When cable guy came, I noticed the MO was for $500 and not $50 like wanted. Went back to the Mom/Pop place and let them know! They were so grateful!
Paul I'm the same way. When Covid 19 first hit certain products were hard to find. I went to our local hardware store to pick up a brand of paper towels that we used. They were a name brand product and were next to a generic brand. I gathered several packs and went to pay but they weren't marked so they charged me with the generic price which I argued that was not the right price. The owner of the store was not there so I went back later and explained the situation to her. She thanked me for my honesty and it cost me about $10.00 more. A man in line behind me overheard the conservation and told me that I was a honest men. I replied to him "Sir, I refuse to let $10.00 send me to hell"!!
One day I was going into a store and found a envelope on the ground, so I picked it up, it was pretty thick. When I looked inside, it had over $800 in it. It also had a ID card. So I posted a message on the board at the store and the note said, Money found with ID card. Call and identify. Turns out it belonged to an older lady and it was her monthly retirement check. She was so happy that she brought me a homemade chocolate cake when she came to get her money and ID.
I would have done the same thing, and have, when I was over and under chaged. 1. It's the right thing to do 2. They are your friends and business" partners". 3. It's the Golden Rule. Keep up the good work!!!

I had a similar experience where the scrap yard paid me for a full ton more than I brought in. I had 1800 lbs and they paid me for 3800 lbs. I did the same as you did and told them who then rectified the error. It is good to believe!
I really enjoy watching your videos. I collect plastic and glass bottles and aluminum cans. I also collect scrap metal but on a very small level. You are such an amazing man, honest, friendly and fun to listen to. Your love of nature and animals is great. Thank you for sharing your adventures in scrapping. 😊

Paul, I would do the same thing you did. Years ago a cashier gave me an extra fifty in change from a hundred, I told her she made a mistake but she said, “I don’t make mistakes” and insisted she gave me the right change, I had to get the manager in order to give the extra back. 😂

You have nurtured a special relationship with that scrapyard over the years. Most scrapyards would feel threatened by your camera, but they appear quite comfortable. Most scrapyards are depressing, they appear upbeat and helpful. I forgot where I was going with this, have a great week.

hate people who dump cats!!--my mojoe was a stray but he let me pet him and pick him up--so he became mine --got an apt to get him fixed!!! i think that he will stick around cus he is already well fed and spoiled!!!-- have a ferral who lives in my house --can't pet him !!--his momma lives out front and i feed her every day --my neighbor and i trapped them and got them fixed --soo no more stray kittens from them!!! catch and release for ferral cats is a good thing!!

You certainly did the right thing at the scrap yard. If you would have kept the difference you would have felt consequence about it all night. I know I have felt that way a few times, even going back to a store the next day for a quarter over I got in change. In fact I have one right now that is bothering from my last visit to Home Depot. Among the items that I purchased that day were 15 3/8x4’ dowels. When I got home and started going through the receipt to pick out the expenses relating to my wood shop I noticed that the dowels had not been rang up. I mentioned it to my wife and she said she would be heading that direction the next day and she would take one of the dowels and explain what had happened. Well she ended up not going and the matter still hasn’t been taken care of yet and it is bothering me big time. Since I no longer drive I can’t just hop in the car and go take care of it myself.
Of course you did the right thing. Honesty is a must. I once was over paid at a grocery store and went back in to return what they overpaid. Felt good.

I had that happen to me many times in my life I always did the right thing and back when my daughter was about 16 I seen her do it and that made me a proud dad I never want any more or any less

The grocery store, buying gas, etc. Now we basically use credit cards but I've also been charged the incorrect amount on a purchase and brought it to a clerk's attention. You are awesome Paul. Its been storming here in Arkansas, there was a real bad tornado in little rock the capitol and another one in a little town called winn. Rain, rain, rain all week. Its nice today. Got my mulch out in the flower beds. This overpayment thing has happened to me also, the thing is its the same as stealing if you know about it and do nothing.
