All German cars have this feature both my VW and Audi have the same feature. It's a safety feature if you want to park it next to a road. It lasts for hours. Normally it gives you an alarm with the ignition on.
Randy, Airmatic suspension is a lot easier to deal with compared to the ABC system. You could convert it to conventional suspension if you wanted to keep it. I don’t think the 1,100 price is worth it though. Too much. I’d personally rather have the SL
A class super cheap to convert. I did to my 2000. Worse was all the other air leaks. Because it had the soft touch doors and trunk and the heated cooled seats even in the rear. But I don’t like the mileage.
Randy, FYI that 3 series noise is lifter tick, all N52 engines do it if engine is shut off while cold, will go away once its at operating temperature. Google N52 lifter tick, it does not cause engine issues, just sounds bad.

Hey I have this gen S Class and I’ll say the front suspension may either have an lowering link sensor issue which is just pennies to replace, or the air tank (the side u checked behind the bumper on the drivers side) having a leak at the top of the line going to it, but the car seems pretty sound, i know im a few months late but I hope you did get it! Mine is about to hit 300,000km and its still running and sounding strong with lots of torque
if she doesn't mind storing it outside lol...the SL500 is a fire hazard for the exact reason displayed in this vid. MB still doesn't even know why it happens exactly, so it can't really be preventatively maintained.
Hydro boost was used on all heavy duty application trucks. Even caprices in the 80’s has it as an option when equipped with the tow package. It’s a good thing because no matter what rpm the motor is at you will have power brakes.

I bought a 2002 S430 at Copart not long ago that had fire damage under the hood. I replaced the damaged harness and found the car had 286K on it. I never would have guessed it because the car runs and drives perfectly. I got mine for about $600. $1100 is a bit on the high side but it is a clean car. If you ever want to talk about W220s or anything Mercedes, let me know. I daily drive an 03 S430 and will be getting a STAR diagnostic system soon.
That red Mercedes is a must buy IMHO. Electrics are easy to sort and in the States there must be plenty of used spares about. Weird Beard could do the paint repairs in the boot and you have a brilliant car that looks superb.

Red SL500 the module that caught fire controls the power roof. You replace the entire harness back there song with fixing the module and hydraulic line and you're Golden

I'd avoid the car regularly as Chryslers are crap on wheels. They have Water-Fall-Depreciation and are not worth the paper to write up a contract. Only fools buy them.
When the 2005 Chrysler 300 came out I asked a dealer to bring one to my house for a test drive. He brought their demo which had the speedometer cable disconnected so as to not rack up miles. The car wouldn't shift out of first gear. I told him, if I buy one, I don't want this one. I ended up not buying the car, but it was interesting to see how the car reacted without the speed input.
For someone who loves his 2500 Chevrolet trucks you would think that you would notice that the hydro boost has been standard on them for quite sometime. It is no longer a strictly diesel thing. Stock 6.0 gas 2500 trucks come with them!

I love these S classes. I got a 2004 S430 a couple months ago that I'm working on. Airmatic is much easier to work on compared to ABC in my opinion. I have already sorted out some of the Airmatic issues on mine. This one looks ok but those miles might not be worth it.

At 4:50 that button on the top next to the door lock button that had the picture of the shock on it in the Mercedes is the shock stiffening button. To make it go from comfort to medium to real stuff suspension.
I had a gas chevy truck that had hydro boost. The hydro boost also came on the chevy trucks since the late 80's early 90's, mine was a 94 3500, all original, with the 454 gas engine and only 60k on it. The hydro boost is better than the vacuum booster especially if you are towing and have a low rpm low vacuum motor.
The button on the interior in the s500 you were unsure of is to control the suspension settings. Both leds on would make the suspension very stiff. If no lights are on the suspension is in the comfort setting. There isnt an electrical fault with the car, you moved the switch all the way to the left which caused the parking light to remain on.
The light is on in the S500 because where you left the headlight switch! They are parking lights and when you turn the switch counter clock wise to where you think it is off like most cars, it is the parking lights! There are right and left parking lights because some of these are sold in countries where you drive on the other side of the road!

