When looking to get a certain size. The size of the puppies depend on the size of the grandparents not the parents. A little FYI. I'm a breeder in Montana. I love both females and males the same. They all have their own personalities :)

      Carisa,
We had a Boston for 12+ years, but she passed a couple of years ago. We are finally thinking of getting another Boston and recently purchased some land in Bozeman for our long term residence. How do they do in the cold of Montana? Can you send me your contact details? Thank you

We lost our female Boston terrier and she was the love of our life. She was the best dog we have ever had. We recently adopted a 5 year old male Boston terrier and the one major thing I can say is the "a female Boston will love you but a Male Boston will be in love with you" is a perfect way describe it. It is so so true.

I was looking at getting a female Boston but was surprised on Christmas with an 8 week old little boy. He’s been the sweetest, most loving, playful, smart, curious, brave sweet pea bundle of joy. He’s been my shadow these past 9 months and I couldn’t be happier with him! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a companion. I can’t wait to spend the next 10 plus years with him!

Growing up my family bred Boston terriers. I personally prefer males. I find females lick a lot more, and are more independant. Males are literally in love with you and are much more devoted. They have their humans and they don't let go lol. My male boston Louie doesn't need a leash anywhere, because he literally walks by my side everywhere.

I had 2 males, and now 1. They were best friends. My boy that passed at almost 12 was so affectionate, super in love, cuddled, confident, athletic, smart and easily trained. The boy I still have is less cuddly but will be right by me. He is unique, more sensitive, plays soccer, talks a lot, and sucks on his toys.

It's true. Males are definitely "in love" with you. I had my little man Crash well before I got married or had kids, we was definitely a little jealous of my husband when we first started dating and always had a way about him like I betrayed him / broke his heart. Of course that passed over time. When I was pregnant he was very protective over me, he loved the kids but you can still tell his #1 connection was with me. It was so hard when he passed, almost 5 years now and I still get very emotional. The connection you have with a BT is like no other, I truly don't know if I'll ever get another one because the love and bond we had for each other was just so great.

I had a Boston female and I have to say that this breed personality goes beyond any dog I have ever treat before. She was a rescue, she used to get out her crate like nothing, she like home made dog food and fresh, so we had to Cook her meal every feeding time. She was very lovely, stubborn, and I wasn't able to change her name because she won't listen if I called her something else. She was 6 month old when I rescue her. So I will like to have a male Boston next time I want to adopt a puppy.

I’ve had 8 dogs in my adult life, 3 Boston’s. Roxxie is my first female dog. The breeder told me that males love everyone but females tend to bond with one family member more than others ( although they’re loving to all members ) That has turned out true in my case, she definitely loves the mamma! My other 2 Boston’s I adopted when they were 6 & 10 years old. They were both amazing dogs & I miss my two boys so much. They lived to 14.5 & 15.5 years, so I was blessed to have had them quite awhile after rescuing.

I have a male and a female Boston terrier. I have had Boston terriers for over 30 years. I only bred one litter and the ones I have now are mother and son ages 7 and 9.
Every single thing you said was exactly right.
You were right about the male/female personalities, size, whether to neuter or not. Absolutely correct about every point. Believe it or not I am about to decide on a new puppy because mine are getting older and I never want to be without one. I haven’t decided yet because my male is so needy, I may get a female. I worry about competition issues for him.
Great job on research and video for sure!

I had a wonderful, gentle mix breed terrier male before, and he took himself outside for his business but we needed to keep the slider open with a stick. We decided on a female BT because we saw that she was potty-trained at six-weeks. This way she can go to the restroom at anytime and we don't need to have the door open. She's super-affectionate, funny, and smart.

I have a 12 yr male BT and u're right about males being in love with u! The older they get, the more they depend on u, and want to be with u 24/7... He even goes thru separation anxiety. Mine is terrified of thunders, fireworks, or loud noises. Even as a puppy. He gets so anxious with this that he'll even vomit.

  • @beatrizarguedas7193
    @beatrizarguedas7193 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

We LOVE our BT girl! She behaves the way you explained a male would act. She’s always by our side. So very affectionate. Doesn’t spare any kisses. She likes her space too, but always close by. She mostly leaves our side just to cool her body down when she gets hot, but then right back next to us.
She’s a bit spoiled because she’s never alone. If we leave the house, she tags along. We have school and work schedules that allow her to always be with one of us, if not all of us. Not sure how she’d behave if ever left alone.
Our last dog was a male chihuahua, so this time we opted for a female. I’m sure either one would have been great. We are fortunate to keep in touch with the folks who got her cubby-mate and he’s pretty amazing too! ♥️

I've had two males--snuggle buggles and the sweetest dogs you can imagine. My daughter lived with us with her Boston female, and I guess I'm her grandmother; she's still attached to me and I do love her (in a fashion). I know you can't judge something by one example, but my daughter's female is the Queen of the Night. She bites (but not me!--she only tried it once), she's moody and bossy. When she's done watching TV, it's time for bed. She tosses the ball and she expects her humans to fetch it. And more. So based on all this, I would recommend a male. The two males I've had are regular guys, game for anything, playful, funny, and loving. My current little boy is certainly in love with me. He stares at me sometimes with pure lovelight shining from his eyes. My feelings for him are the same. Male, male, male. Love, love love.

