    At this point In the gas RC boating world we would also try going back to the stock exhaust to see if it resolves this issue. If the exhaust flow is too free flowing or the exhaust expansion is timed wrong, the engine will bog and not create enough back pressure to keep in the fuel to be combusted. This series has been my favorite and I bought a CS590 to play with because of it!

    A rich man is definitely not always a happy man. Words to live by. Money most certainly cannot buy happiness. I gave up a lucrative management position and a large cut in pay for happiness and more time with my family. I am now a forklift technician that enjoys operating and tinkering with saws. Buckin's channel is how I found yours and I am very close to porting my 1st saw now. Thank you for what you do and all your advice!!!

    Sometimes a sparkplug can be defective right out of the box. I had one that was cracked inside allowing the insulator to move up and down and no, I hadn't dropped it.

I’ve heard your name mentioned on other saw channels but some how TH-cam served up this 590 series and I clicked because I’m a shindaiwa fanboy and maybe I’m looking for clues to porting my 488… anywho, I like your honest style and the cutaway u did explaining the 590 issues was super helpful - cheers from JimBob

    Check the plug boot. The spring inside can come loose. My saw is having the same issues. It will make this particular saw run all over the place.
    When its right its great. When its not it wont...it acts lean n wont idle. It might idle but wont take fuel n bogs out. Its now having a delayed start. You pull to start n a second or two later it fires n starts.
    Hope this helps.

    I have been battling a Husky 345 for a while now, wasn't running right, I pulled it down, new bearings/seals, carried out vacuum/pressure test, stihl not running right, pulled it down again, resealed the cyl, made sure the intake boot was good, sealed it to the cyl, cleaned carb many times, new bits in the carb, tried different spark plugs, fuel filters, tuned carb many times etc. Finally found the problem...... fuel line had cracks in it.....

    Echo saws are tuned ragged edge on a balance btwn carb size and port sizes hence big high intake ports, muffler mods will help make power due to epa reasons that’s the route echo went to appease epa emissions, changing port timing throws everything out of whack when it’s on ragged edge of performance, I recommend getting a way bigger carb hole size wise, sounds like it’s pulling excess fuel due to higher than normal vacuum from the motor, just a guess, if you want to port echos port width by a bit but not much and don’t change timing

  • @hisWACness

    I can recommend Kevin aka Huskihl over on OPE and AS, and Rattler Worksaws if you're looking for saw porters to get saws from. I have a ported 254 from each of them and both are awesome. Kevin's is a bit hotter, but both rip good. Both are good people also, can't ask for better guys to deal with. I know there are a lot of good saw porters out there, those are just two I've dealt with. Keep up the great work, absolutely love your channel. Blessings brother!

    I don't think it's a fuel delivery problem. I think it's not getting full combustion because it not starting the combustion early enough. If it gets to the point to where you can't figure it out, try cutting the keyway out alil bit to the advance direction or slot the mounting hole in the coil to where you can advance the timing by moving the coil it's self backwards against the spin direction of the motor.

  • @zman8884

    Seems like it’s starving for fuel on the top end, then it’s catching up and pulling too much fuel then starving again etc. just my thought. I agree with the carb issue tinman good luck with this issue

  • @rncboy2
    @rncboy2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had a similar issue with a stihl 025 older carb rebuilt it with a new meter and Same issue so I pulled the metering pulse valve side back apart and re adjusted the needle and it finally cleared up. Since i did port it and open the muffler it runs dead on now. Took me a few weeks as well to figure out how to work around the issue. You can do so and just richen the low jet up. Even though you already adjusted the meter to factory specs

    • @rncboy2
      @rncboy2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a thought. Just because the factory recommends it doesn't mean it's 100% right. Especially governed parts.

  • @sebastianleicht
    @sebastianleicht 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Tinman, glad you found the first issue and hoping you can fix the current issue quickly. Good luck. I'm very curious what it is! I had a similar behaviour on a FS80 brushcutter. But there it was guiet easy: the thread of the sparkplugbore was wrecked and the plug got loose while running. But took me also a lot of time to figure that out because the plug felt right. Thanks for sharing.

  • @thomasgronek6469
    @thomasgronek6469 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm going to guess that the coil has a rev-limithing issue, and a new plug will help, for a short time, , , when the coil get hot, the rev-limiter fails. Try using an old coil that you know works for sure, even if it's not the one you want. (Is the coil on backwards), , , spark will still be generated (sometimes), but it's not picking up the polarity from the magnets correct (N and S poles are switched relative to the coils needs), or if it's a coil from a different model saw, maybe the poles on the other saw are not the same, or maybe there is a degree timing difference as compared to the flywheel that you are using. I wish you the best.. thanks for all of your videos.

    Murphys law, the weirdest shit happens. Dad had a 4.0 jeep die and wouldn't start. Everything checked out but no spark. Changed every sensor, plugs wires etc, still nothing. He figured it jumped timing, so changed timing chain, camshaft etc. Still nothing.
    I was in high school and new nothing about mechanics.
    But he ask me to help tell him when it was TDC as he bumped the key. I noticed the distributor rotor wasn't turning. I said "isn't this pointy thing supposed to turn?"
    He about $hit, Lol
    Turned out the distributor rotor gear sheared teeth and was stuck at the #1 position.
    So running through his setup, he would turn the motor by hand to #1 TDC, looking down at timing marks and feeling for compression on #1. Then hed look up at the distributor, to check it was in correct position. He never noticed it wasn't turning!
    Took another set of eyes to see that the rotor wasn't turning, it just broke through $hit luck pointing right at #1.
    Few years later, on another vehicle, I had the same thing happen to me. Took me a while, but I remembered ole Murphy, so I figured it out much sooner than he did cause I learned from his mistake.
    I was lucky it was 70 degrees out and figured it out in hours, when it was 20 and days for him, and he's still a much better mechanic than me. 🤪
    TLDR: Only two times I ever sheared distributor teeth, and both times it was pointed right at #1 TDC, the little things always bite the hardest!

    Hey Tinman. I love that you show both the ups and downs to doing this stuff. Quick thought, is it possible that with the stock intake timing, the impulse signal is too strong at the diaphragm? Have you tried lowering the metering lever a tad to see if it clears up a bit? Either way, looking forward to seeing you get it dialed.

Then let us know!

    Have you thought about a 6-degree timing key

    After porting what are the numbers like you did when you tested upgrading only the carb and ignition? All that work and we don’t know the results?

    Where do I get a 590 carburetor?
    Factory or do you have aftermarket sources?

    It is a good thing you have ported a lot of saws if this was your first saw you would be pulling your hair out about now

    Hey Tinman, I'm having the same issue with my 620 I'm really wondering if you can get a longer hijet needle for it? Mine's turned all the way in and still running very rich.. I tell you that thing would scream if it could just gain a few more revs! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Cheers 🍻

    Been using the really cheap China carbs they've come a long ways they got a bad rap when they first come out

    Oh ok... already swapped the ignition and carb. How about validating the coil is grounded properly. Remove all paint or powder coating Echo uses on the coil mounting posts.

    Check your Ignition timing on the fly wheel possibly Advance it. And maybe a carb from a STIHL ms 361 or a ms 390,391

    Try running a husqvarna carb on it if possible. That or everyone keep changing carb. Take echo saw one and clean or open ports in carb. Worse happen it flood or it will run.