The 3.0 in BMW do that because of the lifters it's normal. Use a heavier weight oil and it will quiet down. Also make sure coolant is full. The tapping is normal. And the 3.0 is famous for valve cover gaskets. Basic maintenance
That RX-8 is showing classic signs of the beginnings of rotor tip seal failure. Once they start going they usually go rather quickly and that's an expensive repair. Realistically that ones parts, which is a shame as Mike could sort that scrape and the cooked paint easily and make it look fantastic. That could be one to buy and sit on until you can find a cheap one with a good engine and do the swap as, being the anniversary model, it's going to be high-spec and potentially quite desirable...
On the GMC......sometimes they show on the fuel gauge "Diesel Fuel Only" or check the fuel door on the outside. Hopefully that would help to determine if it was a Diesel before the next time you come across this again..
2006 SL500 is a buy in my opinion . It looks like the electrical fire was in the convertible top folding system . It seams if you just isolate and disconnect that system you potentially got a running non convertible SL500 .
Randy, I have a 2002 Mustang GT with the hydobooster. That was all new to me. Of course I'm not the car guru alot of people are. She was a Diamond in the ruff. Original 4.6L w/ manual 5 speed & 150000 original.
The S500 is a deal! Drive it til it dies, part it out and make a fortune. Like you said the parts sell for a LOT of money! You could probably make 10 times you money parting it out after driving it til it dies. Most people like the 500 better than the 600. The 12 cyl is a little overkill and the V8 seems to be just right, for resale the 500 will be better if you decide to flip it you could double your money on it pretty easy. A clean S500 can still bring in a couple bucks. Fix the strut and it is worth 4k-5k "private party" value in "good" condition. Yes you can get the air struts cheap online. No paying 1000-1200 bucks for them anymore! I have a E class, with 240k, with the AMG stuff on it, That is rust free and in excellent condition, that I am selling now. I love driving the Mercedes, it drives like new still, even with 240k on it. Super tight! You can't get a better made car. Everything still works on mine too and the seats still look like new! Just the AMG wheels on that car will sell later for as much as you are buying the car for, then you sell the drive train, interior and body parts and you will multiply you money by ten fold. You can't go wrong! You have the room and the capability to tear it down later and part it out after you enjoy driving it for a long time, which will in its self pay for the car with the enjoyment of driving that car. Buy it now!