DEFINITELY!....LIFE "IS" BETTER HAVING A BOSTON... OR MORE. 😉
I have owned at least. "9" Boston's throughout my life. Each one has their own personality. True. Male Bostons are more "needier and affectionate" than females. Now, a few of them are sadly gone BUT I still have 3 females and 2 males left... (Molly-age 11/ Sallie&Lillie-age 8-1/2 / Gus-age 12/ and Bugsy-age 5-1/2)
The girls are affectionate but most times would rather have their own space. The boys are ALWAYS next to your side. They will follow me wherever I roam in my house. When I'm showering... They BOTH will wait at the door until I'm done!! Now since Gus is older..he will prefer to have his own space.. Time by himself elsewhere. Bugsy!! He is an all-around lap dog!! He LOVES to be at your side... And he will wait for me. So. The Boston is a great companion... Great friend because they love for you to talk to them Boston's also love it when you praise them and take them everywhere you go!! They are extreme human companions.

We have both male and a female Bostons. Our male is about 25/26 lbs. He is a very needy, but lovable dog. Our female is a little on the heavier side, as she had puppies about 2 months ago. She usually weighs at about 16 lbs. She is a very lovable girl but not as needy. She'll lay next to you on the sofa, but not on you like our male does. They're both very lovable and stubborn pups. I will say that with house training our female was easier.

My partner and I have put our names on a reservation list for a Boston Terrier puppy 😃 my partner would like a female puppy, however the only reason I am cautious is because I have heard female dogs can become more attached to men. The puppy will be keeping me company alot of the time, so I wanted to see if Bella loves every member of the family ?! 😃

I have a male now and had a female in the past. They are definitely different lol. The female was more independent. The male is 100% more needy. They both love to snuggle and were great with people and other dogs. It really depends on what you are looking for because either way, you end up loving them no matter what.

They're both the same. I had a female Boston who was big in size (peaking at over 30 pounds!) and was also very much in love with us.

We have a 32 pound Boston Male, that is a rescue, he was abused, but he is awesome. He is very intelligent. When we got him late April 22, he was not house broken. We house house broke him, and he is doing great. He is also great with our 18 year old Chihuahua. He cares for him. He has been a very positive addition to our home.

I have the best of both worlds! I have a 7 year old male. I’ve had him since he was 9 weeks old. I recently got an 8 week old female. I haven’t seen much difference in affection. My female does cuddle where my male really doesn’t, but both are very loving. They both are my little rays of sunshine!!

We have had 11 BTs in our family since the 1960s. Have had up to three at one time -- that was a handful! Having two together is ideal for many reasons -- just not two males. We have had males & females.💙 💝
I agree that female BTs love you, but male BTs are in love with you!! Females seem to be more independent & males are very affectionate! 💙
    Great, great dogs!

Dog is a nice addition but if you really wanna get over your issues with depression and anxiety I highly recommend you get yourself the ''Attacking Anxiety & Depression Program, A Drug-Free, Self-Help Guide To Curing Anxiety, Depression And Stress'' by Lucinda Bassett. It's pure gold and it helped me tremendously with both anxiety and depression. You will not regret buying that, trust me. It changed my life.

@@michellelambeth595 My 10 year-old daughter suffered from childhood depression, 35 years ago. My husband brought home a 1 year old BT from a breeder who gave her to us because she was not able to be bred and was not properly socialized. I was not impressed as we had 5 chidren and a busy household. One day in and I asked me husband to return the dog. I found the dog (Velvet) and my daughter together in her room, in bed, the dog tucked in beside the little girl. That was the end of the depression and the beginning of a love affair that has lasted through 3 more Boston Terriers for my daughter.

My first Boston was female and she adored my husband. She passed of Canine Cognitive Disorder at the age of 15. The second time around I went with a male and he is such a “momma’s boy”. He’s loyal and loves mommy. Both Boston’s have very similar personalities. They are truly an amazing breed. Thank you for the awesome videos.

I have a male BT that I didn't seek out or purchase. He was being re-homed because his original owner had sadly passed away. His daughter promised to find the dog a good home, and we ended up being the lucky recipients of this wonderful pup! He is very affectionate and cuddly and BEYOND loyal. My husband has definitely become "his person" but he's still very affectionate to everyone. He is very smart and just wants to please us. He has a lot of energy for a 7 year old dog, but he also loves his quiet/cuddle time haha.
He's also giant for a BT at 40lbs, and aptly named Sherman (like the tank).

My husband and I got opt first Boston Terrier back in 2009. To make a long story short he got really injured by a couple dogs. My vet called him the dead dog walking. We loved our Baloo. Named for one blue eye of course. My husband was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. That dog never again left my husbands side. Baloo understood he had been nursed back to health and now it was his turn to nurse daddy back to health. I more year and my husband will be cancer free 10 years. We list him to old age but he was the best!! We do have 4 other dogs but back in October in the grocery parking lot we got our second special boy Bandit. Gotta get him to stop chewing and jumping but love him so much!!

I have a 9 yo male Boston terrier and he can be very needy. He wants belly rubs 24/7. I thought by this age he would have been less energetic but he’s quite the same.
I neutered him pretty late about 5 yo. I did want to breed him at some point but my mom kept pushing it because the vet said it would stop the “marking” (constant peeing in the house) I thought that was total bs and they only said that so people could stop dogs from breeding. Boy was I surprised when it actually stopped. He put on some weight after that thou. He was incredibly lean! I was always worried that he was not eating enough but the vet said that’s just his built and he was very active. He’s not overweight now but just looks a bit hefty now. 😅
He’s the best! The sweetest most affectionate dog I know! ❤️

But I have fallen in love with some little boy Boston's as well so yeah I don't think you can go wrong either way as long as it's a Boston you should be golden.... You will have an amazing companion that will love you more than you can imagine ❤😂

My husband and I lost our great dane last month after 10 years. The house feels empty, but we are both older and my husband is disabled. He doesn't want a dog that needs a lot of walks etc and we weren't thinking of this breed until a local rescue posted some 2 or 3 month old boston/dachsund mixes they rescued. They aren't available for adoption for another month or 2, but they are very cute.
