**cough*** *jkjk :)*
I'd recommend getting home theatre separates. This means a 5.1 speaker set and a home theatre amplifier. Always much better than any all in one systems, and more reliable/easier to upgrade
:D
:D
Awesome video Jonathan! When can I come through and make some stuff in that awesome space?!
Whenever you're in town!
Awesome setup you guys have! Now I have to come visit.. Maybe when I am settled in the new job I can drop some coin on a flight and come buy you guys a real dinner!
My favorite shot show is Mr. Robot. The filmography, the sound, and actors are all too good.
Jonathan I recommend Sonos individual speakers. they are sold each separetly and can be merged to play a single audio and have equal volume around all your house. You can little by little buy more and more until you have enough for the whole office.
Oh man so much awesomeness on your setup. And that TV definitely needs a great sound system. Congrats!
Daym man really love ur setup and ur videos are sooooo awsum!!!!!....i like ur tech vids more than unbox therapy!!
Loved the intro!
I appreciate that you asked for some tips from the viewers. Great stuff.

Wonderful workplace. I love people who have an iMac in their workplace.
Great setup! Bluelounge makes a great cable manager called the Soba
Thanks! I'll check that out!

Glad you did a quick review on that 4K Vizio. Think I'll go and pick one up. Good job Jon!
Just started watching Breaking Bad, love this serie so much. It is my favorite show so far!
The blue yeti absolutely rocks!
solid mic!
Loved this tour. You have a really nice space and some awesome kit. Thanks for sharing!!!
Heard many people go crazy about the Vizio sound bar system. For cable management, to not take away from the epic look of the tv on the wall, I would cut a hole in the wall and run cables down through that hole to the entertainment center below.
really nice setup Jon. I like how functional it is! Great vid
awesome video Jonathan!

Bose cinemate 520 is 4k ready and a great sounding system, the wireless sub is a great feature too
Impressive desk man! That 5K iMac looks amazing on that desk tho.
Thanks!
Love this video and your setup! An absolute dream for me 👍
Harman/Kardon! They have tons of award winning surround sound systems!
Loving The Setup!
Awesome production quality and tech!
I would definitely vouch for Bang and Olufsen for home audio. They are the king.
You should get a trigger point foam roller they're so much more fun
nice monitors my only problem is if after a few years that can loose the coulor and turn in yellow understand what im saing
I subscribed when you mentioned you use peppermint essential oil in your salt lamp. LOVE THAT OIL BRO! I feel like I could totally relate to you and your set up.

Cool bro! I have a suggestion for that cord on the wall. You need the cord management kit. They have those at best buy. But I'm sure they are on amazon as well.
Hiding cable, get some cable-tex, self adhesive from Amazon. Love the desk space, ours will be the same as we start home studio. Exciting times!
They make tv wall mounts that have shelves that go down below the tv. It makes a cool way to store your consoles and other tv stuffs while also hiding all the cables behind the tv
Klipsch RP-280 Home Theater System, Expensive but I Love it. Can be loud when you want it to be and soft and mellow when needed.
For your TV home entertainment speakers get the Philips NX7.
Awesome speakers, have dj controls on them and look BOSS
Neat desktop computer and the place looks cool man, keep up the hard work.
Clean and fresh. Love the setup!

Just got my salt lamp...keep dropping those crispy videos!!!
Wow man that was awesome Jonathan you definitely inspired me to get to a level where I can one day get a studio great video so cool to see thanks for sharing with us
Thanks man! :D
You have the most awesome video camera (fs7) a TH-camr can get. You have a very good taste.
That can also be said about the rx100m3.
Sonos playbar, sub, and play:1's are awesome!
Drill into the wall to hide the wires. And use Bose lifestyle surround sound it's so amazing.
amazing setup man and love your videos
Sick Sick Sick! You just made most of TH-cam jealous with that one!
TV Cable management if you're not renting or are good with Spackle I'd say cut holes for the cables and get some wall inserts to make it look clean. Or just some cable covers/channels painted the same color as the wall.
We picked up a Vizio 5.1 sound bar for our game room and like it a lot so far. Center Left and Right on the bar then a wireless sub and 2 rear satellites.
I really wanna try the Rokonin Cine lens. Debating between that and the 18-35 1.8 from Sigma.
I watch all your videos and never realized we have almost the same setup. Very funny! Minus the guitar...
it would be better if you not tilt em' speakers facing you but straight - to achieve the optimum triangular sound wave effect on a desk. Love those salt lamps - they add a tint of coziness to everything tech. Thanks mate for the video.
Logitech Z506 for sound, metal pipe to behind the chests and consoles in the chest, get some led strips that change color according to what you're watching on tv !
Two more Vizio 4k TVs on either side of the current one. That would be epic.
Amazing place. Awesome video. That is all
Thanks sir!
Yessss, I love Breaking Bad just got done with the whole series a couple days ago. I want some more lol
LOGITECH Z906!!!!!!!!!!!!! So simple and clean and sound amazing! a ton of bass and is 5.1. Ive had them for 2 years and absolutely love them. Just do optical out from the Vizio TV and you are good to go!
