In my opinion the last Leo tournament was Ludwig’s Smash Invitational. Leo had a really hard bracket and still brought out his insane skills to destroy everyone.
I do feel that Genesis was pretty easy since he didn't have to run into some of his demons. Sonix may have been close but other than that... Yeah, I would agree that I feel Ludwig was like the last time we see Leo pop off. He probably went on a second vacation after that and we've just been watching his cousin fill in for him.
I disagree with the other replies here. I'd say genesis was a harder bracket than ludwig's. at ludwig's he got scend --> cosmos --> dabuz --> asimo --> sonix --> acola --> kurama --> acola at that point, he had never lost to any of those players except for kurama, and all of the matchups were in his favor. at genesis, he had to win multiple game 5s just to get into top 8, then pulled 2 reverse 3-0s one of which was after he got sent to losers by mute and before having to beat him TWICE in 2 very close game 4 sets
It's funny how he was always the humble guy and we love him for that, but the one time he allows himself to get a bit cocky (his line after winning Ludwig's, also it's around that time he said if he started to lose he could just use Joker and be the best again) karma immediately started hitting him like a truck. Genesis was his real last meaningful win though

It's real funny how everyone thinks there's one easy trick/character swap for Leo to make to return to his status as if he hasn't been getting cleaned up by unranked players on his Joker too
proof palu is the best character in the game. better than cloud aka MID, better than sonic, better than steve. just on the basis on beating mkleo is enough to prove palu is the best.
Based take on Byleth viability, I knew this character was cheeks from the beggining and it was just Leo carrying him and abusing MU inexperience. Ain't no way a character this slow (plus with wet noodle sourspots all over the place) could've been good in this meta without having either insane camp abilities and/or super crazy punish game, which he doesn't have aside from shieldbreak or avoidable cheese/MU knowledge check. I love Byleth as a character and watching Leo play him, but from a competitive standpoint I don't understand why he keeps trying with him, and almost dropped Aegis while the very obvious best choice was doing the exact opposite. Even his recovery, sure it goes far and people are scared to get spiked but most character can still intercept it, especially since he doesn't really much room for mixups. Literally first game he gets edgeguarded twice, then throughout the set there were other opportunities to just run off nair/fair that would've easily killed but Raflow stayed on stage because he was destroying him at the ledge anyway. Very well played by Raflow though, beating Leo on any of his characters is still an impressive feat
Idk man I used to feel like you but now I feel like byleth is like a low high tier with really bad match ups. Having airels that good even with there speed being ass is still really important. Having to Avoid nair and fair while watching out for down tilt into up b cheese is hard. Plus there up air is one of the best in the game so you can’t just jump over them. And really byleth just steals stocks. You can legit kill a lot of the cast with sweet spot back air at like 80 with a normal getup or jump get up read . But I do agree with you that this character is very flawed. There recovery is extremely overrated and they should be getting edge guarded way more. Tarik literally beat Leo at ufa he took his jump during last stock game 5 but didn’t finish it out with a back air. I think Leo just really enjoys spacing and having good mixups with some cheese and byleth has that but for the meta right now I could see how they struggle. I don’t think they’re cheeks tho😂.
@@j.ovinnn "Cheeks" was exaggerated, but I think a character with really bad matchups and not that many good ones (especially against meta characters) can't be high tier... He definitely has strengths though. He can kill early for sure, though I think it should be more reliable (good DI on upb kills most of his cheese) considering how bad he is in other aspects; other actual good characters can also kill early at the ledge, Roy been doing that by spamming jab, others have true confirms that don't even need to be at ledge... Also if the opponent avoids dtilt confirm and Byleth struggles to hit the tippers, sometimes he just can't find the kill even at 150+ and for a character that slow it's just unacceptable. Feels like DLC Ganondorf mixed with Marth and the only good part about that is "DLC", I can see how it fits Leo's playstyle but in this meta it's a struggle I'd rather avoid if I were him
Byleth Footstool dair does work on some characters but the timing is really hard and it’s inconsistent. If leo landed it it would have killed though 8:30
Has Leo played against Raflow? Seems more like Leo not knowing entirely what to expect from a player he hasn't played against...assuming they've never played each other. Sometimes playing against a whole brand new experienced player can still be threatening to even the best of players because you're not entirely sure how they are going to play outside of just knowing what the character's kit is. But anyway, I'm always a fan of underdogs and the fact that there are potentially amazing players out there that we'll never really see in these settings.
Tbh it isnt really all that common to have this happen, a lot of this tier of play comes down to reactions and generally maintaining some positional advantage to shut down burst potential. You can get mixed but usually youre gonna be trying to mininize their output potential which isnt really what we saw from leo. Do think hes slowing down sadly, hope he finds what he needs to pop off again

He only plays Byleth because she’s so simple to play, easy mentally and in execution. Literally nothing else makes sense as to why you’d choose her over Joker who is a far superior character.
Tell your editor to increase Brightness 3%, increase Saturation 3%, and increase contrast 5%. Trust me, I just did that to a screenshot of this video and improved it like 23%. Maybe even turn up the Sharpness a bit too.
