Top tip, when you tke the filter off, put a placcy bag over your hand inside out, grab the fuel fitler, pull the bag up atound the filter and then undo the filter. Hey presto, the bag catches the oil. Baaaboooom.
I had no timing belt receipt amongst the load of receipts I got with my car so had it done, I needed that peace of mind and it only cost £220 for my Panda for belt, pump and tensioner.....far cheaper than an engine. This T4 is a cracking motor, you and Lauren will get years of use from it.
@@Mk2Mitch I tell you what Mitch, Panda's I'll admit are a bland to look at car but I've had it 3 years, put 28k on it and it's only broke down once, a £7 earth strap of all things. I'm so pleased I went with my gut feeling about them because they're a good little runaround and will hold their own on the motorway, do great mpg and cheap to run, being a 1.2.
Great video pal, just bought my first t4 and never touched a spanner in my life. After reading through the haynes manual and watching your video I'm going to attempt this very task. Wish me luck. I may even video the moment for posterity 😅
Great video, on my own car & van I always pour 100ml of new oil in while the sump bungs out, cleans out any old oil in galleries & bottom of the sump 👍🏻 might aswell do the crank seal when you do the cam belt pal
When are you doing a wrap with a huge MK2 MITCH logo? 🤩 I don't know where you find the time to go to work, service and refurb the VW, restore the Escort, keep the Fiesta's on the road, go to all these auctions, edit and upload these video's and keep the missus happy. Keep up the great content my friend. ✌
I’d love to! Been thinking about a big rear window sticker 🤔 Life certainly is very busy but somehow I’m juggling it at the moment, I may go part time with the day job some day and that would free up more some time to spend with Lauren/family etc & make more videos!! 😎
Why the hell do people go so overboard tightening oil filters?? my other pet peeve is the retaining screws on brake discs, always ridiculously tight. they aren't there to hold the disc on, the wheels do that job. Nice work mate, loving the progress on this project 👍
Can’t say you don’t look after your cars Mitch and I’m sure it was well worth it . I couldnt believe the size and weight of that under tray ! If you leave that off you’ll get another 10 mpg 🤣🤣 nice job mate 👍
I had my hand over my eyes when you were undoing the sump plug the wrong way….I did exactly the same thing on my 1.9 tdi Caddy a few months ago and stripped the threads. I ended up replacing the sump as it was pretty cheap. I won’t make that mistake again!
@Mk2Mitch some times, it's good to slightly tighten the plug then undo it, same with rusty nuts, same with helping to not cross thread a bolt, marry it up by lefty loosing till it seats , then tighten. Tricks learned from my Engineer Father .
hi after just purchasing a modern peugeot ,with problems and costly diagnostics etc ,im looking to go for something simpler ,the service is simple enough is the rest of these vans easier to work on than the modern ,are there any disadvantages looks a nice van just subscribed and will look through your vids ,i like you didnt edit out the problems and good advice great vid thanks sam
I'm suprised You didn't get the Sand paper out on the Dipstick 🙊🙊 The Oldman isn't going to be happy if You get Oil on that Driveway 😂😂 (Sand & Washing liquid works for Stain removal 👍)

Thank you for this tip. I will be doing this from now on.
all t4s are lovely
Great video Mitch , The T4 is certainly proving itself to be a decent buy it’s in better condition than some vans half its age!
Cheers Nick! It’s not a bad van, I’m looking forward to progressing and making it reliable camper for years to come 😁

That’s great value for money at only £220 to get your cambelt replaced! Thank you, we are really enjoying ownership so far 😁

Not a bad idea! Yes of course I’ll be doing the crank seal whilst it’s all stripped down 👍🏻
@Mk2Mitch That would mean a drain down again which won't hurt the old girl.

Hi, these are great vans but suffer from rust issues. If you look into buying one, make sure it’s had the welding done or is a clean example!
Looking good with the van, Time for the turbo conversion for it ? !!
Same colour as mine 👍
It’s a great colour 😎
Done loads of these cambelts buy INA kit they are really good
Thank you for the advice mate, I’ll go with one of them! 👍🏻