Mine had almost zero emissions when the smog test was done at 240k miles. Mine is the inline 6cyl M104 engine that made Mercedes famous and is still used in commercial vehicles made by Mercedes today. They call it the million mile motor! It has been highly used in taxi's all over the world for decades. Many with over one million miles and still running good. Not to mention the many other commercial applications it is used for. If you don't know about a Mercedes then go drive some and buy one! I like the 300 E class's and 500 S class's with the 6 and 8 cyl engines. I believe they are the best and if taken care of will last forever! I am retired now and selling all my cars and trucks getting ready for a long motorhome trip across the country and then selling it too and moving overseas, or I would not sell any of my vehicles. I have the Mercedes, a Lincoln Town Car, a Cadillac Deville, a Corvette and a ext cab custom Chevy Truck left that were my favorites. Time to enjoy life somewhere else now! My dad said when he drove my 500 series years ago "now I know the difference between a car and a automobile!" BMW's are notorious for that lifter tapping noise. They usually go away because it has automatic adjusting lifters after a few seconds but the fact that the noise isn't going away is hinting that the oil is very low on the car or somebody ran it with low oil for a while.
On the BMW, they have a problem with the PCV system; they suck at being able to remove moisture. As a consequence, rod bearings and lifters suffer. I believe that is what you are hearing.
I'll share my opinions on the cars you viewed today. 1. The S class I think you should leave for someone else, unless you plan on keeping it. 2. I do like Buicks, but stay away from the LaCrosse, too many things wrong with it, though imo the hail isn't that big of an issue, you'd be surprised how many people will buy a hail riddled car. 3. If it were me, I'd buy that 500SL, you don't see those anymore and it would be nice to bring it back. It would make a good project car. But I can understand why you wouldn't bid on it. 4. The 300 is 50/50 on me, I think it has potential. The interior can be cleaned. 5. The 328I seems deceptive, I'd stay away from it. 6. Depending on what it goes for, the GMC 2500 could be a win. Either as a truck for you or to sell. 7. The other 500SL is another 50/50 for me, the parts could be expensive, but if you finish it'll sell well. 8. I've been in a SL550, and they're very nice, but unless you want to actually rebuild that one, I'd stay away. 9. RX-8 seems like a win, if you're looking for your next flip car, get the RX-8. 10. Stay away from the Acura, it doesn't seem worth it from the way it's been sitting. Overall, the RX-8 is the best out of the bunch, if you're looking for your next flip car, that's it. That is, if it doesn't hail during that storm.
The s-class has electronically controlled shock absorbers to control the stiffness. Beautiful car the v8 is great and can last forever, the light isn’t stuck on it’s the “party lights” for parking on the side of the road the light knob is just turned past off.
Bad call Randy. Surprised at you unless this was a test for us to see if we are paying attention. On the BUICK Lacrosse with the oil over full, you never wiped the stick and stuck it back down. Lots of times if you rev a motor before you shut it off the oil shows further up the stick. Secondly, you said might be water in the oil. Again, a test? - since you have shown us that water would appear as a milkshake color and this car had an OIL color. Third you suggested a head gasket and coolant was in the oil. This was a test right? If not, study up before you go back out next time. I binge the hell out of you and WB and JT and love you all. Sonny (CT)

The parking light stayed on because you put the switch in the on position, the Mercedes have that option. It's not an electric problem

The 3.0 in BMW do that because of the lifters it's normal. Use a heavier weight oil and it will quiet down. Also make sure coolant is full. The tapping is normal. And the 3.0 is famous for valve cover gaskets. Basic maintenance
The M-B S sedan is a great prospect & you can learn more about the air suspension system. It should be no loss adventure with quick turn over.
Once it warms up the tapping stops. Similar to GMC 5.3 v8 with the tap

That RX-8 is showing classic signs of the beginnings of rotor tip seal failure. Once they start going they usually go rather quickly and that's an expensive repair. Realistically that ones parts, which is a shame as Mike could sort that scrape and the cooked paint easily and make it look fantastic. That could be one to buy and sit on until you can find a cheap one with a good engine and do the swap as, being the anniversary model, it's going to be high-spec and potentially quite desirable...

On the GMC......sometimes they show on the fuel gauge "Diesel Fuel Only" or check the fuel door on the outside. Hopefully that would help to determine if it was a Diesel before the next time you come across this again..
2006 SL500 is a buy in my opinion . It looks like the electrical fire was in the convertible top folding system . It seams if you just isolate and disconnect that system you potentially got a running non convertible SL500 .

