- My lovely big (and very heavy) woodworker's bench was just too large to get through a normal doorway let along into the new, smaller workshop after we move. I have replaced it with a more modest bench which will give me many years of service yet has some very useful features.
In this video I show how easy it is to make the drawers. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Peter your videos are great. I really enjoy them. Keep up the good work.
Hi John, Thank you so much. Peter
Top notch Sir, you seem to be a classically trained English joiner of the old school, 👍 🔨 🇮🇪
You are very kind but I owe what little talent that I have to my Dad and get a lot of advice now from a genuine classical English cabinet maker, my friend David. Cheers. Peter
Hello Peter. I adore watching professional woodworkers work and came across your channel a few days ago. I've spent the last few days watching practically every video. I have to say, Peter that they are just superb, for a number of reasons. Firstly, your presentational style is very good - chatty but informative, authoritative and factual. Secondly, the scope and depth of information given, with many multi-part videos. Lastly, the production quality of the videos is also exellent, especially the camera angles, inset diagrams and pictures - you just don't see these on other channels. In fact, it is almost like one is watching a small TV documentary on the subject matter in hand. Thank you.
Gosh, You have made my day - no my year !! Thanks you so much - perhaps you could act as my agent for TV work. Cheers. Peter
Beautiful and precise work Peter. Always a pleasure to watch a master at work, many thanks.
Hi Barry, Many thanks - I have one more video in the series showing the installation of the drawer runners. Cheers. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop I look forward to the installation video. Regards
Thanks Peter, smaller bench but still a lot of work. Good job
Hi Ken, Many thanks. Peter
Great video- thanks for sharing - just found your channel so I think a bit of binge viewing over the weekend is likely!
Hi Julian, Take it easy - you may need a G+T afterwards ! Cheers. Peter
Thanks for another great and informative video, great tips I will be using
Hi Stuart, Cheers. Peter
it ias every time a real pleasure to see how you work. A lot to learn!
Hi Pierre, Merci. Peter
Good work Peter - some useful tips there, many thanks!
Hi Darrel, Many thanks. Peter
As allways... Good vid, Peter!
Cheers. Peter
As shown in your video, using a router table is the best way to cut accurate multiple dado's. I've seen other videos that use a dado stack on a table saw, however in my opinion this is to dangerous.
Great video with a lot of good tips. 4:30 That stick is very handy, clever idea! also the easy jig you made to protect you drawer when you add presure is a good idea!
Many thanks. Peter
If you are making hundreds of drawers you could standardize them and also have a jig set up specifically for making drawers. With that approach you can get really fast accurate outputs but it really is only if you are making many drawers.
Yes, of course. Cheers. Peter
Peter, if hydro locking is a concern, why don't you put a small grove along the domino to allow air / glue to escape when you assemble?
Hi Keith, The dominos have that grooving but there is only a small amount of space for the escape of glue. Cheers. Peter
Thanks Peter. One question I have been trying to find the answer to is using MDF for drawers robust enough? As I keep on being told to use plywood
My drawers are certainly strong enough and show no signs of fatigue. Peter
Hi Peter, great instructional video. I also appreciate you are sharing the plans for free. However I have to say the way of sharing is really sketchy. Why not set up a Google Drive account and put your plans there. You can just share that folder with a link.
Hi Moho, I understand and may have to do that. I agree that it is simpler but I would lose control in case someone decides to hoover them all and start selling them. I will think again though and am grateful for your advice. Peter
Why are you using mitres for drawer backs?
Everyone who owns a Kapex use mitres all the time, dear Tim. 😂
@@schnarre4726 do they end up with a better joint?
Hi Tim, The mitre joints are really quick and perfectly strong enough for the purpose. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop Peter, are mitres easier and/or stronger than butt joints with dominios?
When I do miters, I also use usually 4 mm dominos to reinforce those miters.
Sorry Peter. I tried sending my e-mail to you but the system is not sending it to the trash and I can still see it even though I have refreshed the page. I have consequently had to remove it. Thank you anyways for offering the plans. I would have enjoyed making this. Keep up the good work.
Hi Syl, Of course you will still see the comment that you place as you wrote it but it will end up in the spam. Peter
Hi Syl, I have sent the plans to the email address that you sent and the comment has been deleted. Peter
Hi
Dear peter.
Does your method of getting the plans for the bench still work.
By just typing my email address in this comment
Hi Steven, Yes. Peter
