  • DIY wire wrap gemstone bead bracelet tutorial
    In this video tutorial, I will show you how to make a beautiful wire wrapped bead bracelet with step by step instructions. Suitable for the beginner with basic wire working skills.
    The tutorial will show you how to form the individual links, how to wire wrap a gemstone bead, and how to link them all together. I'll also show you how to make a simple hook clasp for the final piece.
    Materials you will need:
    1mm (18g) bare copper wire, dead soft
    0.4mm (26g) bare copper wire, dead soft
    8mm gemstone beads
    Flush cutters
    Chain nose pliers
    Six step bail making pliers
    Ruler
    Steel bench block
    Jewellers (chasing) hammer
    I really hope you enjoy making this gorgeous bracelet. You could make it longer, for a necklace, if you use 9 or 11 beaded links along with your chosen number of cotter pin links to go around the back of the neckline.
    Have fun, and I'll see you soon for the next video
    Sam x

      Hi Lynn. I’m so sorry you’re going through a bad patch at the moment. It’s hard, isn’t it? I find when things get tough for me, I make beautiful things, listen to and watch my favourite TH-camrs, and remember there is definitely joy to be had in this world. I’m so happy you feel comfortable listening to me rambling along. It’s like having a coffee with a friend, isn’t it 🥰 I send you best wishes and hope you’re ok

    So cute! I'm making a choker instead of a bracelet. I'm using 6mm beads so I adjusted the size of the loops a bit (using the 4th mandril of the pliers). It's rather slow going but sure looks pretty. Thank you for this unique link technique!

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh I think a choker is going to look so beautiful 🤩 What colour beads are you using?

    • @roxannecoyne2744
      @roxannecoyne2744 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They're red dyed quartz beads. I got them from Michaels. And I'm using silver wire. (well, not sterling, but silver colored copper wire). I think it'll turn out really nice! I just started last night and I'm a slow worker, so I'll be at it for a while. And I had to buy a new hammer, too because I can't find my old one so last night I was banging on the block with a piece of fossilized wood! It did the job, but....I don't want to damage the wood.

      @@samanthalatimer1I did it! Except guess what? It's a bracelet and not a choker. heehee! I absolutely LOVE it. What a beautiful design. It's elegant but simple. My hubby love it too. The hardest part for me was figuring out where to bend the straight tails of the pins once they come off the mandril. At first I wasn't placing the pliers in the right place and the straight parts were wonky. I watched you do it several times and finally got the hang of it. Thank you again for your careful instruction. I am super pleased with my new bracelet!

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! ☺️ I think it’s just about practice, to be honest. Keep your hands and shoulders relaxed and when you’re bending and wrapping the wires, keep everything relaxed and gentle. As a beginner, we can be tense I think, and certainly for me, that made it so the work wasn’t as smooth as I could have been. Also, get some aluminium wire to practice with… you can practice the basic principles more cheaply with aluminium wire and as you progress, move onto copper etc. Keep your wrist loose and slow when you’re wrapping too, which should help 😍 Have fun 🤩

    As an aside, I have noticed that you use a pair Tronex chain nose pliers, how do they stack up against the regular like "amazon" chain nose pliers? Love your designes! I love working with bare copper but have a problem with tarnishing. I have a few pieces in a couple local shops and I have to visit them every so often to polish the tarnish off. How do you keep your pieces from tarnishing?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Treat them with Renaissance Wax! Rub the wax over the piece and buff off with a soft cloth. Repeat a couple of times and that should help with the tarnish 🥰

      One more question… when you patina with liver of sulphur, do you patina AFTER the bracelet is complete or do you patina all the wire before you put the piece together. If you do it after the piece is complete, does it affect the beads at all?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@susanmanicone4914 that’s an excellent question. If you’re using beads that you feel *may* be a little porous (like jasper etc) then patina your wire first. Beads such as amethyst, jade, and the harder materials are usually fine. I always throw a bead into the solution first to check how it reacts to the sulphur. Hope that helps ☺️