The S500 is a deal! Drive it til it dies, part it out and make a fortune. Like you said the parts sell for a LOT of money! You could probably make 10 times you money parting it out after driving it til it dies. Most people like the 500 better than the 600. The 12 cyl is a little overkill and the V8 seems to be just right, for resale the 500 will be better if you decide to flip it you could double your money on it pretty easy. A clean S500 can still bring in a couple bucks. Fix the strut and it is worth 4k-5k "private party" value in "good" condition. Yes you can get the air struts cheap online. No paying 1000-1200 bucks for them anymore! I have a E class, with 240k, with the AMG stuff on it, That is rust free and in excellent condition, that I am selling now. I love driving the Mercedes, it drives like new still, even with 240k on it. Super tight! You can't get a better made car. Everything still works on mine too and the seats still look like new! Just the AMG wheels on that car will sell later for as much as you are buying the car for, then you sell the drive train, interior and body parts and you will multiply you money by ten fold. You can't go wrong! You have the room and the capability to tear it down later and part it out after you enjoy driving it for a long time, which will in its self pay for the car with the enjoyment of driving that car. @@B0xlife1 How many times are you going to ask me the same question! You heard that one running and it sounds excellent, mine also runs perfect. If you take care of these cars they will go forever. Mine had almost zero emissions when the smog test was done at 240k miles. Mine is the inline 6cyl M104 engine that made Mercedes famous and is still used in commercial vehicles made by Mercedes today. They call it the million mile motor! It has been highly used in taxi's all over the world for decades. Many with over one million miles and still running good. Not to mention the many other commercial applications it is used for. If you don't know about a Mercedes then go drive some and buy one! I like the 300 E class's and 500 S class's with the 6 and 8 cyl engines. I believe they are the best and if taken care of will last forever! I am retired now and selling all my cars and trucks getting ready for a long motorhome trip across the country and then selling it too and moving overseas, or I would not sell any of my vehicles. I have the Mercedes, a Lincoln Town Car, a Cadillac Deville, a Corvette and a ext cab custom Chevy Truck left that were my favorites. Time to enjoy life somewhere else now! My dad said when he drove my 500 series years ago "now I know the difference between a car and a automobile!" No, I am not a Mercedes salesman or endorsed by them, I am just passing on my experience with these fine automobiles. BMW's are notorious for that lifter tapping noise. They usually go away because it has automatic adjusting lifters after a few seconds but the fact that the noise isn't going away is hinting that the oil is very low on the car or somebody ran it with low oil for a while.

On the BMW, they have a problem with the PCV system; they suck at being able to remove moisture. As a consequence, rod bearings and lifters suffer. I believe that is what you are hearing.
some of them when u turn it off the park light on one side stays on for abit n gradually go off this is class dude loads of extra extras lol
I'll share my opinions on the cars you viewed today.
1. The S class I think you should leave for someone else, unless you plan on keeping it.
2. I do like Buicks, but stay away from the LaCrosse, too many things wrong with it, though imo the hail isn't that big of an issue, you'd be surprised how many people will buy a hail riddled car.
3. If it were me, I'd buy that 500SL, you don't see those anymore and it would be nice to bring it back. It would make a good project car. But I can understand why you wouldn't bid on it.
4. The 300 is 50/50 on me, I think it has potential. The interior can be cleaned.
5. The 328I seems deceptive, I'd stay away from it.
6. Depending on what it goes for, the GMC 2500 could be a win. Either as a truck for you or to sell.
7. The other 500SL is another 50/50 for me, the parts could be expensive, but if you finish it'll sell well.
8. I've been in a SL550, and they're very nice, but unless you want to actually rebuild that one, I'd stay away.
9. RX-8 seems like a win, if you're looking for your next flip car, get the RX-8.
10. Stay away from the Acura, it doesn't seem worth it from the way it's been sitting.
Overall, the RX-8 is the best out of the bunch, if you're looking for your next flip car, that's it. That is, if it doesn't hail during that storm.

The s-class has electronically controlled shock absorbers to control the stiffness. Beautiful car the v8 is great and can last forever, the light isn’t stuck on it’s the “party lights” for parking on the side of the road the light knob is just turned past off.
That 328i noice is probably the timing chain.
Bad call Randy. Surprised at you unless this was a test for us to see if we are paying attention. On the BUICK Lacrosse with the oil over full, you never wiped the stick and stuck it back down. Lots of times if you rev a motor before you shut it off the oil shows further up the stick. Secondly, you said might be water in the oil. Again, a test? - since you have shown us that water would appear as a milkshake color and this car had an OIL color. Third you suggested a head gasket and coolant was in the oil. This was a test right? If not, study up before you go back out next time. I binge the hell out of you and WB and JT and love you all. Sonny (CT)
